Chapter 58 Lost Something

Chapter 58 Lost Something

Next to the Linjiang Tower, Sun, the rice seller, was counting his goods when suddenly someone patted him on the back.

"Hey! Old Sun! How's business today?"

This startled Manager Sun so much that he almost dropped his abacus. He turned around and saw that Young Master Ji from next door was smiling at him.

Shopkeeper Sun felt a headache coming on just looking at his chuckling face. He rolled his eyes at him and said irritably, "So it's you, kid. What do you want?"

"Tsk! What are you saying? Of course I came to you to buy things! Look, I've brought you a customer!"

After saying that, Ji Yushu stepped aside, and only then did Manager Sun notice Fan Xiaoxiao and the others standing behind him.

"Huh? You guys? I remember you seem to be the ones who sell braised pork offal..."

"The Fan family."

"Yes, the Fan family. What would you like to buy?"

Fan Xiaoxiao looked into the shop from the entrance. Although the shop was small, it seemed to have a fairly complete selection of goods. So she asked Manager Sun, "Do you have any glutinous rice here?"

"Sticky rice?"

Shopkeeper Sun was taken aback, then looked Fan Xiaoxiao and the others up and down. When his gaze fell on their patched clothes, he frowned slightly, then asked again, "This glutinous rice costs thirty coins a pound! That's equivalent to a lot of coarse grains and beans! Young lady, are you sure you want glutinous rice?"

Fan Xiaoxiao nodded: "Excuse me, shopkeeper, I'd like a pound of glutinous rice. Also, do you sell yeast for rice wine?"

"Well, I have some for my own use. Since you want some, I'll give you some."

"In that case, thank you very much, shopkeeper!"

Shopkeeper Sun waved his hand and turned to instruct his assistant to weigh out the glutinous rice for Fan Xiaoxiao. Soon, everything was packed. Shopkeeper Sun carried the package over, looked at Fan Xiaoxiao, opened his mouth to speak, then looked at Granny Wang hesitantly and said, "This costs thirty coins! That's enough to buy ten catties of coarse flour!"

Aunt Wang and Fan Xiaoxiao were both amused and exasperated. Manager Sun was an honest businessman; he must have noticed that their clothes were "too simple" to remind them, which was why he kept reminding them.

Fan Xiaoxiao smiled and took out thirty coins from her sleeve pocket, then stepped forward and handed them to Manager Sun.

"Thank you, shopkeeper!"

After saying that, she took the glutinous rice and yeast from Manager Sun and left the shop.

Ji Yushu smiled at Fan Xiaoxiao and the others: "Old Sun is just the kind of person who likes to meddle in other people's business, please don't take offense!"

Madam Fan glanced back at the shop's signboard, which simply read "Grain Shop." She couldn't help but smile and said, "The owner is thinking of us. You can tell from the name that he's a kind-hearted person."

"Haha, yeah."

The group chatted and laughed for a few moments when Manager Ji ran over.

"Ha! Ha! My lord!"

"Manager Ji? What happened to you? You're out of breath."

Steward Ji, leaning on his knees, was panting heavily. He didn't even bother to answer Granny Wang's question. Seeing Steward Ji's condition, Ji Yushu asked anxiously, "What's wrong? Tell me!"

"Ha! Young master, Zhu Er is back at the docks! He seems to have lost something and is questioning the villagers there!"

Upon hearing that Zhu Er had returned to the dock, Ji Yushu frowned slightly: "Things? Did he say he lost anything?"

"It seems...it seems to be a walnut!"

"belch!"
