Chapter 134

Chapter 134

It was two days after that night that I met up with the Fan family.

Fan Xiaoxiao originally thought that the men in black were only after her, but she never expected that the Fan family would also be implicated.

"Sister..." Fan Xiaoxiao's hands trembled uncontrollably. She wanted to check how badly Fan Shi was injured, but she didn't dare to touch her bloodied back.

The man in front of her, surnamed Fan, grinned at Fan Xiaoxiao. Sweat soaked her hair and clung to her face, making her complexion appear even paler.

"Sister, you're alright. That's great, you're alright. Godfather and Mr. Lu, quick, go check on them. They're in much worse shape than I am!"

Upon hearing this, Fan Xiaoxiao felt a lump in her throat, and her hands trembled even more violently.

Seeing that she didn't move, Madam Fan urged her again, "Go, take the old man over and get them to take a look! I'm fine, just some minor cuts and bruises!"

Go!

Fan Xiaoxiao gritted her teeth, lifted the curtain, and went out. After telling the Ghost Doctor about the situation, she also went to the carriage in the back.

Uncle Wang and Grandpa Lu were covered in wounds and had fallen unconscious. Looking at their injuries, Fan Xiaoxiao finally understood why Madam Fan had claimed to have only suffered superficial wounds. Their shoulders were hacked open, revealing the white bone beneath.

Fortunately, their wounds seemed to have been roughly smeared with some kind of medicinal powder, which saved them from dying from excessive blood loss.

Even so, their wounds still looked quite gruesome. Fan Xiaoxiao felt a tightness in her throat, and the Ghost Doctor beside her didn't look too good either.

“They’re both badly injured. Girl, go boil some hot water! Little White Flower, you two go find a long table in the village, the kind they can lie down at.”

"good!"

Without the slightest hesitation, Fan Xiaoxiao limped back to her room and started boiling water. The still-intact Xiao Hei and Bai Hua quickly slipped into the village and, in no time at all, pushed all the tables together, just enough for Uncle Wang and Grandpa Lu to lie down.

However, the table was too big, so it had to be placed in the courtyard. The Ghost Doctor asked Bai Hua to find a piece of specially made oil paper from his basket and temporarily set up a frame to cover the table that had been pieced together.

Fan Xiaoxiao laboriously carried bucket after bucket of hot water to the outside of the makeshift shed. Just as she was about to leave, the Ghost Doctor called out to her.

"Baby, this is a medicine I've prepared to wash wounds. If your sister's wound becomes infected, wash it with this until it turns white, then apply the wound medicine I gave you."

The Ghost Doctor handed Fan Xiaoxiao a water pouch tied with a black rope, instructing her to use it to clean Fan Shi's wounds. Fan Xiaoxiao opened it and smelled it; it had a somewhat pungent herbal odor.

After putting away the medicine, Fan Xiaoxiao thanked the Ghost Doctor.

The other person waved his hand, frowned, and sighed, "You go quickly, I'll go and heal them both first."

After saying that, he took a bundle and went under the cover of the oil paper to treat Uncle Wang and Grandpa Lu's wounds.

Fan Xiaoxiao gripped the water pouch tightly, pursed her lips, and walked towards the carriage.

"Auntie..." Xiao Bao called out to Fan Xiaoxiao in a very soft voice as Wang Da Niang pulled him along.

Xiao Yu, standing to the side, also had a blank expression, her clear black and white eyes fixed on Fan Xiaoxiao.

Aunt Wang, who was leading the two people, hesitated for a moment, but in the end, she couldn't say anything.

Fan Xiaoxiao nodded slightly to them and climbed into the carriage without hesitation.

"Grandma..." Xiao Bao seemed to choke up, his voice trembling slightly.

Aunt Wang sighed, her voice trembling, "It's alright, it's alright... Xiaoyu, your grandfather will be alright too, everything will be alright..."

Fan Xiaoxiao listened to the commotion outside the carriage, her lips pressed tightly into a straight line.

"Ahem, little sister. Has the old man gone to Godfather and Mr. Lu's place yet?"

Fan Xiaoxiao knelt down beside Fan Shi and carefully peeled away the dirty clothes that were almost fused with her skin and flesh at the wound site.

"Yes, I've gone. Don't worry, sister."

"Hiss." Fan was in pain from her movement and gritted her teeth to keep from screaming.

After the clothing and skin were separated, an inflamed and festering wound was revealed.

"It might hurt a little, sister, please bear with it."

Madam Fan nodded, but when Fan Xiaoxiao poured the medicine onto her wound, she almost fainted from the pain.

Although her wound wasn't deep, it covered a large area. Fan Xiaoxiao used an entire water bag to clean it.

Then came the application of medicine and bandaging.

After tidying everything up, Fan Xiaoxiao opened the car window and let Fan Shi lie down in a well-ventilated spot.

"Auntie..."

Seeing Fan Xiaoxiao get off the carriage, Xiaobao finally couldn't hold back anymore, and buried his head in her arms, nuzzling her while trying to hold back his tears.

After being away for two days, Xiao Bao looked completely disheveled, unlike the neatly dressed little dumpling he used to be.

Her clothes were half-draped and half-hanging, and she had lost one shoe. Her hair was a mess, loosely tied back with two hair ties. She was covered in dust, and her face was filthy.

Fan Xiaoxiao felt extremely distressed and reached out to straighten his clothes, only to find that there were still dried bloodstains on the little dumpling's outer garment.

She looked up at Granny Wang and Xiaoyu, who also looked utterly miserable.

Why is it so difficult for ordinary people to live a good life in this world?

Fan Xiaoxiao patted Xiaobao's hair, stood up, and led the three of them toward the house that had been cleaned up a couple of days ago.

"Girl, you take the two little ones first. I..." Aunt Wang didn't move, but gestured for Xiaoyu to follow Fan Xiaoxiao, while her eyes kept looking worriedly towards Uncle Wang and the others.

Xiaoyu glanced at Fan Xiaoxiao and tugged at her, indicating that she wanted to stay as well.

"Auntie, I'm not leaving either. I want to stay here with Mom, Grandma, and my sister." Xiao Bao wiped his eyes, which were about to burst into tears, and looked up, unwilling to leave the carriage.

The three insisted on not following her to the house, and Fan Xiaoxiao did not force them, only saying that she would wait for her here for a while.

She turned around and went to the other side of the house to fetch a bucket of water. She rolled up her sleeves and carefully wiped the dirt off Xiaoyu and Xiaobao's faces and hands.

While wiping Xiaoyu's feet, they discovered that the child's feet were covered in tiny cuts and scratches. It turned out that her shoes had also been lost during the escape.

Fan Xiaoxiao silently applied some wound medicine to both children, but after applying it to their wounds, all the medicine powder was used up.

Her eyes swept over Granny Wang's hand, where there was also an injury.

Noticing her gaze, Aunt Wang calmly put her hands behind her back.

Fan Xiaoxiao sighed and took out some ordinary medicinal powder that she had bought before to apply to Granny Wang.

"Auntie, after we left, did you also encounter men in black chasing you?"

When she started talking about what had happened a couple of days ago, Wang Da Niang's expression changed slightly.

It turned out that after they left that day, a small group of men in black had been watching them. It was only thanks to Master Lu and his companions' desperate resistance that the men in black managed to prevent them from breaking into the carriage.

However, Uncle Wang and Grandpa Lu were not skilled in martial arts. After they were injured, it was Fan who took a wood-chopping knife and stood in front of them, cutting down the black-clad man who had almost killed the children.

"What about those men in black?" Fan Xiaoxiao frowned, feeling uneasy.

"Most of them died, but they still managed to get two away."

"!!"
