Chapter 30 A Burden of Fame, Undercurrents Flowing

"You know perfectly well what you've done!" another water-based ability user said viciously. "Someone like you, who obtained your abilities through crooked means, doesn't deserve your current honor and status!"

"If you want to find fault, you can always find a reason!" Ning Yu said coldly. "Today I'll show you what true strength is!"

Before he could finish speaking, Ning Yu's figure flashed and he instantly disappeared from the spot.

Over the next few days, Ning Yu continued to investigate the mastermind behind the rumors. He visited many people and used his connections, but those people were well hidden, and he was at a loss for the time being.

"Damn it! Who's behind this?" Ning Yu slammed his fist on the table, his heart filled with anger and helplessness.

"What's wrong? Are you still angry about those rumors?" Mu Xue walked in carrying a plate of fruit and asked with concern when she saw Ning Yu looking down.

“Those rumors are nothing, it’s just that I’m worried…” Ning Yu hesitated before continuing.

"What are you worried about?" Mu Xue pressed.

“I’m worried that some people will use these rumors to harm the people around me,” Ning Yu said in a deep voice. “As you know, I’m now very influential and attract a lot of attention, so it’s inevitable that some people will try to cause trouble.”

"Don't worry, I'll be careful," Mu Xue reassured her. "You should also be careful."

"Hmm." Ning Yu nodded, but his heart remained unsettled. He knew that the only way to completely shatter these rumors was to demonstrate even greater strength, silencing those with ill intentions.

“My mind is made up…” A glint flashed in Ning Yu’s eyes as he said in a deep voice, “I will prove my strength to everyone at the Superpowered Individuals Conference in three days!”

The Superpowered Individuals Conference, held three days later, took place as scheduled. On that day, the central square of the camp was packed with people, with superpowered individuals from all over gathering together in an exceptionally lively atmosphere.

Ning Yu stood in the crowd, feeling the various gazes directed at him: some admiring, some curious, some suspicious, and even some undisguised hostility. He knew that what he was facing today was not just a demonstration of strength, but a battle to defend his dignity.

"Brother Ning, don't be nervous." Brother Wu patted Ning Yu on the shoulder and encouraged him, "You are the strongest superhuman in our camp, show them your true skills!"

"Don't worry, Brother Wu, I know what I'm doing." Ning Yu smiled slightly, his eyes shining with confidence.

The event began, and after the host briefly introduced the competition rules, he announced the start of the first competition: a strength test.

A burly superhuman walked onto the stage, gripped the handles of the testing device with both hands, and exerted force. The numbers on the device rapidly increased, eventually settling on the "800 kilograms" mark. A gasp of astonishment erupted from the audience; this was a remarkably impressive result.

Several more superhumans went up to test their abilities, but none of them exceeded 800 kilograms. Just when everyone thought this record was unlikely to be broken, Ning Yu stepped onto the stage.

"It's Ning Yu! He's also going to participate in the strength test?"

"What's he doing here, a psychic with superpowers?"

"Exactly, isn't this just inviting humiliation?"

There was a lot of discussion in the audience, with most people not optimistic about Ning Yu. However, Ning Yu ignored these comments. He calmly walked to the testing device, took a deep breath, and placed his hands on the handles.

An invisible force surged from his body, rapidly spreading throughout his entire being. He exerted his strength suddenly, and the numbers on the testing device jumped wildly, instantly breaking through 1000 kilograms, and still rising!

1200 kg!

1500 kilograms!

1800 kg!

...

"My God! He... he actually..." Exclamations erupted from the crowd. Everyone was shocked by the amazing power Ning Yu had displayed. The originally noisy discussions gradually disappeared, leaving only the numbers constantly jumping on the testing device, as if they were pounding on everyone's heart.

2000 kilograms! The number finally settled on this unbelievable figure. Ning Yu slowly withdrew his hands, his face showing no trace of pride, as if he had only done a trivial matter. However, his calm expression, seen by everyone, was more awe-inspiring than any words.

"How could this be? How could a psychic be so powerful?" someone in the crowd muttered in disbelief.

"Could it be...could those rumors be true?" another person said, his face pale and his voice filled with fear.
