Chapter 162 Barriers Stand in the Sky, The Path to Break Through Them

"boom!"

Ning Yu was thrown back again, crashing heavily onto the hard ground. He groaned and tried to struggle to his feet, but felt a sharp pain shooting through his limbs, as if all the bones in his body had been crushed. The backlash from overusing his superpower was far more severe than he had imagined.

"Ning Yu!" Mu Xue rushed to his side anxiously and helped him up, his body swaying precariously. "How are you? Don't push yourself anymore!"

The surrounding team members also gathered around, each with a face full of worry. They had tried various methods—explosives, heavy weapons, and even combining the power of all the superpowered individuals—but they still couldn't budge the protective barrier that emitted a faint blue light.

Ning Yu's face was frighteningly pale, and cold sweat soaked his clothes. He looked down at his slightly trembling hands, his heart filled with helplessness and frustration. He knew this was no ordinary energy barrier; it seemed to be connected to some far more powerful energy source, easily neutralizing any direct attack.

"Is...is there really no way out for us?" a team member murmured, his voice filled with despair.

The warehouse, so close yet so far, contained enough supplies to rebuild their homes in the desolate post-apocalyptic world, but this seemingly flimsy barrier rendered it an unreachable illusion. A suffocating atmosphere weighed heavily on everyone's hearts like a boulder, making it hard to breathe.

Ning Yu took a deep breath, enduring the excruciating pain in his body, and slowly stood up. He stared at the seemingly insurmountable barrier before him, his gaze sharp as a hawk's, his mind racing as he considered a solution.

"No, there must be a way..." Ning Yu murmured to himself, his tone firm, "There must be another way..."

He closed his eyes, channeling the last vestiges of his supernatural power, carefully sensing the energy fluctuations around him. Suddenly, as if struck by a thought, he abruptly opened his eyes, a glint of brilliance flashing within them.

“Xue’er,” Ning Yu turned to look at Mu Xue, a confident smile playing on his lips, “I need you…”

Before he could finish speaking, Mu Xue interrupted him: "What do you want to do? Your body..."

"Trust me," Ning Yu said, holding her hand with a determined look in his eyes, "This time, I have a plan."

As he spoke, he was about to activate his supernatural power again, but Mu Xue grabbed him.

"Wait!" She looked directly into his eyes, her tone tinged with worry and determination. "Let me see first..."

"Trust me." Ning Yu grasped Mu Xue's hand in return, his eyes resolute. "This time, I have a way." As he spoke, energy fluctuations flickered at his fingertips, and he was about to activate his supernatural power again.

"Wait!" Mu Xue pulled him behind her with a sudden force, her tone urgent yet undeniably resolute, "Let me take a look first."

Ning Yu was taken aback. Looking at Mu Xue's determined eyes, he finally nodded and withdrew his supernatural power. He knew Mu Xue too well; he knew she would never stop him without a reason, unless... unless she discovered something.

Mu Xue didn't speak, but simply closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and expanded her perception to its limit. Her special ability was to manipulate metal, but at the same time, she also had an extraordinary sensitivity to the flow of energy.

Time ticked by, and fine beads of sweat began to appear on Mu Xue's forehead, her face growing paler. Ning Yu waited anxiously beside her, but dared not utter a sound to disturb her, lest he influence her judgment.

Finally, Mu Xue opened her eyes, a glint of light flashing in them, and a confident smile curved her lips. "I've found a way."

"What method?" Ning Yu and his teammates asked in unison, a glimmer of hope igniting in each of their eyes.

“This barrier…” Mu Xue pointed to the energy barrier that emitted a faint blue light and said slowly, “It absorbs the surrounding energy to sustain itself.”

"Absorbing energy?" Ning Yu frowned slightly, carefully sensing the energy fluctuations around him. Sure enough, he sensed a weak but continuous flow of energy surging toward the barrier.

“That’s right,” Mu Xue nodded. “This barrier is like a bottomless pit, constantly devouring the surrounding energy, which is why we can’t break through it.”

"What should we do then?" a team member asked anxiously. "Are we just going to watch helplessly as the supplies in the warehouse sit there?"

“No, we still have a chance.” A glint of light flashed in Mu Xue’s eyes. “Since it’s absorbing energy, then we just need to…”

She paused deliberately, glanced around at the anxious team members, and a mysterious smile appeared on her lips. "As long as we create a larger energy source and disrupt its energy balance, we can break this barrier!"

"A larger energy source?" Ning Yu pondered for a moment and asked, "But where do we find it..."

"In the warehouse!" Mu Xue said decisively. "I remember there's a large amount of..." She didn't finish her sentence, but turned and walked towards the warehouse, saying as she went, "Follow me!"

Although Ning Yu and her teammates still had some doubts, they followed without hesitation. They trusted Mu Xue as much as they trusted Ning Yu, believing that she would definitely find a solution to the problem.

The warehouse doors were wide open, and it was filled with all sorts of supplies: food, water, medicine, weapons... you name it.

“We need…” Mu Xue glanced around the warehouse, her gaze finally settling on a pile of metal boxes deep inside, “those!”

"What are those?" one of the team members asked.

"yes……"
