When this thought came to mind, Jiang Ersao felt as if there was something on her shoulder.
She tilted her head and looked over, and when she saw the furry paws, her whole body trembled uncontrollably.
Jiang Yonghai also saw the claws, and the quiet night was instantly filled with the smell of urine.
"A ghost!"
The couple spoke in unison and ran away.
Jiang Ersao was timid and grabbed her husband's arm, but Jiang Yonghai shook her off and ran away.
Looking at the person lying on the ground, Gu An'an couldn't help but shake her head, "Husbands and wives are like birds in the same forest; when disaster strikes, they fly away separately."
The old saying is truly true.
She whistled, and the owner of the furry paws immediately leaped into the yard.
Gu An'an smiled and climbed down the ladder. As for the firewood, she could clean it up tomorrow morning.
These two are like angels; knowing she had no firewood when she came back, they acted as kind-hearted people late at night.
What a kind person.
The little tiger watched the person slowly descending the ladder, and rubbed its big head against Gu An'an's legs to show its friendliness.
"I saved you a bowl of meat, let's go eat some meat."
She didn't know why, but the little guy seemed to really like eating the meat she cooked.
When Gu An'an returned, she brought some braised pig's trotters with her, specifically for the wild beasts in the mountains to eat.
The oil lamp in the kitchen wasn't very bright. After the little tiger lying on the ground had finished gnawing the whole pig's trotter clean, it stretched out its front paws with great satisfaction and looked up at Gu An'an sitting there.
Its big, blinking eyes are quite similar to the stray cats that Gu An'an feeds at school.
"Alright, now that you've eaten, go to sleep. While you're at it, keep an eye on the house. If anyone comes to cause trouble again, just scare them away. Don't use your hands or mouth, understand?"
The little tiger nodded seriously, then, carrying the pig bone in its mouth, headed towards the woodshed, where its den was.
With such a fierce beast guarding the house, Gu An'an felt exceptionally at ease and fell asleep shortly after lying down on the bed.
When I woke up, I heard giggling in the yard.
"Itchy, Little Axe, you're so chubby."
Gu An'an went out and, sure enough, saw Bao'er squatting there, her little hands outstretched, letting the little tiger lick them.
A tiger's tongue is covered with barbs. Young tigers are better off, as the barbs are softer. But if an adult tiger were to become aggressive, it could easily tear your hand apart, leaving it covered in blood.
Upon seeing Gu An'an arrive, the little guy, who had been playing with Bao'er, immediately abandoned his playmate and came over to rub against Gu An'an.
This left the little girl completely bewildered, wondering why she had been abandoned.
But it quickly ran back and started playing with the tiger's tail.
Seeing that the human and the beast were having a great time, Gu An'an gave them a few instructions and then went to make breakfast.
Fortunately, I brought some rice with me when I came back, so making some porridge shouldn't be a problem.
However, Gu An'an was eating breakfast when Aunt Li came over.
"I knew it, that couple just suddenly went crazy for no reason."
When she arrived, she saw the firewood outside Gu An'an's house and knew what it was all about without even thinking.
No wonder I vaguely heard someone shouting things like "ghost!" and "help!" last night. Sure enough, it was this couple causing trouble.
"What's wrong?"
Aunt Li stomped her feet angrily, "Did your in-laws come to your house last night? Look at all that firewood outside the door. I was wondering how a perfectly normal person could go crazy from seeing ghosts. If you haven't done anything wrong, why are you afraid of ghosts knocking on your door?"
Fortunately, the villagers were talking about it, saying that they shouldn't walk at night recently.
What's there to be afraid of walking alone at night? What's frightening is the human heart.
"I don't know," Gu An'an said, pretending to know nothing. "I went to sleep after putting the child to bed yesterday. Did something happen over there?"
Aunt Li found this somewhat strange and began to discuss it with Gu An'an, finally asking, "You really don't know?"
Gu An'an shook her head. "I'm a heavy sleeper at night, and I'm usually not woken up by any noise. Could it be that my husband is watching over us from heaven?"
Perhaps that's the case?
Aunt Li couldn't say for sure either.
However, this time Jiang Lao Er and his wife were in the wrong, so even though Jiang Lao Tai knew that she couldn't escape the connection with this youngest daughter-in-law, she didn't come here to make a scene.
Just then, Aunt Li came over, and Gu An'an entrusted the two children to Aunt Li while she took Jiang Mingyi and Jiang Mingzhu up the mountain to hunt.
"By the way, Xiao Gu, be careful when you go up the mountain. The villagers went up the mountain a few days ago and said they saw a tiger. It's true, we've never heard of tigers on the mountain before."
Gu An'an felt embarrassed upon hearing this. Not only are there tigers on the mountain, but there's also a tiger lurking in the woodshed behind Aunt Li.
However, she didn't say it, because if she spoke out about it, she would either be arrested and investigated, or be constantly gossiped about by the villagers.
Gu An'an didn't want to become the center of attention.
It's better to keep a low profile.
Little Jiang Baozhu, however, was reluctant to leave, saying, "Mom, I want to stay home and play with Xiao Fufu."
Jiang Mingxu, who was slightly older, immediately covered his little sister's mouth.
This action puzzled Aunt Li. "What's wrong?" she asked.
"It's okay." Jiang Mingxu limped and pulled his sister into the house, lowering his voice to instruct, "Don't let anyone know you have Little Axe, otherwise Little Axe won't play with you anymore."
Bao'er panicked upon hearing this, "Then brother, are you even human?"
Jiang Mingxu's face darkened upon hearing this. "Am I not human, or am I a god?"
