The black smoke finally dissipated, revealing a colossal creature before them. It possessed limbs as thick as a giant lizard and a long tail covered in sharp spikes. Its entire body was covered in thick, black scales that gleamed with a metallic sheen. A pair of crimson eyes, like two ghostly lanterns, emitted a chilling light. It opened its blood-red maw, revealing two rows of sharp fangs, and unleashed a deafening roar at Ning Yu and the others.
"roar--!"
The roar was like a thunderclap from a clear sky, making everyone's eardrums ache. Some of the weaker team members even bled from their mouths and noses and collapsed to the ground. Ning Yu endured the buzzing discomfort in his head. He knew he couldn't fall at this moment. He was the backbone of this team. If he fell, everyone would lose hope.
"Everyone, scatter and break through!" Ning Yu shouted hoarsely, his voice drowned out by the monster's roar, but he believed his team members would understand his intentions.
He forced himself to his feet, ignoring the excruciating pain throughout his body, and charged towards the monster. His goal wasn't to defeat it, but to draw its attention as much as possible, buying time for the others to escape.
"Captain!" The team members were extremely anxious when they saw Ning Yu rushing towards the monster recklessly, but they also knew that this was the only way at the moment. They gritted their teeth, suppressed their fear, and scattered and fled according to Ning Yu's instructions.
The monster seemed enraged by Ning Yu's reckless actions. It abandoned its pursuit of the scattered "little insects" and instead focused all its attention on Ning Yu. It swung its enormous claws and slammed them down at Ning Yu.
"boom--!"
Ning Yu barely dodged the attack, but the immense impact still sent him flying, crashing heavily to the ground several meters away. He struggled to get up, but found his vision blurring and a metallic taste rising in his throat.
"Cough cough..." Ning Yu clutched his chest and spat out a mouthful of blood. He looked up at the monster that was approaching step by step, a resolute glint in his eyes.
"It seems we're doomed today..."
Just then, a figure rushed to Ning Yu like lightning, a sharp blade gleaming in the cold light in his hand, and without hesitation slashed at the monster's giant claw.
"when--"
Amidst the clanging of metal, sparks flew everywhere.
"How are you?" Mu Xue sheathed her blade, turned to look at Ning Yu, her voice filled with undisguised worry.
Ning Yu shook his head, wanting to say something, but was interrupted by Mu Xue: "Now is not the time to talk, let's figure out how to deal with it first!"
She looked around, her eyes searching the desolate ruins for anything she could use...
Mu Xue understood Ning Yu's intention; he was using herself as bait to buy them time. Her heart felt like it was being gripped tightly by an invisible hand, the pain almost suffocating her. She forced herself to calm down; now was not the time for grief. She had to find a way to rescue Ning Yu from that monster's clutches.
"Spread out and look around for anything we can use!" Mu Xue shouted to the others, her eyes quickly scanning the surroundings.
But all that met the eye was desolation. Broken walls, twisted metal skeletons, and land corroded by black smoke—there was almost nothing usable.
"Damn it!" Mu Xue couldn't help but curse under her breath, gripping the sharp blade in her hand tightly.
On the other side, Ning Yu was engaged in a fierce battle with the black behemoth. He constantly mobilized the plant energy within his body, trying to find the opponent's weakness. Vines lashed out like raging pythons, and thorns flew like sharp blades, but all these attacks landed on the black behemoth as if they were just tickling it, leaving only a few shallow white marks.
On the contrary, each attack from the black behemoth carried overwhelming power, causing Ning Yu's blood and qi to surge. Under the repeated impacts, the plant energy within his body became increasingly chaotic, as if it would lose control at any moment.
"This can't go on..." Alarm bells rang in Ning Yu's mind. He knew he had to come up with a solution as soon as possible, or he might really die here today.
While dodging the black behemoth's attacks, he carefully observed its movements, trying to find a weakness. However, the monster's speed and strength far exceeded his expectations; every attack was precise and ruthless, giving him no chance to breathe.
"boom--"
The black behemoth slammed down with its claw, and Ning Yu, unable to dodge in time, was sent flying by the immense force, crashing heavily into a broken wall. He groaned, feeling as if his internal organs had shifted; the excruciating pain made his vision blur, and he almost fainted.
"Captain!" The team members watching from afar were instantly enraged upon seeing this scene.
Seeing Ning Yu being knocked away, several gasps erupted from the team. The team members could no longer remain calm and charged towards the black behemoth with bloodshot eyes.
"A thousand miles frozen over!"
"Flames engulf the city!"
"Golden spears and iron horses!"
In an instant, the light of various supernatural abilities exploded in the black smoke, illuminating this desperate battlefield. Ice spikes rained down, fire dragons roared as they charged towards the behemoth, and metal storms frantically slashed at its body... However, all these attacks landed on the black behemoth as if they had been thrown into the sea, only causing ripples.
The black behemoth impatiently shook its body, and a powerful energy wave spread out from it. The first few team members to be hit groaned, as if struck by an invisible giant hammer, and were sent flying backward, spitting blood.
"Damn it! What kind of monster is this?!"
