Around the boulder, vines raged like giant pythons, frantically assaulting the defensive barrier. Each impact sent shivers down one's spine, and the boulder swayed precariously, as if it would collapse at any moment.
The team members took turns fighting, their supernatural abilities flashing intermittently, barely maintaining a fragile defensive line. Exhaustion was etched on every face, but their eyes held an unwavering determination; they had to fight for survival, to protect Ning Yu.
"boom!"
Another violent impact caused the boulder to tremble violently, and several pieces of rock tumbled down from the top, hitting the ground with a dull thud.
"Captain, we can't hold out much longer at this rate!" a team member said, pale-faced and panting, his superpowers nearly exhausted.
"Hang in there, just a little longer!" another teammate encouraged him. "It's almost dawn, as soon as it gets light..."
Before he could finish speaking, he was interrupted by a violent cough.
"Cough cough cough..."
It is Mu Xue.
She still held Ning Yu's hand tightly, her fair face covered in sweat, her lips chapped, clearly at her limit. But she couldn't afford to rest; one hand gathered a faint green light as she tried to channel her supernatural power into Ning Yu's body, hoping to revitalize his life force.
However, it was all in vain.
Ning Yu remained unresponsive, as if he were asleep, without breathing or heartbeat; only his faint body temperature proved that he was still alive.
"Ning Yu, wake up! Don't leave me alone..." Mu Xue's voice trembled with tears, her eyes reddening. She desperately wanted him to open his eyes, even just to scold her, anything would do, as long as he woke up...
Time ticked by, and dawn gradually broke, yet not a single ray of light could penetrate the darkness shrouded in vines. Worse still, a strange, nauseating stench permeated the air.
"Watch out, everyone!" a team member suddenly exclaimed. "It looks like something's there..."
Before he could finish speaking, several drops of dark green liquid dripped from the vines, landing on the ground with a sizzling, corrosive sound...
As dawn broke, the expected light failed to arrive, replaced by an even heavier sense of oppression. The sky seemed to have cracked open, and dark green raindrops fell in a steady drizzle, carrying a nauseating, sour stench.
"Damn it! What the hell is this thing!" one of the team members cursed, quickly setting up a protective shield formed by earth-based abilities.
Raindrops sizzled and corroded as they fell on the protective shield, emitting puffs of white smoke. The thin, earthy-yellow shield visibly thinned, as if it would shatter at any moment. The others also used their supernatural abilities to erect colorful shields, enveloping the boulder and protecting it from the strange acid rain.
"Hold on! Don't let this damn rain fall!"
However, human strength has its limits. With continuous consumption, everyone's superpowers are nearing exhaustion, and even the color of the protective shield has become extremely dull, like a candle flame that will be extinguished with a gust of wind.
Suddenly, one of the team members was caught off guard, and a drop of dark green rain fell on his arm, instantly producing a puff of white smoke. The sound of flesh being corroded was clearly audible.
"Ah!" The team member let out a piercing scream, clutching his arm and collapsing to the ground in agony. A horrifying wound was visible on his arm, the flesh torn open to reveal the stark white bone, and dark green liquid was still corroding his flesh, a chilling sight.
"Little Li!"
"Quickly, treat him!"
The surrounding team members were in a panic, frantically trying to stop the bleeding, but the dark green liquid seemed to be highly corrosive, and ordinary medicines were unable to stop the spread of the injury.
“It’s no use, my hand… my hand…” Xiao Li’s voice was broken and intermittent, his eyes filled with despair.
Witnessing this scene, everyone's hearts sank to the bottom, and a sense of powerlessness and fear spread through the crowd. Even Mu Xue, who had been holding on, felt a deep sense of powerlessness and despair at this moment.
She looked at the unconscious Ning Yu, then at the injured team members, her heart filled with helplessness. But she knew she couldn't fall; she was their only hope... Mu Xue took a deep breath, forcing back the tears in her eyes, and slowly stood up...
Mu Xue bit her lower lip, the bitterness and exhaustion almost crushing her. But she knew this was not the time to be weak. Ning Yu was still unconscious, the injured team members needed treatment, and she was the only pillar here; she had to be strong!
She forced herself to calm down and began to look around. The area around the boulder was barren, clearly affected by the previous battle, with not a blade of grass growing. Dark green acid rain continued to relentlessly lash the earth, and a suffocating despair filled the air.
"There must be a way, there must be a way..." Mu Xue kept telling herself, her eyes scanning every inch of the land, hoping to find something useful. Suddenly, her gaze fell on the shadows behind the boulder, where several tenacious plants seemed to be growing.
Without a second thought, Mu Xue rushed over through the acid rain. She carefully examined the plants and was pleasantly surprised to find one she recognized—a herb used to stop bleeding and reduce inflammation!
"Great!" A glimmer of hope ignited in Mu Xue's heart. She carefully picked the precious herb, but just then, a sudden change occurred!
A dark shadow suddenly darted out from the shadows behind the boulder, bringing with it a foul stench, and rushed straight towards Mu Xue!
Mu Xue was startled and instinctively dodged to the side, barely avoiding the attack of the dark figure. Upon closer inspection, she saw a monster the size of a cheetah staring intently at her, its scarlet eyes filled with a bloodthirsty ferocity.
