Chapter 162 Barriers Stand in the Sky, The Path to Break Through Them

“They’re high-energy batteries!” Ning Yu said in a deep voice. He recognized the special markings on the metal boxes; they were special boxes used to store high-energy batteries. These batteries were originally used to power large mechanical equipment and contained an enormous amount of energy.

“That’s right!” Mu Xue nodded. “These high-energy batteries are the key to breaking through the barrier!”

The team members immediately sprang into action. They divided the work, moving batteries, disassembling casings, connecting wires... Everyone was busy in a tense but orderly manner. Time was of the essence, and they had to complete Mu Xue's plan as soon as possible.

However, things didn't go as smoothly as expected. The connection method for these high-energy batteries was extremely complex, requiring specialized equipment and technology. Worse still, due to prolonged storage, some batteries had aged and deteriorated, rendering them unusable.

"What should we do? At this rate, it's too late!" a team member said anxiously, large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead.

"I'll give it a try!" Ning Yu said in a deep voice. Although he wasn't a professional technician, he had the assistance of the system, allowing him to quickly learn and master various skills. He activated the system's power, began analyzing the battery's structure and connection methods, and attempted to repair the damaged batteries.

Mu Xue assisted him from the side, using her ability to manipulate metal to precisely assemble the batteries and secure them with metal wire.

Time passed by, and fine beads of sweat appeared on Ning Yu and Mu Xue's foreheads, but they did not relax in the slightest and devoted themselves to their work with full concentration.

Finally, through their combined efforts, an energy interference source composed of dozens of high-energy batteries was completed. It emitted a faint blue light, and its powerful energy fluctuations caused the surrounding air to distort slightly.

"Are you ready?" Mu Xue looked at Ning Yu, her eyes shining with determination.

"Ready!" Ning Yu took a deep breath, grabbed the energy interference source, and turned to rush towards the protective barrier.

He installed the energy interference source in the center of the protective barrier and then quickly retreated.

Buzz—!

With a piercing buzzing sound, the energy interference source activated, and a powerful energy surge instantly swept across the entire warehouse. The protective barrier trembled violently, and its originally eerie blue light flickered, as if it might go out at any moment.

"We're almost there!" Upon seeing this, the team members perked up and their faces lit up with excitement.

However, at that moment, a sharp alarm suddenly sounded from deep within the warehouse...

"Something's wrong! Something's happened!" Ning Yu's expression changed, and he turned around sharply to look in the direction from which the voice came, his eyes filled with seriousness.

The piercing alarm ripped through the tense atmosphere, like a sharp blade severing everyone's hopes. The protective barrier flickered violently under the influence of the energy interference source, like a candle in the wind, threatening to go out at any moment. Victory seemed so close, yet so far away.

"What's going on? Are there still defense systems that haven't been disarmed?" a team member exclaimed, his voice trembling slightly.

Ning Yu didn't answer, his brows furrowed, his gaze sharp as a hawk's as he scanned the depths of the warehouse, trying to pinpoint the source of the alarm. The warehouse was dimly lit, with various metal implements haphazardly piled up, adding to the sense of unknown dread.

Mu Xue walked to Ning Yu's side, her delicate face covered with a layer of frost, and said in a deep voice, "The alarm is coming from the deepest part of the warehouse, which... seems to be the area where special materials are stored."

Special supplies? Ning Yu's heart skipped a beat, and various rumors about this abandoned military base flashed through his mind. It was said that this place had once been a research and storage site for highly dangerous weapons... Could it be...?

"There's no time to think about it anymore. We must take down the protective barrier first!" Ning Yu made a decisive decision. He knew that in the current situation, hesitation would only put him in a more passive position.

He turned his gaze back to the protective barrier, only to see that the barrier, which had been teetering on the brink of collapse, seemed to have stabilized somewhat after the alarm sounded. The eerie blue light flickered with a strange brilliance, as if mocking their overestimation of their abilities.

"Damn it!" Ning Yu cursed under his breath. He knew they didn't have much time left. He turned to Mu Xue and said in a deep voice, "Mu Xue, cover me!"

Mu Xue didn't speak, but nodded firmly. A flash of silver light appeared in her hand, and two sharp metal daggers instantly appeared in her hand. She moved nimbly, like a cheetah, rushing into the depths of the warehouse, the direction from which the alarm sounded, and also the place where unknown dangers lurked.

"Everyone, attack the barrier with all your might! Break through it at all costs!" Ning Yu gave the order, and everyone no longer hesitated. They took out their weapons and pushed their supernatural abilities to the limit. Multicolored lights intertwined, like dazzling fireworks, but with deadly danger, and surged wildly toward the protective barrier.

The alarm blared more and more urgently, like a death knell striking everyone's heart. In the shadows deep within the warehouse, something seemed to be awakening, slowly approaching with a suffocating sense of oppression.

Ning Yu stared intently at the protective barrier. He could sense that the barrier was about to be breached, but he also knew that the real test had only just begun... Just then, a series of heavy footsteps suddenly came from the depths of the warehouse, accompanied by the ear-piercing sound of metal scraping against metal. They grew closer and clearer, as if some enormous creature was approaching them.
