After the blinding white light faded, the warehouse fell into a deathly silence. Ning Yu felt a buzzing in his head, and everything before his eyes became blurry. He shook his head, trying to see the scene clearly, but found it difficult even to stand still.
"Ning Yu!" Mu Xue's anxious cry rang in her ears. She grabbed the swaying Ning Yu and asked, "Are you alright? Are you okay?"
Ning Yu tried to speak, but found his throat terribly dry, and could only shake his head weakly. He struggled to stand up, but felt an immense pressure coming from the depths of the warehouse, as if an invisible mountain was pressing down on him, making it hard for him to breathe.
"What is that thing..." someone in the group shouted in terror.
The flickering lights inside the warehouse were now completely extinguished, leaving only a blinding white light that illuminated everything within, making it appear and disappear like a ghost. Everyone looked in terror toward the direction of the white light, where something seemed to be slowly awakening in the shadows where clutter had once been piled.
"Don't panic, everyone!" Mu Xue shouted, trying to calm the team down. "There are so many of us, we're sure we can find a way!"
However, a tremor, imperceptible even to herself, crept into her voice. The oppressive atmosphere in the warehouse grew stronger, fear spreading like a plague among the crowd, despair etched on every face.
Ning Yu endured the throbbing pain in his mind, struggling to maintain the last shred of consciousness. He clenched his fists, his knuckles turning bluish-white from the force. He could sense that something in the shadows of the warehouse was gathering power, and an even greater crisis was about to unfold.
"Prepare for battle!" Mu Xue's voice echoed in the empty warehouse. She drew the dagger from her waist, her gaze fixed resolutely on the depths of the shadows. "Even if it costs us everything, we must protect everyone!"
However, her encouragement had little effect; the team members' faces remained filled with fear. Most of them were just ordinary people, and faced with this unknown terror, they simply didn't have the courage to resist.
Suddenly, the thing in the shadows moved. It had no physical form, more like a distorted mass of light and shadow, the white light bursting forth from its constantly churning shape. Accompanied by a piercing shriek, a massive wave of energy, like a roaring beast, opened its blood-red maw and hurtled towards the crowd.
"Get down!" Ning Yu roared, channeling all his inner power. A transparent barrier instantly opened in front of him, only to be easily torn apart by the energy wave, as if it were made of paper. The immense impact threw him to the ground, his head throbbing, as if a red-hot iron rod was churning in his brain. But he gritted his teeth and persevered, using his last ounce of strength to barely maintain the tattered barrier in front of everyone.
"Quick! Use those boxes to block them!" Mu Xue reacted quickly, directing everyone to use the containers, planks, and everything else that could be used in the warehouse to build a makeshift defensive fortification.
The team members sprang into action in a panic, their fear transforming into a survival instinct. They pushed the heavy shipping containers in front of them, nailing planks together in an attempt to block the devastating energy surge. However, their efforts were futile against overwhelming power. The energy wave easily tore apart and crushed the obstacles, turning them into countless fragments.
"Cough cough..." Ning Yu struggled to get up from the ground, blood seeping from the corner of his mouth, but he had no time to care about his injuries. Inside the warehouse, the panicked team members were knocked to the ground by the residual force of the energy wave, their cries and groans mingling together, like a scene from hell.
"Damn it! This can't go on!" Ning Yu endured the throbbing pain in his mind, trying to concentrate and see through the essence of the distorted light and shadow. Suddenly, he noticed that at the center of the light and shadow, there seemed to be a constantly pulsating point of light, emitting a chilling energy fluctuation.
“That is…” Ning Yu’s pupils contracted as a bold idea surfaced in his mind, “Could that be its energy core?”
He took a deep breath, his eyes hardening with unwavering resolve. If they could destroy that core, perhaps they could stop this catastrophe!
"Ning Yu, what are you doing?!" Mu Xue noticed Ning Yu's intention and shouted anxiously.
"Cover me!" Ning Yu didn't turn around. He roared and once again mobilized his supernatural power. This time, he didn't choose to defend. Instead, he concentrated all his power in his right hand, transforming it into a dazzling beam of energy that blasted towards the center of the ball of light!
However, just as his attack was about to hit its target, an even stronger force blasted him away, as if he had crashed into an invisible wall...
"Damn it..." Ning Yu groaned, a trickle of blood spilling from the corner of his mouth. "At this rate, we can't get any closer..." He looked up at the ball of light, a resolute glint in his eyes. "It seems, the only option is..."
"Ning Yu, no!" Mu Xue's voice trembled slightly with fear, but she was powerless to stop Ning Yu's frantic actions. He was like a moth drawn to a flame, rushing towards the distorted light and shadow again and again, only to be mercilessly repelled time and time again.
Each impact felt like Ning Yu's internal organs were about to shatter, but he gritted his teeth and persevered. He constantly adjusted the angle and method of his attacks, trying to find a weakness in that invisible force. However, no matter how hard he tried, the final result was always the same—he was violently thrown back.
"There must be a way..." Ning Yu leaned against the wall, barely supporting his swaying body. He gasped for breath, sweat mixed with blood rolling down his forehead. He knew this couldn't go on, but he couldn't give up, nor could he back down.
