Chapter 73 They are not worthy

Gu An'an ignored it and continued with her own business, seemingly oblivious to the awkward situation in the courtyard.

After using up the prepared egg mixture, Gu An'an tidied up the mess in the yard and went to the kitchen. As if only then remembering that Lin Zixing was still there, she asked with a puzzled look, "Could it be that Young Master Lin really doesn't intend to pay?"

Lin Zixing's expression was not good. "I didn't come here to ask for scar cream."

Gu An'an breathed a sigh of relief. "That would be perfect. I'm too busy to entertain Young Master Lin. Please make yourselves at home."

This blunt dismissal made Lin Zixing's smile vanish. He looked at the petite woman heading towards the kitchen and said, "Madam Gu, I saw someone enter your house just now."

“Aren’t those two gentlemen?” Gu An’an went straight inside. “My widow’s house is always full of trouble. Please, gentlemen, don’t cause me any more trouble.”

The person who had reached the kitchen door suddenly turned around, a hint of mockery in their eyes, "Otherwise, I would have thought that Young Master Lin was planning to marry me."

Marry her?

Lin Zixing may not like the arrogant noble ladies in the capital, but that doesn't necessarily mean he would marry a young widow as the matriarch of his Lin family.

If this gets out, wouldn't we become a laughing stock?

"Perhaps I'm seeing things, but this horse belonging to Madam Gu's family is quite nice; it looks like a warhorse."

Lin Zixing walked towards the stables, his pace slowing down deliberately.

However, there was no sound coming from the kitchen. When Lin Zixing walked to the stable, he looked back and saw that there was no one else in the courtyard except for the young master of the Pingyuan Marquis's mansion.

Really not?

The stable wasn't big, and the horses tied up inside were eating hay.

Lin Zixing grabbed a handful of hay and threw it into the manger, saying, "Sorry to bother you."

In the kitchen.

Jiang Mingzhu was still somewhat apprehensive.

She always felt that this young master Lin seemed to have ulterior motives in his words and actions, which made her feel very uncomfortable.

You went to the stables to find the little tiger, right?

"Pearl, you put too much meat filling on it."

Jiang Mingzhu suddenly came to her senses and realized that she had spread a thick layer of meat filling on the egg skin. Looking at her mother, she saw a thin layer rolled up, the golden egg skin wrapped around the meat filling and rolled into a long strip, looking as beautiful as could be.

"Just a thin layer is enough; we only want the flavor of egg spring rolls."

Jiang Mingzhu scraped off the meat filling and started working on it again.

When she finished rolling up the eggshell, her forehead beaded with sweat, she realized that her mother had gone out sometime earlier.

The outer door was closed, and the little tiger that had been hiding in the west room's stable was now lying on the ground whimpering, with an arrowhead still lodged in its belly.

"Aren't you the king of the mountains? How come you can't even handle a few people?"

The little tiger whimpered and complained, feeling wronged because those people were bullying a minor like it.

Gu An'an dug out the arrowhead, which was covered in flesh and blood. Even though she used some herbs to stuff the wound, the smell of blood still lingered.

"Alright, that guy has discovered your trail too."

The injured tiger's steps were heavy, and the claw marks on the ground, combined with the smell of blood, could not be concealed even by the strong odor from the stables.

Lin Zixing had clearly discovered something but didn't make it public, obviously with ulterior motives.

What exactly were they thinking?

Gu An'an remembered the little note that she had torn up earlier.

She did find Jiang Mingyi's headache strange and wanted to know who the child's mother was.

However, getting the details from Doctor Tian and getting information from Lin Zixing are two completely different things.

But now that Lin Zixing has left her room to maneuver, if she continues to avoid him, who knows what that man will do next?

I think I should go out for a trip.

"Once these egg spring rolls are ready, we need to send some to Aunt Li and your grandmother."

Jiang Mingzhu was taken aback for a moment, then quickly nodded, "Yes, it's impolite of me to be impolite."

But then I'll have to see that Young Master Lin again, which is a real headache.

However, by the time Gu An'an had a chance to go there, it was already late afternoon. She and Jiang Mingzhu split up, with Jiang Mingzhu going to Aunt Li's house next door, while Gu An'an took a plate of steamed spring rolls to the Jiang family's old residence.

If it weren't for needing an excuse to negotiate with Lin Zixing, Gu An'an wouldn't have bothered sending these things.

To her, filial piety was like toilet paper; if Gu An'an didn't agree with it, what could anyone do about it?

Before she could even turn the corner, she heard Sister-in-law Jiang's exasperated voice: "That Young Master Lin, and that Young Master Ning, aren't they both handsome and talented? I brought you back so you could find a way to get close to these two gentlemen, but you're really hopeless. You can't even get a word in edgewise with either of them. Where did your usual cleverness go?"

Jiang Qiaoqiao's voice was full of grievance, "How can you blame me? I get scared whenever that young master Lin smiles at me, and that young man always has a cold face. Didn't you say they would leave in a few days? Why did they leave so soon?"

They've left?

Why did he leave in such a hurry? Gu An'an also found it strange. Lin Zixing had been looking for trouble at her house earlier, so why did he just leave like that?

"If I could control them, I'd make them marry you properly in a grand wedding procession." Jiang's sister-in-law glared at her daughter angrily. "I heard there's going to be another war, so Young Master Lin left. But don't worry, I have something here that I've saved especially for you."

She only has one daughter, and no matter how difficult it is, she wants to save the best things for her daughter.

"What's this?"

Sister-in-law Jiang said with a hint of pride, "My mother saved someone before, and he said that as long as I bring this to him, he will grant me one request."

It was worth it for her to go up the mountain every day to deliver food to people.

Jiang's sister-in-law stuffed the wooden plaque into her daughter's hand, saying, "After the New Year, when I go to your maternal grandfather's house to cancel your engagement, I'll find a way to get your father to send you to Anzhou Prefecture."

Jiang Qiaoqiao looked embarrassed. "Mom, how can you do this?"

"What else? Do you want to be like that girl Cui Cui, marry a blacksmith, and live a miserable life forever?"

The mother and daughter whispered to each other again, but Gu An'an was not in the mood to listen anymore.

Missing out on Lin Zixing like this was quite unexpected, but it did save some trouble.

She couldn't figure out what Lin Zixing was thinking, and if possible, she really didn't want to deal with this person.

But was the person Jiang Dasao saved the same man in black she met on the mountain?

Who exactly was that man in black, and why did he suddenly appear in Jiangjia Village? This reminded Gu An'an of a scene from a martial arts novel, except that the injured one was a prince from another tribe, and lust at first sight became the starting point of the story.

That's clearly not me.

However, since she had chosen not to be a good Samaritan in the first place, Gu An'an didn't reconsider this matter.

She left with the spring rolls, not wanting to waste them on the people at the Jiang family's old house.

They don't deserve to eat this good stuff!
