"Ning Yu, long time no see!" Widow Li chuckled sinisterly, her voice shrill and piercing. "I didn't expect you to still be alive, you're really lucky! But your good fortune ends here. Hand over your things obediently, and I might consider leaving you a whole corpse!"
"Widow Li, don't push your luck!" Ning Yu roared. "If I hadn't taken you in back then, you would have starved to death in the wilderness long ago. Is this how you repay kindness with enmity?"
"Stop talking nonsense!" Widow Li interrupted him impatiently. "The victor is king, the loser is villain, it's always been like this! Today you either obey me obediently, or you become food for my pet!"
After she finished speaking, she waved her hand, and the mutated creatures roared deafeningly and charged toward the shelter with bared teeth and claws.
Ning Yu knew that a fierce battle was inevitable. He took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down, and suppressed his fear and anger.
He raised his shotgun, aimed it at the mutated creature charging at the front, and pulled the trigger.
"Bang!"
With a deafening roar, the bullet whistled through the air, striking the mutated creature precisely in the head. However, to his despair, the bullet only left a shallow white mark on the creature's thick bone armor, failing to inflict any fatal damage.
"roar!"
The mutated creature roared angrily and pounded on the shelter's iron gate even more frantically.
While firing his gun, Ning Yu skillfully dodged the attacks of the mutated creatures in the confined space.
However, even the strongest fists can't fight off four hands, let alone when facing these invulnerable monsters.
As time went on, the shelter's defenses were gradually destroyed, and the iron gates were knocked to the ground.
Ning Yu had lost count of how many shots he had fired; his arms ached terribly, and he was running out of ammunition.
"Am I really going to die here today?"
Despair spread through Ning Yu's heart, and just when he was about to give up, he suddenly felt a mysterious power surging within him...
The shelter's iron doors creaked and twisted, as if they would be ripped apart at any moment. Ning Yu was covered in cuts and bruises, but he felt no pain, only endless exhaustion and despair. Widow Li's shrill, piercing laughter echoed in his ears, as if mocking his overestimation of his abilities.
"Give up, Ning Yu! You can't beat me!" Widow Li stood behind the mutated creature, her face filled with crazed glee. "Become my slave obediently, and perhaps I can let you live a few more days!"
"Dream on!" Ning Yu roared, pulling the trigger, only to hear a blank shot. He was out of ammunition. Despair overwhelmed him like a tidal wave. Was it really going to be the end?
Just then, a surge of scorching heat rose from his chest, rapidly spreading to his limbs and bones, as if a raging fire was burning within him. Ning Yu groaned, the hunting rifle falling to the ground, the intense pain making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
"What's going on?" Widow Li noticed Ning Yu's unusual behavior, her brows furrowed slightly, and a hint of doubt flashed in her eyes.
Ning Yu curled up on the ground in agony, his body trembling uncontrollably. He felt a mysterious force surging through his body, trying to break free from some kind of restraint.
"Ah!" Ning Yu let out a painful roar, large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. He felt as if his body was being torn apart by this force, every bone groaning under the unbearable strain.
"Ning Yu, what's wrong with you?" Widow Li tentatively took a step forward, and the mutated creature followed with a low growl, as if it sensed a threat.
Ning Yu ignored Widow Li, closed his eyes tightly, gritted his teeth and tried to control the violent power.
"Go and see!" A glint of greed flashed in Widow Li's eyes. She had a premonition that something must have happened to Ning Yu.
A gigantic mutated creature received the command and slowly approached Ning Yu with heavy steps...
"Don't come any closer..." Ning Yu managed to utter two words, his voice hoarse.
However, the mutated creature ignored his warnings, its foul breath spraying onto his face, making him feel nauseous.
"Get out of my way!" Ning Yu suddenly opened his eyes, a red light flashing in them...
