Chapter 21 First Mastery of Supernatural Powers, A Glimmer of Dawn

"Not good!" Brother Wu's expression changed drastically. Without thinking, he rushed forward and pushed Ning Yu away.

A golden light flashed past Brother Wu's arm, and a scorching wave of air knocked him to the ground. When he got up, he saw a charred patch of ground where some miscellaneous items had been piled up, now reduced to ashes.

"Cough cough..." Ning Yu leaned against the wall, his face pale, large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. He had just felt that he was about to break through the ten-minute barrier, but he didn't expect the energy to suddenly go out of control, and he almost hurt Brother Wu.

"Are you alright?" Brother Wu, without even checking his own injuries, rushed to Ning Yu's side, his eyes filled with worry.

Ning Yu shook his head and said with a wry smile, "I'm fine, it's just this superpower..."

“It seems your previous guess was correct,” Dr. Zhao, who had been silently observing, approached with a grave expression. “The energy within you is stronger and more unstable than we imagined. Although you have found the key to control it, this is only the first step. You are like a child who has just learned to walk, unable to control your body flexibly. One wrong move and you could fall, or even…”

Dr. Zhao didn't continue, but Ning Yu understood his meaning. If that energy hadn't grazed past Brother Wu but struck him directly, the consequences would have been unimaginable. Thinking of this, Ning Yu felt a chill run down his spine; he was terrified by his earlier arrogance.

"I understand, Dr. Zhao. I will be more careful." Ning Yu took a deep breath, his eyes resolute. "I will definitely take complete control of this power and prevent it from getting out of control again!"

Over the next few days, Ning Yu spent almost all his time practicing controlling his supernatural abilities, except for eating and sleeping. He dared not slack off in the slightest, knowing that he was dancing on a knife's edge, and that the slightest mistake would lead to utter destruction.

Brother Wu and Dr. Zhao took turns guiding him and protecting him to prevent any accidents. With their help, Ning Yu gradually became more proficient in controlling his supernatural abilities, and the frequency of his energy going out of control decreased.

"Nine minutes and thirty seconds... nine minutes and forty-five seconds... nine minutes and fifty-five seconds..." Brother Wu's voice trembled slightly, his eyes filled with anticipation.

Ning Yu held his breath, focusing intently on controlling the energy within his body, preventing it from fluctuating in the slightest. Time ticked by, and he felt like a taut bowstring, ready to snap at any moment.

"Ten...ten..." Brother Wu was about to cheer when he saw Ning Yu suddenly groan and sway, with golden light flickering in his palm.

"What's wrong?" Brother Wu and Dr. Zhao asked anxiously at the same time.

Ning Yu took a deep breath, slowly opened his eyes, a hint of weariness flashing in them, but unable to conceal the light of excitement: "I'm fine, it's just..." He paused, looking at Liu Xiaodi who had remained silent, a meaningful smile playing on his lips, "It seems some people don't really want me to succeed..."

"Ha, playing tricks." Liu Xiaodi, who had been silent all along, suddenly spoke up, his tone filled with undisguised sarcasm. "I thought you really had some skills, but it turns out you were just lucky. This level of control can only fool yourself."

Ning Yu ignored Liu Xiaodi's sarcastic remarks. He knew that any explanation would be futile for such a narrow-minded person. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and focused his attention on the restless energy within his body.

He tried to guide the energy flow as before, but this time, the energy was like a wild horse, becoming violent and uncontrollable. A powerful recoil struck, and Ning Yu groaned, nearly falling to the ground.

"What happened?" Upon seeing this, Brother Wu hurriedly stepped forward to support Ning Yu and asked with concern.

Ning Yu was pale, his forehead covered in cold sweat. He shook his head, indicating that he was alright. However, only he knew that at this moment, it felt as if two forces were fiercely clashing within his body, causing him unbearable pain.

"Don't listen to his nonsense," Brother Wu glared at Little Brother Liu and comforted Ning Yu, "This power is inherently difficult to control. You've only been practicing for a few days, so it's normal to experience some setbacks. Take it slow, don't rush."

“That’s right, Brother Liu, you should say less,” Dr. Zhao, who had been observing from the side, spoke up. His brows were furrowed, as if he had noticed something. “Ning Yu’s situation is indeed a bit special…”

"Hmph, I think he's just putting on a show," Little Brother Liu sneered, "Does he really think he's some chosen one? He's nothing but..."

Before Liu Xiaodi could finish speaking, Ning Yu suddenly opened his eyes, a golden light flashing within them. He abruptly pushed Wu Dage away, staggered back a few steps, his hands clenched into fists, his nails digging deep into his flesh, as if he were trying his best to endure something.

"Ning Yu, what's wrong?" Brother Wu asked worriedly.

Ning Yu didn't answer. He stared intently at his hands, his eyes filled with disbelief and...fear. He felt that the originally violent energy had become incredibly compliant, as if awaiting his command.

This feeling is like...

“It’s afraid…” Ning Yu murmured to himself, his voice trembling slightly, “It’s afraid of me…”

Before anyone else could react, Ning Yu suddenly raised his head, staring intently at Liu Xiaodi, a cold smile playing on his lips.

"You..." Liu Xiaodi felt uneasy under Ning Yu's gaze and subconsciously took a step back, only to find that he couldn't move. An invisible pressure held him firmly in place, making it difficult for him to even breathe.
