Dr. Zhao began to explain some basic knowledge about superpowers, from gene mutations to energy forms, from the classification of superpowers to application techniques, but much of it was content that Ning Yu already knew or found difficult to understand.
“Wait,” Ning Yu couldn’t help but interrupt, “I know all that, I need more in-depth information, such as…”
"Enough, Doctor!" Liu, who had been silent all along, suddenly stood up excitedly, pointed at Ning Yu, and shouted, "You can't tell him any more! He's dangerous! We don't know where he came from, or what his purpose is..."
"Young Master Liu!" Dr. Zhao snapped sternly, "Step back!"
Liu Xiaodi reluctantly shut his mouth, but his eyes were still full of vigilance and hostility as he looked at Ning Yu.
“I’m sorry,” Dr. Zhao nodded to Ning Yu, signaling him to continue.
Ning Yu took a deep breath, suppressing his agitation. He knew he couldn't afford to clash with Liu Xiaodi right now, or things would only get worse.
“I need to know how to control my power,” Ning Yu said, trying to keep a calm tone. “My abilities are very unstable, and I’m worried…”
Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly felt a sharp headache, as if a sharp needle had pierced his brain. He clutched his head in pain, and his vision blurred.
Upon seeing this, Dr. Zhao immediately stepped forward to support Ning Yu and helped him to a chair to sit down.
"What's wrong?" Dr. Zhao asked with concern.
"I..." Ning Yu gasped for breath, his face pale, "I feel my power... is about to get out of control..."
Dr. Zhao frowned and reached out to touch Ning Yu's forehead, a wave of scorching heat washing over him.
"This is bad," Dr. Zhao's expression changed, "your energy fluctuations are very unstable, it's like..."
Before he could finish speaking, the lights in the room suddenly began to flicker, and the equipment emitted a series of piercing alarm sounds.
Liu Xiaodi pointed at Ning Yu in terror, his voice trembling as he said, "He...he's going to..."
Dr. Zhao abruptly raised his head, his gaze fixed on Ning Yu, and said, word by word, "You're going to suffer an energy backlash..." "Energy backlash?" Ning Yu gritted his teeth, trying to stay awake. "What do you mean?" A severe headache distorted everything before his eyes, and a sharp buzzing sound filled his ears, as if the whole world was collapsing. He felt as if countless ants were gnawing at his body, and scorching energy surged and crashed within him, as if it would explode at any moment.
"Simply put, your body cannot withstand the power of your superpower," Dr. Zhao said quickly, but each word was clear and forceful. "It's like a container; if it's filled with more than its capacity, it will break."
"What should I do?" Ning Yu struggled to his feet, but felt a wave of dizziness and almost fell to the ground. He grabbed the table, breathing heavily, large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. He sensed that his time was running out. If he didn't get effective help soon, he would face the danger of energy backlash again, even more dangerous than before.
"Calm down! Only by calming down can you control your power!" Dr. Zhao's voice seemed to pierce through the fog, allowing Ning Yu to regain some of his rationality. He closed his eyes, trying to control his raging energy, but with little success.
“I need… more specific advice…” Ning Yu said intermittently, feeling his consciousness gradually fading and the energy fluctuations within his body becoming increasingly intense.
Dr. Zhao did not answer directly. He strode to a metal cabinet, entered a complex password, and took out a black box. He opened the box, inside which was a syringe filled with blue liquid.
"What is this?" Ning Yu asked, forcing himself to endure the discomfort. His intuition told him that this medicine might help him, but it could also bring greater danger.
“There’s an inhibitor that can temporarily suppress your powers,” Dr. Zhao explained, his tone hesitant, “but this isn’t a long-term solution. Your situation is very special, and I need more time to study it…”
"It's too late!" Ning Yu snatched the syringe and plunged it into his arm without hesitation. The blue liquid quickly flowed into his veins, bringing a cool sensation. He felt the raging energy within him being doused with cold water, gradually calming down.
"How are you feeling now?" Dr. Zhao asked with concern.
Ning Yu closed his eyes, carefully sensing the changes in his body. After a moment, he opened his eyes, a hint of doubt flashing in them. "I feel much better, and the energy fluctuations have stabilized, but this seems to be only treating the symptoms, not the root cause..."
Dr. Zhao nodded. "That's right. The inhibitor can only temporarily suppress your abilities. To completely solve the problem, you still need..."
Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by hurried footsteps. The laboratory door was flung open, and a tall figure appeared in the doorway. "Doctor, something terrible has happened..."
