Chapter 197 Death is never the end

After spending about 15 minutes alone in the corridor, Shen Fu finally opened the door behind him.

Upon entering the ward, Grandma Chen realized she had regained consciousness at some point.

"Aman is here?" She sat quietly on the bed, as if she were waiting for his arrival.

Shen Fu didn't say anything, but silently placed the lunchbox on the bedside table. At the same time, he took out the medical report and handed it to her.

He stared intently at Grandma Chen's face, afraid of missing even the slightest reaction.

However, there was nothing there.

Even when she saw the report, Grandma Chen smiled knowingly: "I knew it. If it were you, you would have done it this way."

He remained silent.

He asked incredulously, "But... how is this possible?"

“Aman.” In contrast to Shen Fu’s loss of composure, Grandma Chen remained calm: “Nothing is impossible in this world. Including me.”

He remained silent.

He, who always prided himself on his composure, appeared utterly at a loss in front of Grandma Chen.

This was the first time he had looked at her face so closely.

His temples were graying, and his eyes were sunken.

As she aged, her skin became dry and wrinkled. Even her back was slightly hunched.

Grandma Chen's forehead was still wrapped in gauze, and the long-term intravenous infusion had left her already thin hands covered in bruises.

He dared not think about, nor even attempt to think about, how she had overcome those difficulties to come to his side.

"Does it hurt?" Shen Fu gently stroked the back of her hand, his face showing reluctance and sadness.

Grandma Chen gently shook her head, then asked, "Did I scare Aman like this?"

"No," Shen Fu quickly explained, "I just feel heartbroken and incredulous..."

He blinked, his eyes stinging, and then asked, "Did something happen that caused this situation?"

Grandma Chen was not at all surprised that Shen Fu would raise such a question.

After all, he has always been so perceptive, both in the past and now.

"Yes and no." She didn't dare reveal too much, so she could only answer ambiguously: "I came here for Aman. But to be more precise, it was for Xiaoshu, Wanwan, and myself."

Suddenly, Grandma Chen leaned closer to Shen Fu and warned in a low voice, "Be careful of Shen Xinxing! He's not as simple as he seems."

A hint of surprise flashed in Shen Fu's eyes.

"I'm sorry, there are many things I can't explain to you one by one." Grandma Chen looked at the various IV bottles and electronic instruments around her, full of helplessness: "Because the more interference there is, the greater the impact on me."

Upon hearing this, Shen Fu couldn't help but become nervous.

He clenched his fists and asked worriedly, "Will you leave?"

"Yes, I will," Grandma Chen said calmly. "I don't belong here, so one day I will leave."

"But don't worry, Ah Man. It's just leaving. I'm just going back to my own world... Death is never the end."

When she said this, Grandma Chen's eyes were bright and sparkling.

It was no longer as murky and empty as before. It seemed as if it didn't care at all about its impending death.

A lump formed in his throat, and a hint of sadness appeared in his eyes: "Will we ever meet again?"

"Of course," Grandma Chen assured with a smile, "that's also my ultimate purpose for coming here."

Shen Fu wanted to ask something else.

But they were also afraid that knowing too much would endanger Grandma Chen's life.

He could only silently lower his head and droop his head.

Looking at Shen Fu's slightly upturned ponytail at the back of his head.

Grandma Chen couldn't resist reaching out to touch it.

However, now, the little ponytail is too far away from her.

She no longer belongs to her: "After I leave, can I ask Aman for a favor?"

Shen Fu slowly raised his head.

"One day, after I die..."

Grandma Chen paused, then looked cautiously at Shen Fu.

Only after confirming that his emotions were normal did she continue, "After I die, do not cremate me, nor bury me. Leave me a small house, and do not let anyone disturb me."

Seeing that Shen Fu remained silent, Grandma Chen continued, "I know this will be a little difficult for you, but I have no choice but to ask you for this. Okay, Aman?"

Shen Fu nodded with difficulty: "Okay..."

...

That evening, Grandma Chen insisted that Shen Fu go back to rest.

“There’s nothing special going on in the hospital. If anything does happen, I can call a nurse myself,” Grandma Chen said. “Besides, I believe Aman would rather be back with Wanwan right now than stay here.”

indeed.

Just as Grandma Chen said, Shen Fu's mind is in turmoil right now.

His expression was complicated, and he seemed somewhat at a loss when he looked at Grandma Chen.

Grandma Chen waved her hand dismissively: "I know that what happened today is hard for Aman to accept. But you must remember what I told you."

"must!"……

...

That evening, after dinner, Ning Yanshu insisted on going to Ning You's house to play with her younger sister, An'an.

Upon learning of Ning You's plan to study abroad, Ning Wan was surprised but also expressed her approval: "I support you!"

"It's never too late to do what you want to do."

"Mmm." Ning You nodded: "I like design, I like turning a bunch of fabrics into beautiful clothes through my own hands."

This was something she used to enjoy.

Because of her passion, even though it's difficult to pick up her studies again after they've been neglected, she's willing to give it her all.
