Ning Yu's pupils contracted sharply when he saw the strange bird stop moving. The trap had been discovered! He knew he couldn't wait any longer; he had to take a desperate gamble. He took a deep breath, mobilized all the remaining power within him, clenched his fist, and charged towards the strange bird.
Seeing Ning Yu's actions, Mu Xue understood the urgency of the situation. She gritted her teeth, tensed her abdominal muscles, and rushed forward as well. The two figures, one after the other, shot towards the strange bird in mid-air like arrows released from a bow.
As the strange bird saw them charging towards it, a hint of contempt flashed in its crimson eyes. It opened its enormous beak, revealing sharp teeth, and let out a piercing cry. The cry was as shrill as a dagger, making Ning Yu and Mu Xue's ears ring and their vision blur. But they didn't stop; instead, they quickened their pace.
"Cover me!" Ning Yu shouted, his body suddenly accelerating, overtaking Mu Xue, and heading straight for the strange bird.
Mu Xue understood immediately, raising her hands to condense a dazzling ball of energy, which she then hurled at the strange bird. The energy ball streaked through the air, creating a bright line of light, and hurtled straight into the bird.
Although the strange bird sensed the danger, its enormous size and slow movements made it difficult to dodge. It could only flap its massive wings in an attempt to block the energy ball's attack.
"boom!"
The energy ball exploded on the strange bird's wing with a deafening bang. The powerful shockwave knocked the bird to the ground, creating an excellent opportunity for Ning Yu.
Ning Yu reached the base of the strange bird first. He leaped up with all his might and punched the bird in the abdomen. Although the punch didn't cause much damage, it did make the bird feel pain.
The strange bird let out a painful cry and struggled to stand up. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Ning Yu swung his fist again, striking the strange bird's abdomen repeatedly.
Mu Xue also rushed over, the dagger in her hand gleaming coldly, and without hesitation stabbed at the strange bird's eye.
The strange bird's eye was pierced, and it let out a shrill scream. It frantically flapped its wings, trying to escape Ning Yu and Mu Xue's attack.
Ning Yu and Mu Xue were struck by the strange bird's wing and fell heavily to the ground.
"Cough cough..." Ning Yu coughed a few times, struggling to stand up.
"Ning Yu!" Mu Xue called out anxiously.
Just then, the strange bird suddenly stopped struggling, its body stiffened and it fell to the ground, motionless.
Ning Yu and Mu Xue exchanged a glance, both seeing the confusion in each other's eyes.
"It...is dead?" Mu Xue asked uncertainly.
Ning Yu shook his head; he felt a powerful energy surging from the strange bird's body.
“No, it’s not dead yet…” Ning Yu’s voice was low and solemn, “It is…”
Suddenly, the ground began to shake violently, and a dazzling light shot into the sky from the strange bird's body...
"Hurry up!" Ning Yu grabbed Mu Xue's hand and ran off into the distance.
“It…it’s going to…” Mu Xue’s face turned pale as she stared in horror at the beam of light shooting into the sky.
"No time to explain!" Ning Yu grabbed Mu Xue and ran off into the distance without looking back, leaving only one sentence echoing in the wind: "It's about to evolve..."
Ning Yu reached the base of the strange bird first. He leaped up with all his might and punched it in the abdomen. His fist was covered with a thin layer of energy that crackled with electricity. Although the punch didn't cause much damage to the bird's hard abdomen, it did make it feel pain, and it let out a hoarse cry.
The strange bird's massive body swayed slightly, its attention drawn to Ning Yu. Seeing this, Mu Xue immediately picked up a sharp branch that had been broken off by the strange bird and, seizing the opportunity, stabbed it fiercely into the bird's thick leg.
With a sharp "hiss," the thorn pierced the thick scales of the strange bird's leg, penetrating deep into its flesh. The bird cried out in pain, letting out a deafening shriek, and angrily flapped its massive wings. The powerful wind pressure instantly created a small hurricane, violently blasting Mu Xue away.
Like a kite with a broken string, Mu Xue traced an arc through the air before crashing heavily to the ground more than ten meters away, raising a cloud of dust. She groaned, feeling as if her internal organs had shifted, and a metallic taste rose in her mouth.
"Mu Xue!" Ning Yu was filled with rage when he saw Mu Xue being slapped away. Ignoring his own injuries, he charged at the strange bird again, his fists clenched, his eyes filled with determination.
The monstrous bird's crimson eyes were fixed on Ning Yu. Its enormous claws shot out and seized Ning Yu's shoulder. The sharp claws pierced Ning Yu's clothes and dug deep into his flesh. The intense pain caused Ning Yu to groan involuntarily, but he remained fixed on the monstrous bird, his eyes showing no fear.
The strange bird tried to throw Ning Yu off, but Ning Yu held on tightly to its claws, refusing to let go. He mobilized all the remaining supernatural power within him, gathering it in his fists, and slammed them down hard on the bird's head.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
A series of dull thuds rang out as Ning Yu's fist struck the strange bird, causing its head to tilt slightly backward, a hint of pain flashing in its eyes.
Just then, the energy surging from the strange bird grew stronger and stronger, the surrounding air began to distort violently, and the ground shook even more violently. The strange bird roared to the sky, its voice filled with pain and resentment.
Ning Yu felt his hand gripping the strange bird's claw growing hotter and hotter, as if it were about to melt. He looked up and saw that the strange bird's body was beginning to emit a dazzling white light, and a powerful energy wave was emanating from its body, as if it wanted to devour everything.
