"They're here!" Mu Xue suddenly whispered.
Ning Yu followed Mu Xue's gaze and saw a dark shadow appear in the distant sky, flying towards them. The shadow grew larger and larger, soon revealing the outline of a strange bird.
"Get ready!" Ning Yu whispered, gripping his weapon tightly.
The strange bird seemed oblivious to the danger. It flew low, its sharp eyes scanning the ground as if searching for something. When it reached the vicinity of the trap, Mu Xue grabbed a handful of small stones and threw them towards the other side of the trap.
"Clap clap clap..." The crisp sound rang out in the silent forest, instantly attracting the strange bird's attention. It immediately turned around and flew towards the direction from which the sound came.
"Now is the time!" Ning Yu thought to himself.
The strange bird drew ever closer to the trap, about to fall in. But then, it suddenly stopped. It tilted its head, its crimson eyes fixed on the trap, as if it had sensed something…
The strange bird's sharp eyes, like those of a hawk, were fixed intently on the direction of the trap. It slowly lowered its head, its scarlet tongue licking its sharp beak, as if deep in thought. It didn't rush to pounce on the rocks that had made the noise, but instead paced back and forth along the edge of the trap, occasionally scratching the ground with its claws, seemingly testing something.

Ning Yu remained silent, gripping his weapon tightly, his palms already sweating. He knew that at this moment, any rash move could ruin everything. He held his breath, his eyes fixed on the strange bird's every move, trying to find a weakness.
The strange bird was more vigilant than they had imagined. It hovered around the trap for a long time without ever stepping inside. It would sometimes look down to observe, and sometimes look up to peer around, as if mocking Ning Yu and Mu Xue's futile efforts.
"What should we do? It seems it won't fall for our tricks anymore," Mu Xue said in a low voice, her tone tinged with despair.
Time ticked by, the last rays of the setting sun gradually disappeared below the horizon, and darkness fell over the forest. Ning Yu and Mu Xue's hearts sank deeper with each passing moment.
Should we just give up like this?
Ning Yu was unwilling to give up. He tried to calm himself down and carefully observed the strange bird's every move. He discovered that although the strange bird was very alert, it seemed to be more interested in moving objects. Every time Mu Xue threw a stone, the strange bird would be attracted and try to chase after the rolling pebbles.
A bold idea surfaced in Ning Yu's mind. He leaned close to Mu Xue's ear and whispered, "...You..."
