Chapter 157 Perilous Path, Endless Tribulations

Ning Yu's heart sank, and an ominous premonition surged into his mind. Before he could react, the seemingly ordinary metal plate beneath his feet suddenly dented several inches.

"Click—"

A crisp mechanical sound echoed in the silent warehouse, and Ning Yu immediately felt a chill run from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. Almost simultaneously, dozens of arrows, gleaming with a cold, eerie light, whistled out from the holes in the walls on both sides, their targets aimed directly at Ning Yu's vitals.

"Damn it!" Ning Yu cursed under his breath, his body reacting much faster than his brain. He leaped backward, barely dodging the deadly rain of arrows. The arrows struck the wall opposite him with dull thuds, demonstrating their immense force.

"Ning Yu, are you alright?" Mu Xue was terrified when she saw this scene from behind, her heart leaping into her throat.

Ning Yu didn't have time to answer. He looked down at the metal plate at his feet, his expression becoming even more serious. This metal plate was slightly darker than the others, and the difference was almost imperceptible without close inspection.

"It's a pressure sensor!" Ning Yu immediately realized that he had been careless and stepped on this special metal plate, which triggered the mechanism.

"Pressure sensing?" Mu Xue frowned slightly. She knew nothing about mechanisms and could only worry anxiously. "What do we do now?"

Ning Yu remained silent, his gaze sweeping across his surroundings, trying to find more information about the mechanism. However, apart from the metal plate that had been triggered, nothing else seemed out of the ordinary.

He took a deep breath and lowered his voice to say to Mu Xue, "This is just the first mechanism. There will definitely be more. Be careful and don't touch anything recklessly."

Mu Xue knew she couldn't help, so she could only try not to cause Ning Yu any trouble. She nodded to indicate that she understood.

Ning Yu cautiously took another step, this time with extreme care, his eyes constantly searching the ground for any suspicious traces. His nerves were on edge, and his heart was pounding in his chest.

However, at that moment, Ning Yu suddenly felt a sharp headache and his vision went black... He endured the discomfort, reached out to hold onto the wall, and gritted his teeth, saying, "Oh no, my head..." "Ning Yu!" Mu Xue exclaimed and rushed forward to help him, but Ning Yu raised his hand to stop her.

"Don't come any closer. This place is strange. Be careful." Ning Yu gritted his teeth, his voice trembling due to a severe headache. Sweat streamed down his face, blurring his vision.

He knew this wasn't the time to rest. The strange headache had come on suddenly and violently, as if some invisible force was eroding his consciousness, but he had to persevere. The warehouse control center was just ahead; only by shutting down the defense system could they truly control the place. His intuition told him that the warehouse's secrets went far beyond this.

Ning Yu took a deep breath, forcing himself to concentrate and ignore the waves of dizziness that were washing over him. He moved his feet cautiously, each step feeling like walking on a knife's edge, a single misstep could mean certain death. Sweat streamed down his forehead, soaking his clothes, and his persistent headache made his movements even more difficult.

"Buzz—"

Just as Ning Yu reached the halfway point of the passage, a chilling mechanical whirring sound suddenly came from ahead. He looked up abruptly and saw that the smooth metal plates on both walls had suddenly flipped over, and dozens of sharp blades emerged from the walls, spinning at high speed, forming an impenetrable net of death that blocked his path.

"Damn it, how can there be so many traps!" Mu Xue cursed under her breath, her face turning pale.

Ning Yu remained silent, his face grim. The spinning blade mechanism activated at an alarming speed, giving him almost no time to react. At this moment, his head was throbbing with pain, and his supernatural energy was almost depleted from the earlier attack, making it insufficient to withstand such a dense barrage of attacks.

"Step back!" Ning Yu roared, shielding Mu Xue behind him.

His eyes were wide open, and his last remaining supernatural power surged wildly, forming a transparent energy shield in front of him in an attempt to block the blade's attack. However, this shield proved extremely fragile in the face of the rapidly spinning blade, shattering after only a few seconds and dissipating into starlight into the air.

"Ning Yu!" Mu Xue exclaimed in alarm, watching helplessly as the blade was about to strike Ning Yu.

At the critical moment, Ning Yu's body reacted instinctively. He lunged forward, barely dodging the fatal attack, but the sharp blade still cut his arm, and blood instantly stained his sleeve.

Ning Yu groaned, enduring the excruciating pain, and rolled away from the range of the blade trap. He struggled to stand up, but everything went black, and his body collapsed limply backward…

"Ning Yu, how are you?" Mu Xue rushed forward to support Ning Yu and asked anxiously.

Ning Yu shook his head weakly. His consciousness began to blur, and his vision gradually darkened. Before he completely lost consciousness, he only heard Mu Xue's anxious voice echoing in his ears: "No, we must leave here as soon as possible..."

"boom--"

Suddenly, a loud noise came from the depths of the passage, followed by the entire passage beginning to shake violently, and the lights overhead flickered, threatening to go out at any moment.

"What's going on?" Mu Xue's expression changed drastically, and an ominous premonition welled up in her heart.

"The passage... is about to collapse..." Ning Yu said intermittently with his last bit of strength before falling into a coma.

"No, we can't just sit here and wait to die!" one of the team members shouted in a panic. "We have to find a way to get out of here!"
