Chapter 22 Living Human Traffickers

Yuncheng is very, very big.

Ning Yanshu looked bewildered as she stepped out of the subway station.

Looking around, the tall buildings stood in a neat and orderly fashion. The towering figures stood straight and proud, looking down at the unexpected little person.

Ning Yanshu looked up with difficulty, only to see them standing like pillars supporting the sky, seemingly about to engulf him entirely.

Ning Yanshu felt a sudden, inexplicable sense of fear rise in his heart.

He took a small step back, wanting to go home.

But whenever she recalled what Wang Zihao had said at kindergarten that morning, the hesitation and fear in her heart transformed once again into an even stronger resolve.

He took the first step without hesitation...

...

Three minutes later.

Ning Yanshu looked at the intersection, which looked almost exactly the same as before, and felt a little anxious.

He thought he might be lost.

Ning Yanshu stood helplessly in the crowd, feeling exhausted and hungry.

He began to panic and became at a loss.

He turned around, wanting to go home.

But the crisscrossing roads behind him looked so terrifying at that moment.

He had long since lost his way home...

...

Ning Yanshu really wanted to cry.

I really want to snuggle into my mother's arms and act cute.

But the completely unfamiliar place in front of him made him bite his lip so hard that he dared not make a sound.

Ning Yanshu regretted it.

All he wants now is to go home.

I just want to find my mother...

...

The people around seemed to gradually notice this out-of-place child.

Gradually, a crowd gathered around Ning Yanshu.

"Whose child is this? Is he lost?"

"If anyone's child is lost, call the police immediately."

Before Ning Yanshu could ask the kind passersby for help, she was suddenly hugged by someone.

As he explained to passersby, he carried Ning Yanshu away from the crowd, saying, "I'm sorry, this is my child."

Hearing his words, Ning Yanshu was overjoyed.

He thought his father had descended from the sky to protect him.

But when he turned around and saw that ugly, pockmarked face, Ning Yanshu felt disgusted.

Ning Yanshu reached out and covered the man's face, shouting loudly, "I don't know you! You're not my father!"

The crowd, which had been about to disperse, gathered together once again.

Someone asked warily, "Is this really your child?"

“Of course,” the man explained. “Look at us, we look so alike!”

Passersby looked at the fair-skinned little boy, then at the man with a pockmarked face, and became even more suspicious: "You're not a human trafficker, are you?"

Just then, another accomplice, who had been hiding in the crowd, suddenly appeared.

Upon seeing Ning Yanshu, she slapped him without saying a word: "You brat! All we did was refuse to buy you toys, and you disappeared in the blink of an eye! Don't you know how hard your parents searched for you?"

Then, the woman explained to the suspicious passersby: "We are a family, a real family. The child was throwing a tantrum because we wouldn't buy him a toy."

As the woman spoke, she gestured again towards the toy car set she was carrying.

"You see, I was forced to buy it for him anyway. I just didn't expect that the child would disappear in the blink of an eye." The woman's face was full of sincerity and apology.

"I'm so sorry, the child was being naughty and caused everyone trouble. I'm so sorry..."

Ning Yanshu's head was buzzing from the slap the woman gave him.

Ignoring the pain on his face, he hurriedly explained, "No, you're lying! You're bluffing, you're deceiving me!"

But no one believed him.

You see several naughty kids like that every day.

A passerby advised, "You must keep a close eye on your child in the future. If there are any problems, educate them at home behind closed doors. If they encounter human traffickers, it will be too late to regret it."

"Yes, yes, yes, that's what you said."

The two human traffickers, a man and a woman, hurriedly carried Ning Yanshu away.

Ning Yanshu was held in the man's arms, and he covered her mouth.

The other person also seemed very nervous, their arms were tightly wrapped around their waist.

Ning Yanshu felt a lot of pain in her body.

They left the crowd and ran into a secluded alley.

Perhaps the alarm bells in their hearts were extinguished, and gradually, the two relaxed and slowed down their running speed.

"Today, it all came so easily!" The woman smiled smugly, her expression exaggerated beneath the thick foundation.

And there were also those who wore bright red lipstick, layer upon layer.

With its mouth agape, it looked like a man-eating monster.

The man chuckled and replied, "That's for sure, we caught this kid in no time."

“I’ve been watching this guy in the subway station for a long time and noticed he came out alone. That’s why I contacted you right away.” The man freed one hand and stroked the woman’s cheek.

The woman feigned reluctance: "Ugh~"

The two were in an ambiguous atmosphere, completely disregarding Ning Yanshu in their arms.

It wasn't until Ning Yanshu opened her eyes wide with curiosity and asked them, "Uncle and Aunt, are you kidnappers?"

“Our family is very poor. My mother sells boxed lunches and doesn't have enough money to pay the ransom.”

Perhaps it was because Ning Yanshu spoke so seriously that the man couldn't help but burst into laughter.

He didn't try to hide it from Ning Yanshu, saying bluntly, "You guessed wrong, we're human traffickers. Wait a minute, we'll take you to some remote mountain village and sell you!"

Upon hearing this, the woman slapped the man on the shoulder and scolded, "You rascal, don't scare the child later."

After saying that, the woman leaned closer to Ning Yanshu to comfort her: "My little darling, don't be afraid. You're so pretty, Auntie will find you a rich and good family. You'll never have to be afraid of living a poor life again."

The woman's perfume was strong and pungent.

Ning Yanshu felt somewhat uncomfortable from the fumes.

He frowned and quickly dodged away.

Ning Yanshu had only ever seen human traffickers in Teacher Youzi's words and in picture books.

To be honest, this was the first time he had ever seen one alive!

However, after the initial excitement came deep sorrow.

Although his family was very poor, he didn't want to be sold to a remote mountain village, nor did he want to be a child for a rich family.

He just wants to be a mother's child.

He has to find a way to escape!

Being away from the crowd caused Ning Yanshu to miss the best opportunity for rescue, and he had to think of another way.

Perhaps because he had been carrying Ning Yanshu for a long time, the man was a little tired from running.

The two were resting in a corner, catching their breath.

"Qiangzi, you're too weak. You can't even run anymore after such a short distance?"

The man named Qiangzi remained unmoved by the woman's sarcastic remarks.

He grinned, revealing two rows of yellow teeth, and said in a lewd way, "Sakura, don't be stubborn. You'll find out tonight whether I'm weak or not."

Sakura glared at him, somewhat speechless.

Making inappropriate jokes in front of children.

Ning Yanshu looked at Yingzi, then at Qiangzi, and said, "I need to pee."
