“I remember now…” Ning Yu suddenly spoke, his tone low and firm. His gaze was fixed on Liu Xiaodi, a cold smile playing on his lips. “I remember…”
“I remember now…” Ning Yu’s tone was low and firm, like a shooting star streaking across the night sky. Amidst the astonished gazes of the crowd, he slowly walked to the center of the training field, closed his eyes, and began to replay in his mind all the details from the start of the training to the equipment failure.
His thoughts were like a high-speed projector, clearly presenting every scene and every conversation before his eyes. The sweat during training, the hum of the equipment, Brother Wu's encouraging gaze... these fragments of memory were like pearls scattered in the river of time. What Ning Yu needed to do was to pick them up one by one and string them together into a complete chain of evidence.
Dr. Zhao did not interrupt Ning Yu. He kept observing Ning Yu's every move, trying to find a flaw in his expression and actions. He admitted that the evidence provided by Liu Xiaodi was too deliberate, and he also believed in Ning Yu's character, but in the current situation, he had to be cautious and not jump to conclusions.
Time ticked by, but Ning Yu remained standing in the same spot, his brow furrowed, as if engaged in a fierce battle with some unseen enemy. His hands clenched unconsciously, the veins on the back of his hands clearly visible, revealing his extreme tension and anxiety.
"Well? Do you remember now?" Liu Xiaodi was getting impatient. He walked up to Ning Yu, his tone laced with sarcasm. "If you can't remember, I can help you recall..."
Ning Yu ignored Liu Xiaodi, remaining immersed in his own world, desperately searching for that fleeting spark of inspiration. He believed that as long as he didn't give up, he would definitely find the truth.
"That's enough, Brother Liu, you can step back now." Dr. Zhao stopped Brother Liu, walked to Ning Yu's side, patted him on the shoulder, and said gently, "Ning Yu, don't put too much pressure on yourself. Think about it slowly. I believe you are innocent."
Ning Yu opened his eyes and looked at Dr. Zhao with gratitude. He knew that at this critical moment, Dr. Zhao still chose to believe in him, which made him feel warm and empowered.
He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down, and continued to recall the scene. Suddenly, an image flashed through his mind, and he abruptly opened his eyes, a glint of light in them.
"I remember now!" Ning Yu's voice wasn't loud, but it was full of power. He turned around and stared intently at Liu Xiaodi. "I remember now. When I was training, I saw you acting suspiciously near the equipment. What were you doing?"
Ning Yu's words exploded like thunder in the crowd, and everyone's eyes turned to Liu Xiaodi, their eyes filled with surprise and suspicion... The sudden accusation froze the air instantly, and everyone, including Dr. Zhao and Brother Wu, turned to Liu Xiaodi in astonishment. The color drained from Liu Xiaodi's previously smug face at a visible speed, his eyes flickering as if he were desperately trying to think of a solution.
"I...I didn't!" Liu Xiaodi's voice trembled slightly. He subconsciously took a step back, avoiding Ning Yu's piercing gaze. "I was just passing by, I didn't do anything!"
"Just passing by?" Ning Yu pressed on, his tone laced with sarcasm. "I remember clearly, you were acting suspiciously, carrying a toolbox. How do you explain that?"
Ning Yu's words struck Liu Xiaodi's heart like a heavy hammer. His face grew paler, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead. He looked at Dr. Zhao for help, hoping he could say something to help him out of this predicament.
However, Dr. Zhao ignored Liu Xiaodi's pleas for help. His sharp gaze swept back and forth between Ning Yu and Liu Xiaodi, as if he were weighing something. Silence filled the air, making it hard to breathe.
"Ning Yu, are you sure you didn't see it wrong?" After a moment, Dr. Zhao finally spoke, his tone serious and earnest. "This is no small matter; it concerns Brother Liu's reputation. You can't just make things up."
“Dr. Zhao, I swear on my integrity that I am telling the truth.” Ning Yu met Dr. Zhao’s gaze without flinching. “Although I didn’t pay attention at the time, that scene is definitely in my mind, and I can’t remember it wrong.”
"I...I really didn't do anything! You can ask Brother Wu if you don't believe me, he was also at the training ground at the time!" Liu panicked, pointing at Brother Wu, trying to find a witness for himself.
All eyes turned to Brother Wu again, awaiting his answer. Brother Wu pondered for a moment before slowly speaking, "I was indeed at the training ground at the time, but I didn't notice what Little Brother Liu was doing. I was only focused on instructing Ning Yu in his training."
Brother Wu's words made Little Brother Liu's heart sink completely. He slumped to the ground, his eyes vacant, as if he had lost all hope.
"Brother Liu, do you have anything else to say?" Ning Yu looked down at him, her tone icy. "Now, do you still want to throw mud at me?"
Liu Xiaodi bit his lip tightly, remaining silent, but his body trembled slightly, betraying his inner fear and unease.
Seeing Liu Xiaodi's state, Ning Yu knew he was nearing his breaking point. He walked up to Liu Xiaodi, squatted down, and lowered his voice, his tone carrying a hint of warning: "Tell me, why did you do this? Who ordered you to?"
