"Captain, we have to get out of here right away, this place is too dangerous!" a team member shouted anxiously.
“Yes, let’s go!” Mu Xue wiped away her tears and, together with her teammates, lifted the stretcher and moved towards the cave entrance.
However, just as they were about to reach the cave entrance, a sudden change occurred. Ning Yu, who had been lying unconscious on the stretcher, suddenly felt as heavy as if filled with lead, as if an invisible force was pulling him tightly, rendering him unable to move.
"What happened?"
"Captain, Captain, he..."
Mu Xue's heart tightened, and she held Ning Yu tightly, preventing him from being pulled away by that force. "Let him go! Let him go!"
"Mu Xue, let go! Let go now!" Ning Yu suddenly opened his eyes, his eyes filled with pain and anxiety.
"No! I won't let go! I won't let go no matter what!" Mu Xue's tears fell like beads from a broken string, but she held Ning Yu's arms even tighter.
"You..." Ning Yu wanted to say something, but the force grew stronger and stronger. He felt his body being pulled away little by little, away from Mu Xue, away from this world...
"No—" Mu Xue let out a heart-wrenching scream, but in the end she still couldn't stop Ning Yu, and watched helplessly as he was swallowed up by that invisible force...
"Captain! Look over there!" A team member shouted in terror, pointing to the spot where Ning Yu had disappeared.
Mu Xue suddenly looked up and saw a black crack appear there...
The black crack twisted a few times and then disappeared, as if it had never existed. Ning Yu, too, vanished without a trace.
"A-Ning! A-Ning!" Mu Xue rushed frantically to where the crack disappeared, waving her hands in vain, trying to grab onto something, but only found emptiness. Tears blurred her vision, and she knelt on the ground, pounding the ground helplessly, her heart-wrenching cries echoing through the ruins.
The team members looked at each other, unsure of what to say or do. They had never seen the usually strong Mu Xue so distraught; each of them felt as if a huge boulder was pressing down on their hearts, making it hard to breathe.
"Captain..." Zhang Qiang struggled to step forward to comfort her, but was held back by his teammates. They all knew that saying anything now would be useless; they could only wait for Mu Xue to calm down.
After an unknown amount of time, Mu Xue's cries gradually subsided, leaving only intermittent sobs. She slowly stood up, hastily wiping away her tears with her sleeve, her eyes filled with sorrow and despair, but even more so, with a resolute determination.
"Take Aning back." Mu Xue's voice was terribly hoarse, but her tone was firm and left no room for argument.
The team members silently lifted the unconscious Ning Yu onto a stretcher and followed behind Mu Xue, heading towards the base. They had just survived a life-or-death escape, with buildings reduced to ruins behind them, but no one felt relieved, because they didn't know what kind of future awaited them.
As the sun set, the crimson afterglow cast long, elongated shadows, reflecting the somber expressions on everyone's faces. Mu Xue walked at the head of the group, her gaze fixed firmly ahead, but her clenched fists and slightly trembling shoulders betrayed her inner unease.
"Captain, there's movement ahead!" a member at the front of the group suddenly whispered.
Mu Xue abruptly stopped, signaling the group to halt. "Alert!"
Everyone immediately went into battle mode, their eyes scanning their surroundings warily. An uneasy atmosphere filled the air, making it hard to breathe.
"roar--"
