The sky was dark and gloomy, filled with choking dust. The collapsed warehouse ruins, like the grave of a giant beast, silently recounted the harrowing escape that had just taken place. Mu Xue gripped Ning Yu's cold hand tightly, her fingertips almost digging into his flesh, but she was oblivious, her eyes fixed on Ning Yu's bloodless face.
"Captain, his breathing is getting weaker and weaker!" A team member's voice trembled noticeably, but it was exceptionally clear in the deathly silence.
"Don't panic!" Mu Xueqiang suppressed her panic, but her voice still trembled slightly. "Take him to a safe place first."
Several team members carefully lifted Ning Yu and looked around. The desolate ruins were completely exposed, and the dark figures in the distance were getting closer and closer, like vicious dogs from hell, greedily sniffing out the scent of the living.
"Go that way!" Mu Xue pointed to a pile of jagged rocks in the distance. Although it couldn't completely hide them, it could at least provide some cover.
The team members helped each other, carried the loads, and staggered toward the pile of rubble. Everyone was on edge, sweat mixed with dust, which etched deep lines on their faces.
"Waaah—"
A strange wind suddenly surged out from the depths of the ruins, accompanied by a sharp whistling sound, as if it were the howling of evil spirits from the depths of hell.
"Watch out! Something's there!"
Before Mu Xue could finish speaking, a strange wind, like an invisible giant hand, slammed down on everyone.
"Earthen wall!"
"Golden Shield!"
The team members unleashed their supernatural abilities in an attempt to resist the strange wind. However, the wind seemed to contain some kind of eerie power; the earthen wall collapsed instantly, the golden shield groaned under the strain, and several weaker team members were thrown to the ground, groaning in pain.
"Damn it!" Mu Xue cursed under her breath, instantly activating her water-based superpower. A water curtain rose in front of everyone, barely blocking the onslaught of the strange wind.
"Cough cough..."
The team members, who were hit head-on by the strange wind, coughed painfully, with bright red blood seeping from the corners of their mouths.
Mu Xue was extremely anxious but helpless. She could only watch as her teammates fell one by one, while the dark figures drew closer and closer, as if they would devour them in the next second.
"Mu Xue..." Ning Yu's weak voice suddenly rang out, like a candle flame flickering in a storm, which could be extinguished at any moment.
Mu Xue's heart skipped a beat. She looked down and saw that Ning Yu's originally tightly closed eyes had slightly opened, with a faint light flickering in them, but that light was filled with pain and struggle.
"Hang in there, Ning Yu, we'll be safe soon..."
Before Mu Xue could finish speaking, she was interrupted by an even stronger gust of strange wind. She felt a sudden darkness before her eyes, and a powerful force threw her away, causing her to crash heavily into the pile of rocks.
“Ning Yu…”
A sharp pain shot through her limbs, and Mu Xue gritted her teeth, struggling to get up from the pile of rocks. Before her, yellow sand filled the sky, and a strange wind raged, blowing the team members this way and that, making it difficult for them to maintain their defensive posture.
"Ning Yu!" Mu Xue's heart sank. She stumbled and rushed to Ning Yu's side, only to find that Ning Yu's face was even paler and his breathing was even weaker, as if he might stop breathing at any moment.
"Damn it, where did this ghostly wind come from?" Mu Xue looked up at the sandstorm-filled sky, but could see nothing but the chilling howling sound, as if evil spirits from the deepest hell were roaring in her ears.
"Captain, this can't go on. Our powers are about to give out!" a team member said, his face pale and his voice trembling.
Mu Xue looked around. Her teammates were all nearly exhausted. Their abilities were not good at defense, let alone in this strange wind. It was already their limit to have lasted this long.
"Everyone, concentrate your efforts and protect the captain!" Mu Xue made a decisive decision and gave the order.
Without hesitation, the team members gathered their remaining supernatural abilities together, forming a faint light screen that enveloped Ning Yu and Mu Xue.
The strange wind seemed to sense the threat and roared even more wildly, causing the light screen to tremble violently as if it would shatter at any moment.
"Hold on! You must hold on!" Mu Xue gripped Ning Yu's hand tightly, as if trying to transfer her strength to him.
Time passed second by second, and the strange wind showed no signs of abating. Meanwhile, the team members' faces grew paler and paler, and sweat mixed with blood rolled down their foreheads.
"boom--"
With a loud bang, one of the team members finally exhausted his superpower. His body was blown away by the strange wind like a kite with a broken string, and he crashed heavily into the pile of rocks. His fate was unknown.
"Third brother!"
"Hang in there, we will definitely bring you back!"
The team members were filled with grief and indignation, but they were powerless to do anything and could only watch helplessly as their comrade fell.
"Hahaha... Die, all of you, die..."
A sinister and terrifying laugh seemed to come from the strange wind, sending chills down one's spine.
Mu Xue's heart sank. Was she really going to die here today?
Just then, she suddenly felt a strange movement under her feet. Looking down, her face turned deathly pale.
"Oh no! Get out of the way!"
Before she could finish speaking, vines suddenly sprouted from the ground, coiling towards the group as if they were alive… “Get out of the way!” Mu Xue shoved aside her teammates, barely dodging an attack from a thick vine. The vine persisted, changing direction and coiling towards Mu Xue again with astonishing speed. Mu Xue drew her dagger and slashed fiercely at the vine, but only left a shallow white mark on its surface.
