Chapter 42 Glory Shines Brightly, Intimidating All Heroes

Under the scorching sun, amidst the endless yellow sand, the makeshift camp erected by the survivors on this desolate land became a center of hope. As Ning Yu's figure appeared on the horizon, the guards in the watchtower excitedly sounded their horns.

"He's back! He's back!" someone shouted, and the camp gates burst open. People surged out like a tide, their faces filled with anticipation and curiosity. They were eager to know if Ning Yu had brought back that crucial item.

Ning Yu didn't rush to explain. He walked straight to the center of the camp, his tall figure resembling a drawn sword in the wind and sand. He slowly raised his right hand, and in his palm, a golden light surged and rippled like an awakened dragon, instantly illuminating half the sky.

"My God! What is this?!" A gasp erupted from the crowd. This powerful and mysterious force shocked everyone, filling them with a mixture of awe and fear.

"Is this... the power he gained?" someone murmured to themselves, their eyes filled with disbelief. In the past, Ning Yu had also displayed extraordinary abilities, but none were nearly as powerful as he was now, as if a god had descended.

However, not everyone's face was filled with joy. In a corner of the crowd, several figures exchanged glances imperceptibly, flames of jealousy burning in their eyes.

"Hmph, who knows how he obtained this power, maybe..." one of them lowered his voice, his tone sour, but he didn't continue, though the malice in his eyes was undisguised.

Ning Yu keenly sensed these negative emotions, but he merely smiled faintly and ignored them. He clenched his fist, golden light spreading along his arm and converging on it. He casually walked to a boulder the size of a millstone, and to everyone's astonishment, easily lifted it above his head, and then…

Ning Yu noticed these negative emotions, but he ignored them, a slight, disdainful smile playing on his lips. He knew that true powerhouses didn't need to heed the doubts of ants; strength was the best proof. He took a deep breath, golden light swirling around him, as if resonating with some power in the world.

His clenched fist slowly loosened, and golden light coiled around the boulder like a serpent. The next second, to everyone's astonishment, the incredibly hard boulder was crushed into powder like a block of tofu!

"Boom!" Fine stone dust, like a small sandstorm, instantly enveloped Ning Yu. When the dust settled, people could see that where the boulder had been, only a pile of irregularly shaped rubble remained, and Ning Yu was still standing unharmed, as if the earth-shattering scene had nothing to do with him.

A thunderous cheer erupted from the crowd, the eyes of the younger generation filled with fervor. They had never witnessed such power, as if a god or demon from mythology had descended!

"Lord Ning Yu, please accept me as your disciple!" A thin young man rushed out first, knelt down in front of Ning Yu, his eyes filled with longing.

"Lord Ning Yu, I also want to become a powerful superhuman like you!"

"Me too! I want to become an apprentice too!"

More and more young people gathered around Ning Yu, their eager eyes shining like stars in the night sky, illuminating this barren land.

However, the faces of those in the crowd who harbored envy grew increasingly grim. They couldn't accept that ordinary people, once just like them, now possessed such immense power, while they could only look up in awe.

"Hmph, he just got lucky, what's there to be proud of?" A burly man with a face full of scars cursed in a low voice, but dared not speak loudly, for fear that Ning Yu would hear him.

“Exactly, who knows how he got this power? Maybe he sold his soul and made a deal with some evil being!” another man with a pointed face chimed in, his tone full of sour jealousy.

"He wasn't like this before. Ever since he gained power, he's become arrogant and conceited, and he loves to show off in front of others. It's disgusting!"

These malicious comments, like the forked tongue of a venomous snake, silently spread through the crowd. However, they were unaware that Ning Yu had already heard everything they said.

He slowly turned around, his sharp gaze sweeping across the crowd like a hawk's, finally settling on the few people spreading rumors.

"I'll give you a chance," Ning Yu's voice was deep and powerful, yet carried a chilling pressure. "Say what you just said in front of everyone. If you can last three minutes against me..."

His voice trailed off abruptly, yet it carried more weight than any threat. Ning Yu's words were like a thunderclap, exploding through the crowd. The faces of those spreading the rumors turned deathly pale; they hadn't expected Ning Yu to have overheard their whispers so clearly.

All eyes were fixed on them, filled with scrutiny, disdain, and a touch of expectation. These negative emotions acted like invisible shackles, firmly nailing them to the pillar of shame.

"What, you're too scared?" Ning Yu's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Where did your courage go?"

The burly man with a face full of scars felt the gazes directed at him, his face turning pale and then red. He stubbornly said, "Who, who said we wouldn't dare! But what you're doing is really disrespecting us!"

“That’s right, there are so many of us, yet you’re going to fight against so many of us alone. It’s not a fair fight!” the man with the pointed mouth and monkey-like face said, trying to save face for himself.

"Alright, I'll give you a chance. Come at me all at once." Ning Yu took a step forward, and his aura suddenly changed, as if a sleeping lion had finally awakened.
