Chapter 49: Facing imminent danger, turning the tide.

The thought, once it surfaced, spread like wildfire, unsettling him. If there truly was a traitor, then the enemy he faced would not only be these mutated creatures before him, but also the possibility of an internal assassination attempt.

"Roar!" A gigantic mutated bear roared, swinging its massive paws and slamming towards Ning Yu with overwhelming force. Ning Yu dared not take the blow head-on and could only dodge awkwardly. However, as soon as he landed, he felt a sharp gust of wind coming from his side. A mutated cheetah had somehow circled behind him, its sharp claws tearing through the air as it clawed at his throat.

At the critical moment, Ning Yu spun around swiftly, narrowly avoiding the fatal blow. However, the mutated cheetah was simply too fast; although he avoided a vital area, his arm was still slashed with a deep, bone-revealing wound.

"Damn it!" Ning Yu groaned, enduring the excruciating pain, and once again conjured wind blades in his hand, forcing the mutated cheetah back. However, before he could catch his breath, even more mutated creatures surrounded him.

A resolute glint flashed in Ning Yu's eyes; he knew he couldn't delay any longer. He had to get back as soon as possible and find out what had happened.

"Get out of my way, all of you!" Ning Yu roared, unleashing his supernatural power to its fullest extent. A violent wave of energy emanated from him and swept outwards. Caught off guard, the mutated creatures were all knocked to the ground.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Ning Yu broke through the encirclement and ran wildly towards his own camp. However, he knew that this was only a temporary respite, and a greater crisis awaited him.

Ahead, the flickering lights of the camp were faintly visible, but Ning Yu's heart grew heavier. He sensed an unusual aura in the air—the stench of blood! He quickened his pace, his eyes resolute. He knew he had to get there before it was too late…

The wind howled in his ears as Ning Yu pushed his speed to the limit, leaving behind a trail of mutated creatures in his wake. The anxiety in his eyes intensified, and the stench of blood intensified, stimulating his senses. He knew that every step he took later meant greater danger for his companions in the camp.

A loud explosion came from ahead. Ning Yu looked up sharply and saw that a large part of the defensive fortifications around the camp had been destroyed, and raging flames shot into the sky, turning the night sky a bright red.

"Damn it!" Ning Yu's heart sank. He knew that his worst fears had come true. The enemy was clearly well-prepared and coming with great force.

"We can't wait any longer!" Ning Yu gritted his teeth, mobilized all the remaining supernatural power in his body, transformed into a whirlwind, and howled towards the camp.

Along the way, he encountered even more mutated creatures that seemed endless, one wave after another. But Ning Yu couldn't care less about that now; his eyes were fixed on the blazing camp, and he had only one thought in his mind: to get back as quickly as possible!

He moved like lightning, weaving through a hail of bullets and the claws of monsters, each strike swift and decisive. Blood splattered, staining his clothes, but he seemed oblivious, like an unstoppable god of death!

Finally, he broke through the last line of defense and arrived at the camp gate.

However, what he saw made his pupils suddenly contract.

The camp gates were wide open, and flames roared into the sky from within, accompanied by deafening shouts of battle. Countless dark figures moved about in the firelight, and the sounds of fighting, screams, and roars mingled together, creating a scene of hell on earth.

"Brother Ning! You're finally back!"

A young man covered in blood saw Ning Yu and immediately shouted excitedly as if he had seen a savior.

However, before he could reach Ning Yu, a dark shadow flashed past, and a sharp dagger pierced his chest.

"Xiao Wu!" Ning Yu roared, his eyes bloodshot. He flashed and instantly appeared behind the dark figure, his five fingers like hooks, grabbing the other's neck.

“You are…” Ning Yu’s eyes flashed with murderous intent, but when he saw the other person’s appearance, he was suddenly stunned.

"Hehe, long time no see, Ning Yu." The man's lips curled into a sinister smile as he spoke slowly.
