A sharp pain exploded in his chest, and Ning Yu groaned, staggering backward. Crimson blood spilled from the corner of his mouth, leaving a glaring mark on his pale lips. He tried his best to steady himself, but found that his internal energy was churning and his supernatural abilities were in complete disarray.
"leader!"
"Ning Yu!"
In the distance, the team members who witnessed this scene were extremely anxious. They wanted to rush forward anxiously, but they were also afraid of the invisible force that enveloped the battlefield, and could only watch helplessly as Ning Yu suffered heavy injuries.
"Don't come any closer!" Ning Yu shouted, enduring the excruciating pain.
He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, his gaze fixed on the light in the sky. This power was so strong, yet so unfamiliar. Where did it come from, and what was its purpose?
"Could it be because I tried to investigate it?" Ning Yu wondered to himself, his brows furrowed.
Silence reigned all around, broken only by the howling of the biting wind, which whipped up dust and fallen leaves, adding to the desolate atmosphere. The team members exchanged bewildered glances, not understanding what had happened, their eyes revealing only fear and unease.
"This power... is terrifying," someone whispered, their voice trembling slightly.
"What should we do?" another person asked, their voice filled with confusion.
They were all veteran team members who had followed Ning Yu for many years and had experienced countless life-and-death trials. However, at this moment, facing this unknown force, they felt an unprecedented sense of powerlessness and fear.
Ning Yu took a deep breath, suppressing his unease. He couldn't collapse, nor could he allow fear to spread within the team.
"I'm fine," he said in a deep voice, weak but firm. "Everyone step back, I'll think of something."
With that, he took another step and walked towards the light. With each step he took, he felt an invisible pressure bearing down on him, as if it were going to crush him.
Ning Yu steadied himself, took a deep breath, and calmed his surging blood. A metallic, sweet taste filled his mouth, but he had no time to care. He looked up at the sky, where the light still shone brightly, as if mocking his overestimation of his abilities.
"I refuse to believe you can do anything to me!" Ning Yu's eyes sharpened, a fierce determination rising within him. He refused to believe that this power was truly unsolvable!
He took another step, this time channeling all his supernatural abilities to form a protective shield around his body. With each step closer, he felt as if he were carrying a mountain on his back, making it hard to breathe. But he didn't stop; instead, he quickened his pace, because he knew that only by getting closer could he find a way to break through it.
The mysterious force seemed to sense Ning Yu's intention, and its light suddenly surged, blinding everyone. Immediately afterward, countless rays of light descended from the sky, like sharp arrows, carrying a world-destroying force, shooting towards Ning Yu.
"Leader, watch out!" the team members cried out, but it was too late.
Ning Yu's pupils contracted sharply. These beams of light were too fast for him to completely dodge. In a flash, he mobilized all his supernatural abilities, condensing them into a massive shield in front of him.
"boom!"
The light struck the shield, creating a deafening explosion. The immense impact sent Ning Yu staggering back several steps, his arms going numb, and the protective shield around his body shattering.
"puff!"
A mouthful of blood gushed out, and Ning Yu swayed precariously. But he still did not give up. He gritted his teeth and persevered, his eyes fixed on the light in the sky.
Another wave of light struck, and this time, Ning Yu didn't choose to withstand it head-on. Instead, he used his agility to weave through the light and dodge it. His movements were as fast as lightning, and each dodge was extremely dangerous, but he always managed to escape unscathed.
"Damn it, this isn't going to work!" Ning Yu cursed inwardly. If he kept dodging like this, he would eventually run out of energy. Moreover, this power seemed to be constantly increasing, making it more and more difficult for him to dodge.
Just then, he suddenly felt a strong sense of crisis. He looked up sharply and saw a beam of light, thicker than any of the previous beams, crashing down on him.
"Not good!" Ning Yu was terrified. The power of this beam of light was definitely beyond his ability to withstand.
He tried desperately to dodge, but the beam was too fast, and he had no time to react.
The beam of light struck Ning Yu precisely, and a tremendous explosion resounded throughout the heavens and earth.
As the smoke cleared, a huge crater was visible in the ground, but Ning Yu had vanished without a trace...
"Leader!!!" In the distance, the team members rushed over, their eyes bloodshot and their voices hoarse with rage.
However, what greeted them was only deathly silence...
“It’s all the leader’s fault. If he hadn’t insisted on…” A voice rang out from the crowd, but was silenced by the angry glares of the others.
"Shut up!"
"Now is not the time to talk about these things!"
...
However, this complaint was like a pebble thrown into a calm pond, creating ripples...
Smoke filled the air, and the smell of burning flesh permeated the atmosphere. The team members searched frantically around the giant crater, their shouts and cries mingling together, but all they received in response was endless silence.
"It's all the leader's fault! If he hadn't been so eager for revenge, we wouldn't have provoked such a terrifying force!" A suppressed voice rang out from the crowd, trembling with discontent.
“That’s right, we finally managed to settle down, and now look what’s happened, we’ve lost everything…” another voice chimed in, its tone filled with despair and resentment.
These words, like sharp blades, pierced the hearts of everyone present, including Ning Yu, who was hiding in the shadows and heavily injured. He clutched his chest, the intense pain making it almost impossible for him to breathe, but what he found even more unbearable was the doubt and accusations directed at him by his former comrades-in-arms.
