Chapter 34 A New Mission Begins, A New Journey Begins

"Damn it!" Ning Yu cursed under his breath, rubbing his injured area. A sharp rock had torn his trouser leg, and blood instantly stained his clothes, mixing with the rainwater in a gruesome sight. He endured the pain, rummaged through his backpack for a first-aid kit, and quickly treated the wound.

The wind howled, and the torrential rain lashed relentlessly at him, as if mocking his disheveled state. Ning Yu gritted his teeth and, with all his might, slowly stood up. With each step, a tearing pain shot through the wound on his left leg, but he didn't stop. He knew he had to reach his destination as quickly as possible.

As he ventured deeper, the surrounding energy interference intensified, and his senses became increasingly blurred. What he could barely discern before was now a chaotic mess. He was like a lone boat adrift in a raging storm, completely lost.

Worse still, his powers began to show signs of spiraling out of control. The energy that he once had complete control over was now like a wild horse, rampaging through his body and causing him unbearable pain.

"Ugh..." Ning Yu groaned in pain, large beads of sweat rolling down his forehead, mingling with the rain. He had to stop, sit cross-legged, and try to control the raging energy within him.

However, this energy seemed to be deliberately opposing him, resisting even more fiercely the more he suppressed it. Ning Yu felt his consciousness gradually fading, and his body began to tremble uncontrollably.

"No... I can't fall here..." Ning Yu gritted his teeth, desperately resisting the violent power within his body. He knew that once he gave up resisting, he would be completely devoured by this power.

Just when he was about to give up, Dr. Zhao's words to him before he left suddenly flashed into his mind: "Ning Yu, I believe in you, you are our last hope..."

"Hope..." Ning Yu murmured to himself, his eyes gradually hardening. He took a deep breath, summoning the last bit of strength within him, and launched a final assault on the raging energy...

After an unknown amount of time, Ning Yu suddenly opened his eyes and found himself lying in a cave. Outside, the wind was still howling and the rain was pouring down, but his clothes were already dry. He tried to move his body and found that apart from some soreness, he was fine.

"Where am I?" Ning Yu looked around in confusion.

"You're awake?" an aged voice came from the cave entrance. "It seems you've defeated it."

Ning Yu turned his head and saw an old man dressed in black robes standing at the cave entrance, staring at him with deep eyes...

"Who are you?" Ning Yu asked warily, while secretly mobilizing the energy within his body, preparing for battle at any moment.

"Hehe, you don't need to be nervous, young man." The old man smiled slightly, his face deeply lined, yet kind and gentle. "My name is Wu Yan, you can call me Brother Wu. I'm an old acquaintance of your Dr. Zhao."

Upon hearing the name "Dr. Zhao," Ning Yu's guard relaxed slightly, but she remained cautious. "How did you end up here?"

Wu Yan slowly walked into the cave, found a rock to sit on, sighed and said, "It's a long story. I also came here for this mysterious power, but unfortunately..." He shook his head and did not continue.

Ning Yu didn't press further; he knew everyone had their own story. He stood up, stretched, and bowed slightly to Wu Yan, saying, "Thank you for saving me, senior. I have important matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave now."

"You're going to find the source of that power, right?" Wu Yan looked up at Ning Yu. "I can tell you that you're very close now, but the road ahead is even more dangerous. You... must be extremely careful."

Ning Yu remained silent for a moment. He knew Wu Yan wasn't exaggerating; he had encountered enough dangers along the way, but his sense of mission and responsibility prevented him from stopping. "Thank you for the reminder, senior. I will be careful." With that, he turned and walked out of the cave.

“Remember, don’t be fooled by what you see before you…” Wu Yan’s voice came from behind, his tone full of worry.

Ning Yu didn't turn around, but simply nodded slightly, and stepped back into the raging storm.

The severe weather lasted for a full day and night before gradually subsiding. As the first rays of sunlight pierced through the clouds and shone upon the earth, Ning Yu finally emerged from the area of energy interference.

He stood on a hillside, gazing into the distance. What had once been a barren landscape was now bursting with life. Lush trees, colorful flowers, and crystal-clear streams created a beautiful scene.

"Is this... the effect of the power source?" Ning Yu murmured to himself, his eyes filled with surprise and curiosity.

However, a sense of unease lingered in his heart; he felt that something was amiss. He walked forward cautiously, taking each step with extreme care.

Suddenly, his footing gave way, and he plummeted to the ground...

"Damn it!" Ning Yu cursed under his breath, quickly mobilizing his energy to stabilize himself. However, the downward trend did not stop. Looking down, he realized that he had fallen into a huge pit, the bottom of which was covered with sharp spikes that gleamed coldly in the sunlight.

"This..." Ning Yu broke out in a cold sweat. He realized that he seemed to have fallen into a carefully designed trap... Wu Yan's words echoed in his ears: "Remember, don't be fooled by what you see..."
