Chapter 112 Friendship Between Children

Chapter 112 Friendship Between Children

"Oh, you're going northeast."

After listening to Fan Xiaoxiao's explanation, Xiao Hei casually placed the beef by the well.

"If we go in that direction, it's on our way."

"Huh? Young heroes, are you also going in that direction?" Fan Xiaoxiao looked at Xiao Hei in surprise, thinking that there couldn't be such a coincidence.

But the coincidences of things are often unexpected.

"Yes, we're heading that way too." Xiao Hei nodded, filling a bucket with water to wash his hands.

After listening to his words, Fan Xiaoxiao was slightly taken aback at first, but then a thought immediately flashed through her mind—a ready-made bodyguard! Here he comes!

Thinking of this, Fan Xiaoxiao's lips curled up slightly, her smile somewhat malicious. She began to plan how to talk to Boss Ye about whether they could travel together.

Xiao Hei was completely unaware that Fan Xiaoxiao had been watching their journey. He was currently staring at the half-eaten piece of meat in front of him, scratching his head in an annoyed manner, then, as if having made up his mind, he gave Fan Xiaoxiao an awkward smile and said, "Um, well, young lady, this meat..."

Meat? Fan Xiaoxiao's gaze fell on the half of beef. She then realized that Xiao Hei had actually bought half of the cow from the market!

"Could you please prepare this for me, madam?" Xiao Hei smiled even more shyly when he saw Fan Xiaoxiao looking down at the meat.

Upon hearing this, Fan Xiaoxiao's lips twitched involuntarily. This amount of meat was more than enough for him and Boss Ye, and even if all of them ate it, they probably couldn't finish it. She pointed uncertainly at the pile of meat and asked Xiao Hei, "Do I need to cook it all?"

"Ah, this lady is fine as long as she looks good. The owner is about to close up shop, but the beef on his stall looks pretty good, so I bought it all."

Madam Fan gasped, staring in disbelief at the half-eaten beef: "This...this must cost a fortune! And there's more than enough for just the two of you!"

Xiao Hei was slightly taken aback. He looked at the cow and then at Fan Shi, and then realized that she had misunderstood that he had bought the cow for both him and his master: "This cow was bought for everyone to eat together. After all, it was my own idea to trouble you, young lady. Consider the extra beef as payment."

Madam Fan opened her mouth, as if to say something. But Xiao Hei waved his hand at her first: "Madam, don't be so polite with me. We have big appetites, and we can probably eat quite a lot too!"

Although that's what he said, even if two men can eat a lot, they can't possibly eat that much beef!

The rest was left to Fan Xiaoxiao to handle. My goodness, what a kind person she was! Fan Xiaoxiao looked at Xiao Hei with some emotion, and her determination to travel with them became even stronger.

"Alright! Since you're so generous, young hero, I won't stand on ceremony!" Fan Xiaoxiao handed the skewers to Fan Shi, picked up the kitchen knife beside her, rolled up her sleeves, and walked towards the beef.

Xiao Hei, somewhat curious, squatted down next to Xiao Bao and watched their movements. He glanced at the little dumpling, who seemed to be looking at him, scratched his head, and then magically pulled out a bag of candy from his pocket, opened it, and handed it to Xiao Bao.

"Here, little one, do you want some? This is sweet and delicious."

Xiao Bao's eyes lit up slightly. He turned to ask Madam Fan for permission, and after receiving her consent, he carefully picked out a candy from the pile and put it in his mouth.

"How is it? Is it sweet?"

"Mmm! Sweet!" Xiao Bao nodded emphatically, his little eyes curving into crescent moons.

Xiao Hei smiled slightly and handed the candy packet in his hand to Xiao Bao again.

If you think it's sweet, then eat more.

"Hmm... well, I'll just take one more then." Xiao Bao picked out another candy a little shyly, but this time he didn't rush to put it in his mouth. Instead, as if he'd thought of something, he said to Xiao Hei, "Brother, wait here for a little while, okay?"

After saying that, Xiao Bao ran towards the backyard with the candy in his hand. Xiao Hei followed him curiously. When they got to the backyard, they found that Master Lu was there with Xiao Yu, watching over the medicine.

"Sister Xiaoyu!"

Xiao Bao's shout startled Xiao Yu slightly. Turning her head, she saw that the other person seemed to be holding something in his hand as he ran towards them.

She frowned slightly and turned her head away, not wanting to pay him any attention.

"Sister Xiaoyu, look what this is!" Xiaoyu's indifference did not diminish Xiaobao's enthusiasm at all. The little guy was still as happy as ever, holding up the candy and handing it to Xiaoyu.

"Look! Candy!"

Xiaoyu, who couldn't speak, glanced at him and then turned her head away. Xiaobao followed her with a pitiful look on his face, shoving the candy into her hand and saying, "This is for Sister Xiaoyu. Please don't be angry, okay?"

Xiaoyu frowned, glared at him, and raised her hand as if to throw away the candy. Master Lu grabbed her hand, his voice slightly stern as he said, "Xiaoyu!"

Master Lu's words successfully made Xiaoyu stop what she was doing. Xiaobao pouted sadly, his little head drooping: "Sister Xiaoyu, medicine is very bitter, please don't throw away the candy, okay?"

"Hmph." Seeing Xiao Bao's pitiful appearance, Xiao Yu ultimately didn't throw the candy away, but she still didn't really want to talk to Xiao Bao.

This made Xiao Bao a little discouraged, so he had to leave the backyard and return to the well to watch his mother and aunt busy processing the beef.

Xiao Hei walked over, patted Xiao Bao's head, and said, "So you were saving this candy for Xiao Yu? How about it? Do you still want some candy?"

"No, Mom said that candy is expensive. Big brother, you've already treated everyone to beef, so Xiaobao can't always take your things."

Hearing Xiao Bao's words, Xiao Hei raised an eyebrow. "Wow, this little guy is really well-educated." Since the little guy really didn't want the candy, he'd enjoy it himself.

He lifted his shirt and squatted down next to Xiao Bao, casually popping some food into his mouth. Xiao Bao glanced at him but didn't say anything.

"Little guy, why are you going northeast?" Xiao Hei asked Xiao Bao seemingly casually.

The little guy didn't think much of it. He sighed and said, "Grandpa appeared in Auntie's dream and said it's safe to go somewhere."

"Safe?" Xiao Bao's words made Xiao Hei pause slightly. He frowned, puzzled, and continued to ask, "Why do you say that place is safe? Aren't other places safe?"

Xiao Hei's question was beyond Xiao Bao's understanding. The little guy shook his head and said that the outsider had appeared in his dream and said that there was a great disaster and that they should go to the Northeast to take refuge.

"The Northeast... what's in the Northeast?" Xiao Hei thought for a long time but couldn't recall anything different about that place. Just as he was about to ask Xiao Bao some more questions, he heard the old ghost doctor coming out of the thatched hut, cursing and swearing.

He subconsciously stood up and wanted to go over, but before he could take two steps, he heard the old man yell towards Fan Xiaoxiao and the others.

"Baby! Can we have dinner yet? I'm starving!"
