"Captain Ning! Captain Ning! Sister Mu is back!" The person who came was Xiao Wu, who had been on lookout duty. He ran up to Ning Yu breathlessly and shouted excitedly.
Upon hearing the name "Mu Xue," Ning Yu's eyes snapped open, a glint of shrewdness flashing within them. He steadied himself, his voice tinged with an urgency he himself didn't realize, "What happened?"
Xiao Wu took a few breaths and replied, "During our patrol, we discovered a sizable group operating near our base. They seem to have ill intentions, so Sister Mu asked me to come back and inform you."
"What?!" Brother Wu exclaimed in surprise, "Can you confirm their origins?"
Xiao Wu shook his head, a hint of worry on his face. "They are well-equipped, well-trained, and disciplined. They don't seem like ordinary scavengers or small groups."
Ning Yu frowned, a sense of unease rising in his heart. He knew that in this resource-scarce and perilous post-apocalyptic world, the approach of any force could mean a potential threat, not to mention that this team's target seemed to be them.
He took a deep breath, suppressed his unease, and decisively said to Brother Wu, "Brother Wu, immediately organize manpower to strengthen the base's defenses and prepare for battle."
"Yes!" Brother Wu accepted the order without hesitation and left, knowing that the situation was urgent and could not be delayed.
Ning Yu turned to Dr. Zhao and said in a deep voice, "Dr. Zhao, the training is temporarily suspended. Please return to a safe place with everyone. I will handle things here."
Dr. Zhao opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but seeing Ning Yu's determined eyes, he finally nodded and led everyone away from the training ground.
"Captain Ning, aren't you coming with us?" Xiao Wu asked with some concern when he saw that Ning Yu didn't seem to be leaving.
Ning Yu patted him on the shoulder and said calmly, "I have to stay. There are some things I need to figure out."
Xiao Wu wanted to say something more, but Ning Yu stopped him with a look. He knew Ning Yu's personality well; once he made a decision, he wouldn't easily change it. So he could only sigh helplessly, turn around, and run towards the base.
After watching everyone leave, Ning Yu turned around and looked towards the base gate. His eyes were deep and resolute, as if they could pierce through layers of fog and see the approaching storm... Ning Yu stood alone on the training ground, watching the dust gradually approaching in the distance, the smoke and dust kicked up by the marching troops. He knew that he had to figure out the other side's intentions as soon as possible in order to formulate a countermeasure.
Taking a deep breath, Ning Yu closed his eyes, focusing all his attention on his internal body. He could feel the raging energy within him beginning to flow slowly under the guidance of that mysterious force, like a sleeping dragon awakening. This time, it felt smoother than ever before, as if that power was finally willing to obey his commands.
One minute, two minutes, five minutes... Time passed second by second, and the flow of supernatural energy within Ning Yu's body became more and more stable and stronger. He even felt that his perception of his surroundings had improved significantly; he could clearly hear footsteps coming from afar and could even sense faint energy fluctuations in the air.
"Eight minutes! Just a little longer!" Dr. Zhao, observing from the shadows, clenched his fists, silently cheering for Ning Yu. He knew that for Ning Yu, every minute of perseverance was a tremendous test of willpower.
However, just as the nine-minute mark was about to expire, Ning Yu's brows suddenly furrowed. He felt that the supernatural power within him was becoming restless again, like a wild horse that could break free of its reins at any moment.
"Damn it!" Ning Yu cursed under his breath, large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead. His body began to tremble slightly, a sign that his superpower was about to go out of control.
"Captain Ning..." Xiao Wu, who was observing from the shadows, couldn't help but exclaim, but Brother Wu covered his mouth from the side.
"Don't disturb him!" Brother Wu said in a low voice. He knew that Ning Yu was at a critical moment, and any external interference could have irreversible consequences.
Ning Yu felt his consciousness beginning to blur, but the obsession in his heart grew stronger and stronger. He remembered everything he had experienced since he transmigrated to this world, those who had mocked and slandered him, and even more so, the efforts and sweat he had put in to control his superpowers.
"I will never give up!" Ning Yu gritted his teeth and squeezed out these words. He endured the excruciating pain in his body, concentrating all his willpower and desperately trying to control the violent energy within him.
"Nine and a half minutes... nine minutes and forty seconds... nine minutes and fifty seconds..." Dr. Zhao silently counted the time in his mind, each second feeling like an eternity to him.
Finally, when the tenth minute arrived, Ning Yu's body suddenly stopped trembling. He opened his eyes abruptly, and a sharp glint flashed in them.
“It’s done…” He took a deep breath, slowly stood up, looked towards the base gate, and a cold smile appeared on his lips. “I’d like to see who dares to cause trouble!”
Time seemed to stand still; every second felt like an eternity to Ning Yu. He felt as if magma was flowing through his veins, scorching every nerve. His clothes were soaked with sweat, clinging tightly to his body, but he was oblivious, staring intently ahead, his gaze sharp as a hawk's, unwavering.
Nine minutes, fifty seconds... fifty-nine seconds...
"Hold on! Just a little bit more!" Dr. Zhao shouted in his heart, his palms sweating profusely. He didn't even realize that he was so nervous that he could hardly breathe.
