The red indicator lights on the control panel pounded at Mu Xue's heart like the approaching footsteps of death. The electronic warning voice still echoed in her ears, yet an eerie silence fell over the room. This silence lasted only a moment. The next second, the crimson eyes of the mechanical puppets blazed brightly, like demons crawling out of the abyss of hell, lunging at the group with chilling killing intent.
"Sister Xue, watch out!" A teammate standing next to Mu Xue exclaimed and tackled her to the ground. Almost simultaneously, a blinding red light swept over their heads, followed by a deafening roar of metal slamming into a wall.
"Damn it! How did this thing suddenly become so powerful?" Another team member dodged the mechanical puppet's attacks in a sorry state, cold sweat already beading on his forehead. Their superpowers seemed to have no effect on these puppets; every punch and every kick felt like hitting indestructible steel, unable to budge them in the slightest.
Mu Xue scrambled to her feet, ignoring the dust on her face, and shouted anxiously, "Everyone, get back quickly! Let's find a way to get out of here!"
However, it was too late. The mechanical puppets had already sealed off the entire room. Their movements were swift and precise, each attack striking vital points without mercy. Several team members were unable to dodge in time, were struck by the puppets, and collapsed into pools of blood with painful groans.
"Captain! What do we do? We're trapped!" a team member cried out in despair.
Ning Yu's face was terribly grim. He swung his long sword, slashing away a mechanical puppet that tried to sneak up on him. But before he could catch his breath, even more puppets surrounded him.
"Xue'er, how are things on your end?" Ning Yu asked anxiously while fending off the puppet's attacks.
"No! These puppets seem to be controlled by something, and my powers are completely ineffective against them!" Mu Xue's voice trembled slightly as she desperately tried to restart the control panel, only to find that the screen was filled with a blinding red light and she couldn't see anything.
Despair spread like a plague among the crowd, forcing them to retreat to a corner of the room, their backs against the cold wall, their faces etched with fear and despair.
"Are we really going to die here today?" one of the team members muttered to himself, his voice filled with despair.
“No, there must be another way…” Mu Xue bit her lip, her gaze sweeping back and forth across the frantically attacking mechanical puppets, trying to find their weakness. However, these puppets were made entirely of hard metal, and there was absolutely no flaw to be found…
"Xue'er, don't waste your energy..." Ning Yu's voice suddenly rang in her ear, tinged with bitterness, "These puppets... they're already..."
Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by a violent cough. Mu Xuexin's heart sank, and she turned to look at Ning Yu, only to see that his face was frighteningly pale, and a trace of blood was even seeping from the corner of his mouth. Clearly, he had suffered severe internal injuries in the fight just now.
"Ning Yu, how are you?" Mu Xue asked anxiously, wanting to go forward to check his injuries, but was forced back by the surging mechanical puppets.
"I'm fine..." Ning Yu took a deep breath, enduring the excruciating pain in his body, and brandished his long sword, charging back into the group of puppets.
However, before he could even regain his footing, the mechanical puppets suddenly stopped attacking, a strange light flashing in their crimson eyes. The next second, a powerful electric current erupted from them, instantly engulfing the entire room like an invisible electric net.
"ah!"
"careful!"
Caught off guard, everyone was struck by electric current, their bodies instantly paralyzed and unable to move. Mu Xue felt a sharp pain all over her body, her vision went black, and she lost consciousness.
She didn't know how much time had passed before she slowly woke up. Everything before her eyes was still blurry, and she could hear the crackling of electricity and the painful groans of her companions.
“Sister Xue…you’re awake…” A weak voice rang in her ear. Mu Xue struggled to turn her head and saw a teammate lying next to her, pale-faced and with purple lips, obviously a sequela of being struck by electric current.
"Where are the others? Where is Ning Yu?" Mu Xue struggled to stand up, enduring the numbness in her body.
"The captain..." The team member opened his mouth, as if he wanted to say something, but then seemed to suddenly think of something terrible, his face turned pale instantly, and his eyes were filled with fear.
"What happened to him? Tell me quickly!" Mu Xue's heart sank suddenly, and an ominous premonition surged into her heart.
The team member took a deep breath, as if making a decision, and said in a trembling voice, "The captain... he was also struck by electricity... and..."
"And what? Tell me quickly!" Mu Xue asked anxiously, her heart pounding in her throat.
“And… the captain seems to be… with those puppets…” The team member stopped mid-sentence, his eyes widening in terror as he looked behind Mu Xue, his pupils contracting sharply as if he had seen something utterly terrifying.

"Ning Yu! How are you? Can you recognize me?" Mu Xue's heart felt as if it were being gripped tightly by an invisible hand. She desperately tried to get closer to Ning Yu, but was blocked by those menacing mechanical puppets.
