Chapter 270 Shadow Assault, Panic and Desperate Struggle

"What..." Ning Yu's voice stopped abruptly. He turned around abruptly, only to see a black shadow flash by and disappear into the thick poisonous fog.

The simple torch in his hand flickered, reflecting the bewildered look on his face.

Mu Xue also sensed the danger. She instinctively gripped the dagger in her hand and clung tightly to Ning Yu's side.

"What's wrong?" she asked in a low voice, her voice trembling slightly.

Ning Yu did not answer. He was focused on sensing everything around him. Although his superpower was suppressed by the poisonous fog, a sense of crisis surged up like a tide, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.

He unconsciously gripped the torch tightly in his hand, his knuckles turning white.

Silence, a suffocating silence. Only the crackling of the burning torches and the rapid breathing of the two men echoed in the poisonous fog.

Immediately afterward, the dark figure reappeared. This time, without the slightest hesitation, it pounced towards Mu Xue like an arrow released from a bow!

"Watch out!" Ning Yu shouted. Almost instinctively, he pushed Mu Xue aside and used his body to shield her.

Everything happened so fast that Mu Xue didn't even have time to react before she felt a tremendous force push her to the ground.

She looked up in horror, but only saw Ning Yu's back and the shadowy figure that seemed like a ghost.

The shadowy figure moved with astonishing speed, bypassing Ning Yu and lunging at Mu Xue again. Ning Yu reacted swiftly, grabbing the shadowy figure's claws.

"Ning Yu!" Mu Xue exclaimed, struggling to stand up.

Ning Yu didn't speak. He gritted his teeth and gripped the shadowy claws tightly, preventing them from getting any closer to Mu Xue.

The poisonous fog left him weak all over, but he still fought with all his might, using up his last bit of strength.

“Go…” he squeezed out the word through gritted teeth.

Mu Xue was stunned. She didn't understand why Ning Yu wanted her to leave, but she could sense that Ning Yu was in a very dangerous situation.

She wanted to say something, but couldn't say anything at all.

"Go!" Ning Yu roared again, his voice filled with despair.

Mu Xue gritted her teeth; she knew now was not the time to hesitate.

She got up, glanced at Ning Yu, then turned and ran into the depths of the poisonous fog... Her figure quickly disappeared into the thick fog.

Ning Yu watched Mu Xue leave, a complex expression flashing in his eyes. He released his grip on the dark figure…

The shadowy figure's claws slashed several deep wounds on Ning Yu's back, and a searing pain instantly spread throughout his body.

Hot, pungent liquid flowed down the wound, soaking his clothes.

Ning Yu groaned, enduring the pain, and tried to use his supernatural abilities to attack the shadowy figure.

However, the suppression of the poisonous fog made his supernatural power flow like a trickle, making it difficult to condense into an effective attack.

Worse still, the shadowy figure was incredibly fast, like a black lightning bolt, appearing and disappearing in the thick fog, making it impossible for his special ability to lock onto the target.

Mu Xue hadn't run far when she was startled to stop by the sounds of fighting coming from the thick fog.

She was extremely anxious, but dared not go back rashly. With her strength, going back would only make her a burden to Ning Yu.

After hesitating for a moment, she drew another dagger from her waist, held it in her hand, and carefully groped her way back in the direction from which the sound came.

The thick fog obscured her vision, and she could only rely on the faint light and sound to determine her direction.

"Ning Yu!" she called from afar, her voice sounding particularly weak in the thick fog.

She brandished the dagger in her hand, trying to scare away the shadowy figure, but it was all in vain.

The shadowy figure seemed to disdain the weapon in her hand. It circled behind Mu Xue and knocked the dagger from her hand to the ground with a single claw.

The crisp metallic clanging sound was particularly jarring in the silent, thick fog.

Mu Xue turned pale with fright and stood there helplessly, at a loss for what to do.

The shadowy figure let out a low growl, seemingly mocking her helplessness.

It slowly approached Mu Xue, its sharp claws gleaming coldly in the firelight, as if it would tear her to shreds at any moment.

Mu Xue closed her eyes in despair, awaiting death.

At this critical moment, a furious roar came from the thick fog: "Get out of the way!"

Seeing that Mu Xue was in danger, Ning Yu mustered his strength, ignoring his own injuries, and focused on observing the shadowy figure's movements... He discovered that the shadowy figure would pause for a moment before each attack.

“Now…” Ning Yu murmured to himself.

Seeing that Mu Xue was in danger, Ning Yu mustered his strength, ignoring his own injuries, and focused on observing the shadowy figure's movements.

He noticed that the shadowy figure would pause for a moment before each attack, as if it were gathering strength or searching for the best angle to strike.

This slight pause, which may seem insignificant to ordinary people, was a glimmer of hope for Ning Yu.

"Mu Xue!" Ning Yu shouted, his voice hoarse but firm, "It pauses before each attack! Let's attack together!"

Upon hearing this, a glimmer of hope ignited in Mu Xue's heart.

Although she was afraid, she was not without combat experience.

She quickly understood Ning Yu's meaning, stared intently at the dark figure, held her breath, and waited for her opportunity.

The shadowy figure closed in again, its claws raised high, gleaming with a chilling light. It paused, for a mere instant, but that was enough.

"Now!" Ning Yu roared, straining to mobilize the meager supernatural power within his body.

The oppressive effect of the poisonous fog was still present, but he couldn't care less about that now.

A pale blue light shot out from his hand, faint yet striking the shadowy figure with precision.
