Ning Yu had an idea, and a resolute glint flashed in his eyes. He took a deep breath, and the instant the giant roared and raised his fist again, he moved as nimbly as a cheetah towards the giant's feet.
"Ning Yu!" Mu Xue was shocked by Ning Yu's actions and almost instinctively cried out. She couldn't understand why Ning Yu would run to the giant's feet; it was practically suicide! Could it be... that he had already given up?
However, Mu Xue quickly realized that Ning Yu wasn't giving up, but gambling! A life-or-death gamble! She saw Ning Yu's target, the loose stone at the giant's feet. She immediately understood Ning Yu's intention, her heart clenching with a mixture of worry and admiration.
Time was of the essence, and she had to do something! Mu Xue forced herself to calm down, quickly scanned her surroundings, picked up a few sharp pebbles, and threw them forcefully at the giant's eyes.
"Roar!" The giant roared, clearly struck in the eye by a rock. Although it didn't cause any real damage, it successfully distracted it. Its massive head swayed slightly, trying to shake off the foreign object in its eye, buying Ning Yu precious time.
Ning Yu had already reached the giant's feet. He knelt on one knee and gripped the loose stone tightly with both hands. The stone was larger and heavier than he had imagined, but without hesitation, he used all his strength to pry it upwards.
"Drink!" Ning Yu gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his forehead, every muscle in his body tense. The stone creaked and groaned as it was pried open little by little.
The giant's attention was drawn to Mu Xue, and coupled with the unusual movement beneath its feet, it finally noticed Ning Yu at its feet. It roared angrily, and its massive foot stomped down on Ning Yu without hesitation.
"Ning Yu—!" Mu Xue screamed in anguish, watching helplessly as the giant's foot descended.
At this critical moment, Ning Yu finally managed to pry up the huge rock! Beneath the rock was a deep pit, and the giant's foot sank into it, causing its massive body to shake violently.
"Now!" Ning Yu was overjoyed. He knew his chance had come!
However, the giant reacted faster than he had anticipated. It only swayed briefly before quickly regaining its balance, its other foot rising abruptly with a whistling sound as it stomped towards Ning Yu…
"Damn it..." Ning Yu cursed under his breath.
Knowing he couldn't dodge the fatal blow, Ning Yu gritted his teeth and rolled to the side with all his might. The giant's foot slammed heavily into the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust and causing the ground to tremble. Although Ning Yu dodged the fatal blow, he was swept away by the giant's other foot and sent flying like a kite with a broken string, crashing heavily to the ground. A sharp pain shot through him; Ning Yu felt as if all the bones in his body had shattered.
"Ning Yu!" Upon seeing this, Mu Xue rushed over without hesitation and helped Ning Yu up. "How are you?" she asked anxiously, her voice trembling slightly.
Ning Yu struggled to sit up, wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, and shook his head: "I'm fine." He endured the pain and quickly checked his body, finding that apart from a few scrapes and sprains, he had no serious injuries. Although the fall was quite hard, fortunately the giant's attack wasn't aimed at him, so the force was somewhat weakened; otherwise, the consequences would have been unimaginable.
Mu Xue helped Ning Yu up, and the two of them stood up with each other's support. The battle had just left them with new wounds, their clothes tattered, and they looked utterly disheveled. Mu Xue's face was also covered in dust and blood, but her eyes shone with a resolute light, showing no sign of backing down.
"We must get out of here as soon as possible," Ning Yu said, panting heavily. He looked up at the still swaying giant, a deep sense of powerlessness rising in his heart. In their current state, there was no way they could defeat this behemoth.
"But where can we go?" Mu Xue looked around, and the desolate scene filled her with despair. They were trapped in this ruin, surrounded by broken walls and rubble, with no way to escape.
The giant steadied itself again and strode heavily toward them. With each step, the ground rumbled deafeningly, as if the whole world trembled. The shadow of death once more loomed over the two men.
At this critical moment, Ning Yu suddenly remembered the strange symbols he had seen on the stone gate earlier. The symbols resembled some kind of ancient script, or perhaps some kind of totem. He hadn't paid much attention to them at the time, but now, he suddenly felt that those symbols might be related to the giant.
"Wait!" Ning Yu grabbed Mu Xue's arm, a glint of light flashing in his eyes. "I think I know what to do."
He briefly shared his thoughts with Mu Xue, and the two immediately began searching their surroundings for anything resembling the symbol. Time was of the essence; the giant's footsteps were drawing ever closer. They had to find the answer quickly, or they would truly have no chance…
"Look!" Ning Yu pointed to a collapsed stone tablet not far away, with some blurry symbols carved on it, "The same as the ones on the stone gate!"
Mu Xue also saw the symbols, and a glimmer of hope flashed in her eyes. "Perhaps, this is the key to our survival..." Before she could finish speaking, the giant had already closed in on them, its enormous shadow enveloping them. Ning Yu pulled Mu Xue behind him, his gaze fixed on the giant, muttering incantations...
The giant's shadow loomed over Ning Yu and Mu Xue, its massive arms flailing clumsily, each attack carrying an overwhelming force. Debris flew, dust billowed, and the two dodged and weaved through the ruins like leaves swaying in a storm.
