Mu Xue rushed towards the spot where Ning Yu had fallen, disregarding everything else. Dust blinded her, and she could only run forward, stumbling and staggering, guided only by her senses. Her teammates reacted quickly and followed closely behind, but they knew their immediate priority was to find another exit to escape.
"Captain! Over here!" A team member found a relatively weak spot in the wall and called for the others to concentrate their fire. The deafening impacts and the creaking of metal mingled together, like a death symphony.
Ignoring all of that, Mu Xue pushed aside the rubble and steel bars pressing down on her and finally found Ning Yu buried under the ruins. He lay there quietly, his face as pale as paper, without a trace of blood.
"Ning Yu! Ning Yu!" Mu Xue's heart felt like it had been ripped apart. She threw herself at Ning Yu and shook him violently.
His clothes were stained red with blood, a shocking sight. Mu Xue trembled as she checked his breath; it was so faint she could barely feel it.
"Ning Yu, wake up! You can't die! You promised you would take me with you..." Mu Xue's voice choked with sobs, and tears streamed down her face, dripping onto Ning Yu's cold face.
She held Ning Yu tightly, as if she wanted to meld him into her body.
"Found it! We can get out this way!" came the team members' ecstatic shouts from afar.
"Quick! Quickly, get the captain and Captain Ning..."
The team member's voice abruptly stopped as he witnessed the shocking and heartbreaking scene before him.
The wall was finally breached, and blinding sunlight poured in, illuminating the ruins and Mu Xue's despairing expression.
"Captain! We've found the exit!" The team members' joyful voices came from the cave entrance, but their joy froze instantly when they saw the scene before them.
"Quick! The captain seems to be injured!" The team members reacted quickly and rushed to Mu Xue's side, helping to remove the rubble and steel bars that were pressing on Ning Yu.
"Captain, we have to get out of here immediately! This building won't last much longer!" a team member shouted anxiously, his voice trembling slightly with fear. Above them, the already crumbling building groaned ominously, as more dust and debris rained down from above.
Mu Xue wiped away her tears, took a deep breath, and tried to calm herself down. She knew this was not the time to grieve; she had to raise Ning Yu and help him survive.
"You guys, carry the captain! Let's go!" Mu Xue suppressed her grief and directed her team members to lift Ning Yu onto the makeshift stretcher.
They moved with difficulty, bent over and crouching low, through the narrow passage. Above them, the ruins of the building emitted a chilling sound, as if death were drawing ever closer.
"Faster! Faster!" Mu Xue kept urging, her gaze never leaving Ning Yu's pale face.
Just as they were about to reach the cave entrance, the ground suddenly shook violently.
"Oh no! Run!" a team member shouted in terror.
It's too late.
A massive boulder, like the hammer of death, crashed down upon them with a destructive force...
"Use your superpower! Quick!" Mu Xue shouted, and at the same time, a water curtain instantly rose around her body, trying to block the impact of the falling rocks.
The other team members also unleashed their special abilities, and the multicolored lights intertwined to form a fragile barrier.
"boom--"
After the loud bang, the world seemed to stand still for a moment.
"Cough cough..."
Some people coughed painfully, while others gasped in fear.
"How are you? Are you alright?"
"I...I'm fine..."
"Quick! Check if anyone else is injured?!"
Mu Xue struggled to get up from the ground. Her gaze swept over her teammates one by one, and her heart sank.
"Zhang Qiang! Your leg..."
...Amidst the billowing dust, Mu Xue coughed a few times and struggled to her feet. A sharp pain shot through her chest; she had clearly been injured by the shockwave from the falling rocks. Ignoring her own injuries, her gaze anxiously swept over her teammates.
"Zhang Qiang! Your leg..." Mu Xue's voice trembled.
Zhang Qiang's face was pale, and large beads of sweat rolled down his forehead. He looked down at his leg, where a twisted steel bar had pierced through his calf, and blood stained the surrounding rubble.
"It's okay, I can still hold on..." Zhang Qiang said through gritted teeth, enduring the excruciating pain.
"Don't move!" A team member quickly stepped forward and used a bandage he carried to stop the bleeding.
"Captain, look!" A team member pointed towards the cave entrance, his voice filled with fear.
Mu Xue looked up and saw that the already unstable building structure at the cave entrance had collapsed again, with rubble and steel bars falling like raindrops, completely blocking their escape route.
"Damn it!" Mu Xue cursed under her breath; they were truly trapped now.
"Captain, what do we do now?" The team members all looked desperate.
"Don't panic! We must have another way!" Mu Xue forced herself to calm down, looked around, and tried to find a new way out.
"Captain, Captain..." At this moment, Ning Yu, who had been unconscious, suddenly let out a weak voice.
"The captain is awake!"
Mu Xue was overjoyed and rushed to Ning Yu's side, "A Ning, how are you feeling?"
Ning Yu slowly opened her eyes, her gaze unfocused as she looked at Mu Xue, and weakly said, "I...I'm fine..."
"It's alright, it's alright..." Mu Xue could no longer hold back her tears, which welled up in her eyes.
