Just then, several dark figures darted out from the holes in the wall, pounced on the group like ghosts. These figures were small in size, but extremely agile, their sharp claws gleaming coldly, making them impossible to defend against.
"careful!"
One team member was unable to dodge in time and was tackled to the ground by a small black shadow. Sharp claws left several deep, bone-revealing bloody marks on his arm.
"ah!"
He let out a scream, his weapon fell to the ground, and blood instantly stained the ground red.
"Fifth brother!"
Seeing this, the team members immediately rushed to help, unleashing flames from their hands to force the small black shadow back. However, more black shadows surged in from all directions, engulfing everyone like a black tide.
A fierce battle unfolded in the darkness, with gunshots, shouts, and screams mingling together to create a scene resembling a living hell.
Mu Xue brandished her ice blade, weaving through the shadows like an ice queen, leaving frost in her wake. However, even she gradually felt her strength waning, her wounds multiplying, and blood staining her clothes.
"Sister Xue, this can't go on!" one of the team members shouted anxiously. "We'll be worn down here!"
Mu Xue looked around anxiously. They had gone deep into the building, and the light was getting dimmer. They could only rely on the faint light from their supernatural abilities for illumination, but this also gave them away, making them easy targets.
The deafening roar rang out again, seemingly exploding right next to their ears, making them dizzy. Mu Xue looked up and saw that they had arrived in front of a huge door, which was tightly closed and covered with the marks of time. The roar was coming from behind the door.
"Sister Xue, what do we do?" The team members gathered around, panting, their faces filled with exhaustion and fear. "Should we open this door?"
Mu Xue didn't speak, but stared intently at the door, her eyes flashing with a complex light.
What is hidden behind the door?
Heavy breathing echoed through the empty corridor. Everyone gripped their weapons tightly, their clothes soaked with sweat. They had just fought a fierce battle against small shadow creatures, and although they had successfully repelled them, exhaustion and fear were etched on their faces.
“Sister Xue, this door…” a team member said in a trembling voice, his eyes filled with unease and doubt.
Mu Xue didn't answer. Her amber eyes were fixed on the massive metal door, as if trying to see right through it. The door was covered in mottled rust; the marks of time had left indelible marks on it. It seemed like a gateway to another world, filled with the unknown and danger.
"Could there be more monsters behind the door?" Another team member's voice trembled slightly, clearly terrified by the previous battle.
"Or perhaps the source of that roar was behind the door?"
"What should we do, Sister Xue?" All eyes were on Mu Xue, waiting for her decision.
Mu Xue took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. She understood that now was not the time to hesitate; they had to make a choice as soon as possible: whether to move forward or turn back.
"Has there been any news from Ning Yu yet?" Mu Xue turned to look at a teammate beside her, who was in charge of communications.
"No, communications haven't been restored." The team member shook his head, his face full of anxiety.
Mu Xue's heart sank. She knew all too well what a communication blackout meant. Ning Yu was likely in even greater danger; they had to find him as soon as possible!
"We can't wait any longer!" A resolute glint flashed in Mu Xue's eyes. "We must open this door!"
"But……"
"No buts!" Mu Xue interrupted the team member. "We have no way out! If Ning Yu is really inside, we can't abandon him!"
The team members fell silent; they knew Mu Xue was right.
Mu Xue took a deep breath, slowly raised her right hand, and a ball of bone-chilling ice condensed in her palm.
"Prepare for battle!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Mu Xue slammed the ice puck in her hand into the huge metal door...
