When the smoke cleared, what appeared before them was a monster of indescribable size. It seemed to be pieced together from countless twisted metal fragments, its surface covered with sharp blades and spikes, gleaming with a chilling light. The monster's body continued to writhe and deform, as if it were alive, emitting a nauseating stench of decay.
"What...what the hell is this?!" A team member's voice trembled, his eyes filled with terror.
Ning Yu didn't answer, but stared intently at the monster, his brows furrowed. He could sense a powerful energy fluctuation emanating from the monster, several times stronger than the attack released by the barrier earlier.
"We have to get out of here right now!" another team member shouted in panic. "This monster is terrifying!"
"I can't leave..." Mu Xue's voice came weakly. She clutched her chest, her face as pale as paper. "I feel like my superpower... is being suppressed..."
Ning Yu's heart sank. He turned to look at the other team members and found that they were in the same situation as Mu Xue, with fear and helplessness written on their faces.
"Damn it!" Ning Yu cursed under his breath. He knew they were backed into a corner.
"Ning Yu, what should we do now?" Mu Xue gritted her teeth, enduring the pain from her wounds as she stood up, her eyes shining with determination. "We can't just sit here and wait to die!"
Ning Yu took a deep breath, glanced at everyone, and said in a deep voice, "The current situation is very unfavorable for us. We must find a place to hide first, and then think of a solution."
He looked around and spotted an abandoned warehouse not far away. He pointed in the direction of the warehouse and said, "Go there!"
No one dared to delay; they endured the strange sensations in their bodies and stumbled towards the warehouse.
Ning Yu and Mu Xue covered the rear, keeping a watchful eye on the monster's movements while providing cover for the other team members' retreat.
"roar--!"
The monster seemed to sense their intentions, letting out a deafening roar, its massive body jerking violently as it charged towards them.
"Run!" Ning Yu roared, releasing powerful mental energy in an attempt to stop the monster.
However, the moment his spiritual power came into contact with the monster, it vanished without a trace, like a clay ox sinking into the sea.
"It's no use, this guy's defense is too strong!" Mu Xue's expression changed. She reached out and grabbed Ning Yu's arm, growling, "Let's go!"
The two of them exerted all their strength and finally rushed into the warehouse before the monster could catch up.
Ning Yu slammed the warehouse door shut behind him, propped it up with several thick steel bars, and then breathed a sigh of relief.
However, before they could even catch their breath, a strange chill suddenly spread from the depths of the warehouse...
"What happened?"
"It's so cold..."
"My body..."
Ning Yu and Mu Xue exchanged a glance, their eyes filled with solemnity. The air in the warehouse seemed to freeze instantly, and a biting chill, like an invisible venomous snake, quickly coiled around everyone's bodies. The team members, who had just been shaken, were now even paler, and the sound of their teeth chattering was particularly clear in the silent warehouse.
"Cold...so cold..." A team member hugged himself tightly, trying to draw some warmth, but it was no use. He felt like his blood was freezing.
“My superpower… seems to be unusable…” Another team member was horrified to discover that the arc of electricity that had been dancing in his hand had become extremely weak, like a candle flickering in the wind, which could be extinguished at any moment.
Ning Yu's brows furrowed deeper and deeper. He could feel a strange energy fluctuation permeating the surrounding air, constantly absorbing the heat and causing the temperature to drop sharply. Worse still, this energy fluctuation was also suppressing their supernatural abilities, leaving them weak and powerless.
"Could it be that monster's doing?" Mu Xue's voice trembled slightly as she clenched her fists, struggling against the biting cold. "What exactly does it want?"
Ning Yu didn't answer. He walked to the warehouse window and looked up at the sky. The originally gray sky had become unusually clear, like the calm before a storm. And in that clear sky, the huge protective barrier still floated silently, but the light that had been flickering was now exceptionally bright, as if it was gathering some terrifying power.
“No, it’s not that monster…” Ning Yu suddenly said in a deep voice, his eyes fixed on the protective barrier, “It’s this!”
"It?" Mu Xue was stunned for a moment, then followed Ning Yu's gaze, her face showing disbelief. "You mean... the protective barrier?"
Ning Yu nodded and said in a deep voice, "I have a bad feeling... It hasn't failed, but is accumulating energy, preparing to launch an even more powerful attack!"
"What?!"
The team members were immediately thrown into an uproar; their already pale faces turned even more ashen. If Ning Yu was telling the truth, then they were facing a devastating disaster.
"We must destroy it completely before it attacks again!" Mu Xue gritted her teeth, her eyes flashing with determination.
However, as soon as she finished speaking, she felt a strong sense of weakness wash over her, and her body swayed precariously.
Ning Yu quickly caught her and asked with concern, "Are you alright?"
Mu Xue shook her head and said with a wry smile, "I'm fine, it's just..."
Before she could finish speaking, Ning Yu interrupted her. He looked at the team members around him and said in a deep voice, "I know you are all very weak right now, but we don't have time. We must act immediately!"
