"Sizzle—"
The dagger plunged deep into the strange bird's abdomen, but it felt like hitting solid rock, producing a teeth-grinding sound. The expected gushing of blood didn't occur; instead, it fueled the bird's ferocity. It let out a deafening screech, violently flapping its wings, creating a whirlwind of sand and gravel that nearly overturned Ning Yu and Mu Xue.
"Damn it, what kind of monster is this?!" Mu Xue cursed under her breath, nimbly leaping backward to barely dodge the strange bird's sharp claws.
Ning Yu watched as the strange bird lunged at him fiercely again, his heart sinking. He knew that a direct confrontation was not the answer. Seizing the opportunity, just as the bird was about to touch him, he thrust the stone in his hand fiercely into the bird's eyes.
"Now!" Ning Yu shouted in his heart.
However, the strange bird seemed to have anticipated Ning Yu's intentions, its massive head tilting slightly to the side, easily dodging Ning Yu's attack. Ning Yu missed his target, lost his balance, and fell heavily forward to the ground.
"Ning Yu!"
Mu Xue's anxious shouts came from the cave entrance. She watched Ning Yu fall, and her heart pounded with worry. She struggled even harder, wanting to get out and help Ning Yu as quickly as possible. However, the harder she struggled, the more pain she felt. Worse still, she discovered that the area outside the cave entrance wasn't flat ground, but a steep slope.
"Damn it! How could this happen!" Mu Xue cursed inwardly, a feeling of despair spreading through her.
At this moment, the strange bird had approached Ning Yu again. It looked down at Ning Yu from its high perch, its eyes gleaming with bloodlust. Ning Yu struggled to stand up, but found that his whole body ached and he was unable to move at all.
"Am I going to die here today?" Ning Yu closed his eyes in despair, awaiting death.
Just then, a dark shadow suddenly flashed past Ning Yu's eyes.
"Ning Yu, watch out!"
Mu Xue's voice rang in my ears, accompanied by a whooshing sound.
Seeing Ning Yu lying motionless under the tree, the strange bird let out a sharp cry, like a victory horn. It slowly flapped its wings and flew above Ning Yu again, looking down at him with cruel pleasure in its eyes.
"Die!" Mu Xue's roar came from afar, accompanied by a whooshing sound.
Sensing the threat, the strange bird turned its head sharply, only to see a dagger hurtling towards it with a gust of wind. It quickly dodged to the side, the dagger barely grazing its feathers.
However, Mu Xue's attack did not end there. She braced herself against the rocks at the edge of the cave entrance and rolled down the slope recklessly.
"Ning Yu!" Ignoring her own pain, Mu Xue scrambled to Ning Yu's side, anxiously checking his injuries. "How are you? Are you hurt?"
Ning Yu coughed a few times, feeling a metallic taste rise in his throat. He struggled to speak, but no sound came out.
"Don't talk, conserve your energy." Mu Xue helped Ning Yu up and let him lean against her.
Seeing that its prey was still alive, the strange bird was enraged. It let out a deafening screech and swooped down on Ning Yu and Mu Xue again.
"You beast, your opponent is me!" Mu Xue shielded Ning Yu behind her, the dagger in her hand gleaming with a cold light.
The strange bird completely disregarded Mu Xue, opening its sharp beak and pecking at Mu Xue's head.
Mu Xue was prepared; she swiftly dodged to the side, avoiding the strange bird's attack. At the same time, the dagger in her hand shot out with lightning speed, plunging deeply into the bird's wing.
The strange bird let out a shrill scream, its massive body staggering. It angrily flapped its wings, trying to overturn Mu Xue.
Mu Xue gripped the dagger tightly, refusing to let go no matter how the strange bird struggled.
"Ning Yu, run!" Mu Xue shouted, using all her strength to push the strange bird away.
Ning Yu knew that staying would only be a burden to Mu Xue. He gritted his teeth, endured the excruciating pain in his body, struggled to his feet, and stumbled away into the distance.
Seeing that Ning Yu was about to run away, the strange bird immediately abandoned its attack on Mu Xue and instead chased after Ning Yu.
"Don't even think about running!" Mu Xue drew her dagger and chased after him without hesitation.
The strange bird was incredibly fast, catching up with Ning Yu in the blink of an eye. It swung its wings at Ning Yu, who couldn't dodge in time and was sent flying, crashing heavily into a tree.
"puff!"
Ning Yu coughed up a mouthful of blood, feeling as if his bones were about to shatter. He struggled to stand up, but his body wouldn't obey him.
Seeing Ning Yu lying motionless under the tree, the strange bird walked towards him. Ning Yu tried to stand up again, but his body wouldn't obey him, and he could only watch helplessly as the strange bird approached step by step…
Seeing this, Mu Xue was frantic with worry. She quickened her pace and ran desperately toward Ning Yu, crying out in despair, "No!"
Seeing Ning Yu lying motionless under the tree, the strange bird strode heavily toward him, each step feeling like a blow to Ning Yu's heart, filling him with despair and suffocation. Its sharp eyes gleamed with bloodlust, as if it could already see Ning Yu about to become its meal.
Ning Yu was still fully conscious. He tried desperately to stand up again, but his body felt like it didn't belong to him. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't move an inch. Intense pain shot through his limbs, causing him to groan involuntarily, but he refused to give up, his eyes burning with an indomitable spirit.
"Ning Yu, hold on! I'm coming!" Mu Xue's voice came from afar, like a ray of dawn in the darkness, giving Ning Yu a glimmer of hope.
