Chapter 266 A Strange Wind Rises, Suspicion Looms

In the darkness, fear surged like a tide, enveloping the two of them.

Ning Yu wanted to light a lamp, but after searching for a long time, he couldn't find it.

He then realized that the lighting equipment had been damaged at some point, perhaps during the impact.

They were plunged into absolute darkness, and the source of the mysterious wind seemed to be still very far away...

A sense of despair began to spread, and Ning Yu felt an unprecedented powerlessness. Were they going to be trapped here and die?

“Ning Yu…” Mu Xue’s voice trembled, tinged with a sob, “I…I’m so scared…”

Ning Yu held Mu Xue's hand tightly, trying to comfort her and give himself some strength.

“Don’t be afraid, I’m here…” Even so, he himself was not sure.

Just then, Mu Xue suddenly exclaimed, "Wait! My superpower... seems to still be usable a little!"

Ning Yu was taken aback. "What?"

"My special ability is manipulating water. Although it's suppressed quite a bit right now, I can still seem to sense a trace of water vapor..." Mu Xue's voice held a hint of surprise. "I'll give it a try!"

She focused her mind and tried her best to mobilize the remaining supernatural power within her body.

A faint blue light emerged from her fingertips, flickering like a firefly. Though faint, it illuminated a small area around her.

The blue light dispelled some of the darkness and some of the fear.

Ning Yu saw that the surroundings were not completely empty, but rather filled with a grayish-white mist. It was this mist that swallowed the light, plunging them into darkness.

More importantly, Mu Xue's special ability seems to have some resistance to this suppression.

As the blue light appeared, Ning Yu felt the heavy pressure on his body lessen. He tried to activate his supernatural power, and sure enough, a faint current pulsed at his fingertips.

"Great!" A glimmer of hope ignited in Ning Yu's heart. "Let's try to break out together!"

Mu Xue nodded, and the two supported each other, struggling to move towards the source of the wind by the faint blue light.

The grayish-white fog still hindered their movement, but it was no longer as insurmountable as before.

As he walked, Ning Yu suddenly stopped, feeling the ground trembling slightly.

Mu Xue also noticed something was wrong. The two looked at each other and saw fear in each other's eyes.

"What's that sound..." Mu Xue gripped Ning Yu's arm tightly, her voice barely audible.

A deafening roar came from ahead, like a colossal beast from ancient times, carrying a chilling pressure that echoed in the darkness... Ning Yu gripped the stone shard in his hand, his expression solemn.

"Prepare for battle..."

The faint blue light emanating from Mu Xue's fingertips, like a flickering candle in the wind, illuminated the tense faces of the two.

The roar came again, closer now, and the ground trembled even more violently.

Ning Yu gripped the stone shard tightly in his hand. He could feel Mu Xue's hand trembling, but he didn't say anything. He just gripped it even tighter, giving her silent encouragement.

The grayish-white mist began to swirl, like boiling water, and a foul, nauseating stench wafted over.

Ning Yu held his breath. By the dim light, he could vaguely see a huge black shadow moving in front of him. The outline of the shadow appeared and disappeared in the mist, and he could not see it clearly.

"Watch out!" Ning Yu shouted in a low voice, shielding Mu Xue behind him.

The shadowy figure drew closer, accompanied by heavy footsteps and a teeth-grinding scraping sound.

Finally, in the brief moment when the fog dissipated, they were able to see the monster's appearance clearly.

It was a huge mutated creature, like a giant lizard, covered in thick scales, with sharp bone spurs growing on its back, and its scarlet eyes gleaming fiercely in the darkness.

The saliva dripping from its mouth made a hissing, corrosive sound, leaving charred marks on the ground.

Mu Xue gasped, her fear making it almost impossible for her to breathe.

This monster was larger than any mutated creature they had encountered before, and the oppressive aura it exuded was far more terrifying.

“Its target… doesn’t seem to be us.” Ning Yu narrowed his eyes, observing the monster’s movements.

He noticed that the monster's gaze wasn't on them, but rather fixed on a certain direction behind them.

"Could it be..." A thought flashed through Ning Yu's mind. He turned around abruptly, but saw nothing but swirling gray-white mist.

Just then, the monster let out a deafening roar and charged toward the direction behind them. Its massive body smashed through the surrounding mist, creating a thunderous roar, and the ground shook violently.

Ning Yu and Mu Xue were stunned by this sudden turn of events. "It...it's gone?" Mu Xue's voice was filled with disbelief.

Ning Yu did not answer; he had a vague feeling that things were not so simple.

What exactly is the monster's target?

What is the connection between this eerie wind, the roaring monster, and the swirling fog?

Suddenly, Ning Yu felt a strong sense of crisis. He grabbed Mu Xue's hand and shouted, "Let's go!"

Almost simultaneously, a piercing scream came from the mist behind them, followed by a massive black shadow bursting out of the mist at astonishing speed, heading straight for them...

"Damn it..." Ning Yu cursed under his breath, and the stone in his hand crackled with electricity.
