Chapter 128 The Perilous Journey Begins, Exploring the Mysteries of the Overlord

He looked around, trying to find some familiar landmarks. However, all he saw were desolate ruins and twisted vegetation. The shadow of nuclear war still loomed over this land, destroying all traces of the former civilization.

"Let's find a place to rest first, and we'll think of something tomorrow." Mu Xue's voice was weak; the long battle and the recurrence of her old injuries had exhausted her.

Ning Yu nodded. He knew that now was not the time to be reckless; he had to conserve his energy to face the challenges ahead.

They found a relatively secluded valley with a clear stream flowing through it, bringing a touch of life to the otherwise desolate environment.

However, Ning Yu's unease grew stronger. A thin layer of mist permeated the valley, carrying a strange fragrance. Although the fragrance was pleasant, it evoked a strange sense of familiarity and fear in him.

"Watch out! There's something strange about this fog!" Ning Yu suddenly shouted, but it was too late.

Several team members had already inhaled the mist; their eyes began to glaze over, eerie smiles appeared on their faces, and they muttered to themselves as if they had seen something terrifying.

"Hahaha... Who are you? Don't come any closer... Ah!" A team member suddenly went berserk, swinging his weapon and slashing at his comrade next to him.

"Oh no, this fog can cause hallucinations!" Mu Xue's expression changed, and she quickly conjured an ice wall in her hand to block the attack.

"Everyone hold your breath, don't inhale the mist!" Ning Yu shouted, releasing an electric current that knocked out several team members who were hallucinating.

However, the fog spread extremely quickly, soon enveloping the entire valley. More and more team members fell into hallucinations, attacking each other, creating chaos.

Ning Yu and Mu Xue stood back to back, desperately fending off attacks from their companion. Their stamina and supernatural abilities were rapidly depleting, and the situation was becoming increasingly precarious.

"This can't go on, we have to leave here as soon as possible!" Mu Xue said through gritted teeth, a resolute glint in her eyes.

Ning Yu looked around anxiously. But then, he suddenly noticed a huge shadow appearing in the mist ahead. The shadow grew larger and clearer until finally, a chilling sight appeared before them…

"What is that?!" Mu Xue's voice trembled, her eyes filled with terror.

It was a gigantic spider, or rather, a spider-shaped monster. It had eight thick legs, each as thick as two people could hug, covered with black, hard armor that gleamed with a metallic sheen. Its bloated abdomen was covered with countless eyes, which were darting around, greedily scanning everything around it.

"What kind of monster is this..." a team member muttered to himself, his voice filled with fear.

"Don't just stand there, run!" Ning Yu shouted, taking the lead in retreating.

However, the monster was incredibly fast and caught up in the blink of an eye. It swung one of its massive legs, sweeping towards Ning Yu and the others.

"Ice Wall!" Mu Xue reacted quickly, immediately conjuring a thick ice wall in front of her.

With a deafening roar, the ice wall shattered into pieces by the giant spider's legs, sending ice shards flying everywhere. Mu Xue was shaken so badly that her blood surged, and she staggered back several steps before regaining her footing.

"I'll hold it off, you guys run!" Ning Yu shouted, his body crackling with lightning, and charged towards the giant spider.

"Be careful!" Mu Xue shouted anxiously, but Ning Yu had already rushed into the mist and was locked in battle with the giant spider.

"Let's go!" Mu Xue gritted her teeth, knowing that now was not the time to hesitate, and led the remaining team members to turn around and run.

However, they hadn't run far when they discovered a massive chasm ahead, its depths unfathomable, with no way to bypass it. They were trapped between the giant spider and the chasm, unable to move forward or backward.

"What do we do? We're surrounded!" one of the team members shouted in panic.

"Don't panic, there must be another way!" Mu Xue forced herself to remain calm, looking around, trying to find hope of escape.

Just then, the giant spider broke through Ning Yu's lightning defense and approached them. It let out a deafening roar, and a foul stench billowed out, making people want to vomit.

"Damn it!" Mu Xue cursed under her breath, knowing there was no way to avoid it. She took a deep breath, preparing to fight to the death.

However, just then, Ning Yu's voice suddenly came from behind them: "This way!"

When Mu Xue and the others turned around, they saw that Ning Yu had escaped from the giant spider's attack and was standing at the edge of the rift, waving to them.

"Come here quickly!" Ning Yu called out again, his voice tinged with anxiety.

Without hesitation, Mu Xue and the others immediately ran towards Ning Yu. They didn't know why Ning Yu had asked them to come to the edge of the rift valley, but now they had no choice but to trust him.

"What do you want to do?" Mu Xue ran to Ning Yu's side and asked.

Ning Yu didn't answer, but pointed to the bottom of the rift and said, "Look there."

Mu Xue followed Ning Yu's finger and saw some vines in the rift. These vines looked incredibly tough, stretching from the bottom of the valley all the way up, like natural ropes...
