The worry in Mu Xue's eyes vanished in an instant, replaced by her usual calm. She quickly pulled a map from her backpack and spread it out in front of Ning Yu. Most areas on the map were still blank, with only the area where they were stationed marked.
“I want to go there and take a look,” Ning Yu said, pointing to a blank valley on the map. The terrain there was complex and the vegetation was lush, making it an ideal place to explore the unknown.
"Your body..." Mu Xue looked worried. She knew that Ning Yu's body had not yet recovered, and going on an adventure at this time would undoubtedly be a risky move.
"I'm fine." Ning Yu shook his head, his eyes firm. "Trust me, I have a feeling that the answers we need will be there."
The team set off, heading towards the unknown valley. Along the way, Ning Yu remained silent, his eyes sharp, carefully observing the surroundings, not missing a single clue. Finally, after crossing a steep ridge, a secluded valley appeared before them. A thin layer of mist permeated the valley, adding to its mystique.
Ning Yu walked into the valley and stopped in front of a rock wall. He reached out and touched a peculiar mineral on the wall; it was dark red and its surface shimmered with an unusual luster. A strange sense of familiarity welled up inside him, and he was certain that this mineral was anything but ordinary.
Back at camp, Ning Yu gathered his team and showed them the dark red ore. "I suspect this ore is the key to solving our current predicament!"
The team members looked at each other, puzzled. How could an ordinary stone become the key? Some began to whisper among themselves, wondering if Ning Yu was being deliberately mysterious, and some even thought it was just a lie Ning Yu made up to cover up his wrong decision.
"Captain, are you sure?" a burly team member stepped forward and asked, his tone tinged with doubt. "We've already wasted too much time in this godforsaken place. We can't keep searching aimlessly like this!"
Ning Yu ignored his doubts and turned his gaze to the others, "I need you to believe me, we need to find more of this ore!"
The group set off again, but this time, the atmosphere was tense. Seeds of suspicion had been sown and were quietly taking root. As the group ventured deeper into the valley, a member at the rear of the procession suddenly disappeared… Chaos erupted within the group; some panicked, some looked around frantically, while others, without prior agreement, turned their gazes to Ning Yu…
"Where's Li San? Has anyone seen Li San?!" someone in the group shouted, a hint of panic in their voice. The group, already filled with suspicion because of the strange ore, suddenly erupted into a frenzy, as if a stone had been thrown in.
"Damn it, I told you this place is super weird, but the captain insisted on coming!" The burly team member who had questioned Ning Yu shouted in a rough voice, his thick fingers almost poking Ning Yu's nose. "Now look what happened!"
"Shut up, Wang Qiang!" Mu Xue shouted sharply, her cold eyes sweeping over the crowd. "Now is not the time for infighting. The most urgent task is to find Li San!"
Ning Yu suppressed his anger, knowing that the team needed calm, not finger-pointing. He took a deep breath, suppressing his unease, and said in a low voice, "Everyone, don't panic. Let's split up and search. Be careful!"
Having said that, ignoring the reactions of others, Ning Yu ran straight towards the direction where Li San had disappeared. He pushed aside the dense bushes, carefully searching every corner, his heart filled with anxiety. He knew that in this perilous valley, every second was crucial to Li San's life.
A deafening roar suddenly came from ahead, startling Ning Yu. A strong sense of crisis instantly enveloped him. He gripped his weapon tightly, tiptoed, and cautiously made his way towards the direction of the sound.
Pushing aside the last layer of bushes, the sight before Ning Yu made his heart sink instantly. A massive mutated bear was waving its sharp claws, roaring at Li San, who lay sprawled on the ground. Li San was curled up on the ground, covered in blood, clearly severely injured, but he still clutched his weapon tightly, his eyes filled with fear and despair.
"Li San!" Ning Yu shouted, trying to attract the mutated bear's attention. However, his appearance only further enraged the bear. It abruptly turned its head, its scarlet eyes fixed on Ning Yu, and let out a deafening roar before lunging at him...
"Go! Captain, don't worry about me!" Li San shouted hoarsely, his eyes filled with despair.
Ning Yu didn't move. He knew he had no way out. He gripped his weapon tightly, his eyes sharpening like never before… Just then, a sharp pain shot through his chest. The throbbing pain of his old wound made his vision blur, and he almost lost his balance. The mutated bear lunged at him, bringing a stench of blood. Ning Yu dodged to the side, but its sharp claws still left a bloody gash on his arm. The pain made him groan, the lingering ache of his old wound exacerbated by the pain. But he had no time to worry about that; Li San's life hung in the balance.
"Beast!" Ning Yu roared, his supernatural power surging, a ball of flame gathering in his palm before he hurled it at the mutated bear. The fireball struck the bear precisely on the back, instantly charring its fur and causing it to roar in agony.
Taking advantage of the mutated bear's momentary lapse in attention, Ning Yu leaped into the air, a sharp dagger appearing in his hand, and thrust it straight at the bear's eye. The bear, in pain, lashed out wildly with its claws, and Ning Yu narrowly escaped death, sustaining several more bloody wounds. But his gaze remained resolute, his movements ruthless, each strike deadly.
