The pendant's energy flickered like a candle in the wind, but the barrier's suction force remained undiminished, greedily devouring Ning Yu.
Most of his body was submerged inside, with only his head remaining outside. His eyes were closed, and his face was as pale as paper.
He called out weakly, "Mu... Xue..." His voice was so faint it was almost inaudible.
Fine beads of sweat appeared on Mu Xue's forehead, and her tears had long since dried, leaving faint salt stains.
She gripped the pendant tightly, her knuckles turning white, as if she wanted to crush it.
The pendant's energy was rapidly dissipating, and Ning Yu's condition was becoming increasingly critical.
Despair surged into her heart like a tidal wave, almost drowning her.
Just then, Mu Xue felt a surge of power within her body, like a sleeping dragon about to awaken.
This power is warm and strong, quite different from the cold energy of the pendant.
“This…this is…” A glimmer of hope rose in Mu Xue’s heart. Could it be that she also had superpowers?
She never imagined she would possess such power; all along, she had just been an ordinary person by Ning Yu's side.
"Ning Yu! Hold on!" Mu Xue gritted her teeth and focused all her energy on activating this power.
A sharp pain spread throughout my body, as if every bone was on fire.
But she dared not stop; Ning Yu's life was hanging by a thread, and she had to seize this last glimmer of hope.
Ning Yu's calls grew weaker and weaker, his consciousness began to blur, and all he could see was darkness.
He felt as if he were being pulled by an invisible force, as if his body was being torn apart.
He knew he was about to give up, but he still held Mu Xue's hand tightly, as if it were his only support.
Mu Xue's face turned extremely pale, and sweat poured down like rain, soaking her clothes.
She felt her body was about to reach its limit, but she persisted, constantly channeling her willpower into that surging power.
“Ning Yu…I won’t…let you…alone…” Mu Xue’s voice trembled, and it was almost impossible to hear what she was saying.
Suddenly, a glint flashed in Mu Xue's eyes; she sensed that power was finally about to erupt.
She suddenly opened her eyes, staring intently at the point where Ning Yu was connected to the barrier, and murmured, "Right... now..." A dazzling white light burst forth from Mu Xue's hand, like a sharp sword, piercing straight at the point where Ning Yu was connected to the barrier.
The light collided with the gray-black barrier, producing a piercing sizzling sound, like fire scorching ice and snow.
The barrier's suction force paused briefly under the impact of the white light, and Ning Yu's falling body also suddenly stopped, hanging in mid-air.
"Mu Xue!" Ning Yu suddenly opened his eyes, a hint of surprise flashing in them. He felt the pulling force on his body weaken, as if a drowning person had grabbed a lifeline.
He endured the excruciating pain and mobilized the last of his supernatural abilities to form a thin protective shield, which, together with Mu Xue's white light, resisted the barrier's engulfment.
However, the barrier seemed to have gained its own consciousness. After sensing this force of resistance, it fluctuated violently, and the gray-black mist churned and surged, emitting a low rumble, like a roar from hell.
The suction suddenly intensified, and Ning Yu's body slid downwards again. Mu Xue's white light also began to flicker, as if it might go out at any moment.
"Hold on, Ning Yu!" Mu Xue's face grew even paler, and large beads of sweat rolled down her forehead, but she still gritted her teeth and poured all her willpower into the white light in her hand.
She could feel her body moving uncontrollably toward the barrier, a powerful suction force holding her firmly in place.
Ning Yu also sensed Mu Xue's unusual behavior and anxiously shouted, "Mu Xue, let go! You'll be sucked in like this!"
"No... I won't... let go..." Mu Xue's voice trembled, but it was unusually firm.
She understood that if she were also sucked into the barrier, both of them would be doomed, but she would never give up. Even if there was only a sliver of hope, she would do everything in her power to rescue Ning Yu.
Suddenly, the white light flashed violently, and Mu Xue's body began to tremble violently. She felt her strength rapidly draining away, and the scenery in front of her began to blur.
She bit her lip until it bled, using the pain to stay awake and try to control her powers that were about to spiral out of control.
"Mu Xue!" Ning Yu watched helplessly as Mu Xue's body drew closer and closer to the barrier. His heart felt as if it were being gripped tightly by an invisible hand, making it almost impossible for him to breathe.
He tried to reach out and grab her, but found his body firmly trapped in the suction of the barrier, unable to move.
Mu Xue reached out, trying to grab Ning Yu, but found the distance growing ever wider… With her last ounce of strength, she called out, “Ning…”
"Ning..." Mu Xue's voice was as thin as a whisper. Before she could finish uttering the last word, her body moved uncontrollably toward Ning Yu, spinning around like a leaf caught in a whirlpool.
She knew that if they were sucked into the barrier, they might both die.
But she did not back down. The fear of death instead stirred up a stronger force deep within her. She gritted her teeth, her eyes shining with unwavering determination.
Her special ability, that dazzling white light, began to flicker and become unstable, sometimes bright and sometimes dim, like a candle flame swaying in the wind.
Ning Yu watched helplessly as Mu Xue drew closer and closer, her heart breaking.
He tried to push Mu Xue away, but he was firmly attached to her and couldn't exert any strength at all.
Despair washed over them like a tidal wave. Were they really going to perish together here?
