Chapter 173 Survival in a Desperate Situation, Hope Fades

"Speed up!" she said in a deep voice. "Get through this area as quickly as possible!"

The team members dared not slack off, and despite their fatigue, they quickened their pace.

However, they had no idea what awaited them...

The rain lashed relentlessly, its chill penetrating to the bone. Mu Xue gripped the steel pipe tightly, her arms aching from the prolonged battle. The team members were in no better shape; everyone was wounded and exhausted.

"Captain, my superpower... has completely disappeared..." A team member's voice trembled slightly.

Mu Xue gritted her teeth and whispered, "Hang in there, we'll be there soon!"

The massive shadow of the bomber wreckage loomed over them, like a monstrous beast ready to devour them. As they drew closer, the invisible pressure grew ever stronger. The team members' supernatural abilities had completely failed; they could only rely on their rudimentary weapons and mortal bodies to fight the monsters emerging from the ruins.

These monsters resembled irrational humans, their bodies rotting and emitting a foul stench. They moved slowly yet tirelessly, fearlessly lunging at the group, greedily trying to tear at their flesh.

"Ah!" One of the team members was unable to dodge in time and was pounced on by a monster.

"Fifth brother!"

With lightning speed, Mu Xue swung the steel pipe and smashed it hard on the monster's head. Rotten flesh and bone flew everywhere, emitting a nauseating stench.

"Quickly, pull him up!"

The other team members rushed forward and pulled the teammate out of the monster horde. Fortunately, he only suffered minor injuries.

The battle continued. The team members stood back to back, forming a simple defensive formation, desperately trying to hold off the monsters' attacks. However, their strength was exhausted, and the monsters before them seemed endless.

"Captain, this can't go on, we'll be worn down!" a team member shouted anxiously.

Mu Xue glanced around, a resolute glint in her eyes. "Charge! Our target is that bomber!"

With that, she took the lead and rushed towards the wreckage of the bomber. Seeing this, the team members mustered their last bit of courage and followed closely behind.

The monsters roared and chased after them, but they were no match for the humans.

Finally, they reached the shadow of the bomber wreckage. However, before they could even catch their breath, an even colder chill swept over them.

“There seems to be something here…” a team member said, his voice trembling as he pointed to the interior of the bomber wreckage.

Mu Xue took a deep breath, gripped the steel pipe in her hand, and said in a deep voice, "Go in and take a look."

At the entrance to the bomber wreckage, a huge metal door was half-open, and it was pitch black inside, with nothing visible.

"Walk."

Mu Xue stepped into the doorway, and her teammates followed closely behind, disappearing into the darkness.

The interior of the bomber wreckage was more spacious than expected, and the air was filled with a strange smell of engine oil and decay, making one almost nauseous. With the help of the faint light filtering in from the outside, everyone could make out the scene inside.

A massive steel skeleton crisscrossed, with various dashboards and wiring piled up haphazardly, most of them severely damaged, leaving only broken parts to tell of its former glory. On the ground, besides a thick layer of dust, there were many monster corpses of various shapes, emitting a foul stench.

"It should be safe here now..." a team member said, panting, with a hint of relief in his voice.

"Don't let your guard down!" Mu Xue whispered sharply. "Check the surroundings and see if there are any other living monsters."

The team members dared not slack off, mustered their spirits, gripped their weapons tightly, and carefully searched their surroundings.

"Captain, look!" A team member pointed to a pile of junk in the corner, his voice tinged with fear.

Mu Xue looked in the direction her teammate was pointing and saw that the pile of debris was trembling slightly, as if something was hidden inside.

"careful!"

As soon as Mu Xue finished speaking, the pile of debris suddenly exploded, and a dark figure lunged at the nearest team member.

The team member couldn't dodge in time and was tackled to the ground by the dark figure, letting out a scream.

Mu Xue reacted swiftly, swinging the steel pipe and smashing it hard against the shadowy figure. The figure screamed in pain, released the team member, and turned to run deeper into the area.

"Chase!"

Mu Xue and her team gave chase until they reached the other side of the bomber wreckage, where they discovered that the dark figure had escaped through a broken window.

Damn it!

Mu Xue walked to the window and looked out, only to see a desolate ruin outside, with no trace of the dark figure in sight.

The team members arrived one after another, panting and pale. The long battle and escape had exhausted them.

"Captain, what do we do now?" a team member asked, his voice tinged with despair.

Mu Xue looked around, feeling utterly helpless. They were trapped in this godforsaken place, their food and water supplies exhausted, and countless monsters lurked outside.

Just then, a team member suddenly pointed to a building in the distance and exclaimed, "Captain, look over there!"

Mu Xue looked in the direction her teammate was pointing and saw a building standing alone in the ruins not far from them, looking particularly conspicuous in the afterglow of the setting sun.

What place is that?

"I don't know, but it looks like... a shelter."

Hope was rekindled in everyone's hearts.

However, what they didn't know was that the building wasn't a shelter, but rather...

"Let's go take a look!" Mu Xue gritted her teeth and led the way toward the building.
