Chapter 10 Gu An'an's Poisonous Oath

The Jiang family courtyard was bustling with activity.

Many villagers came to see what was happening after hearing the noise.

No one expected that the one who had been wailing in pain earlier was actually Old Lady Jiang!

This old woman has always been domineering, and no one can take advantage of her in the slightest. The villagers are not very knowledgeable and have never heard her howl like that before.

I saw it all today. Look at those swollen hands, and then look at the freckles and bloodstains on Jiang Lao Er's face.

Who wouldn't get goosebumps seeing this, yet still want to keep watching the spectacle?

It's Grandma Jiang who's making a fool of herself.

Don't miss it if you're passing by!

Even Gu An'an, who usually had a vicious stepmother's face, looked much more refined and pretty.

Jiang Lao Er's wife was so angry she felt like her lungs were about to explode. "Gu An'an, you did this on purpose, didn't you?"

"Second sister-in-law, how could you accuse me like this? Just because I disagreed with your offer to take Zhu'er away and sell her to a wealthy man in the county as a maid, you're slandering me and ruining my reputation in front of everyone?"

Gu An'an covered her face and forced out two tears.

The villagers stared wide-eyed: Does Gu An'an have any reputation?

Jiang Lao Er's wife never expected her brother's wife to be so unreasonable, insisting on bringing up other things. "Don't talk nonsense. When did I ever say such a thing? Everyone in the village knows that you beat and scold Er Ya Tou all the time. You're like a wasp with a sting!"

These words immediately made the villagers look at Gu An'an with some hostility, and rightly so.

Jiang Laosan's wife constantly beats and scolds her children; she's definitely a typical stepmother.

Seeing the villagers gossiping, Jiang Lao Er's family felt more confident. "Let's let Zhu'er speak."

Half of her face was swollen, but those who hadn't looked in a mirror wouldn't know how utterly unsightly she looked. Her attempts to project a kind expression appeared utterly repulsive to Jiang Mingzhu.

Unfortunately, she was ugly but unaware of it. "Pearl, speak boldly, and everyone will take care of everything for you."

Gu An'an has never been good to these children. The reason she almost lost her life after falling into the water was because of that brat Jiang Mingzhu.

Now that she had such a good opportunity, she didn't believe Jiang Mingzhu would miss it. After getting rid of Gu An'an, she would sell all these girls and boys.

Who can control her now?

For a time, Jiang Mingzhu became the focus of everyone's attention in Jiangjia Village, with everyone looking at this young girl.

Jiang Mingzhu's palms were slightly sweaty as she slowly shifted her gaze to the woman—

Gu An'an stood there, with a few golden cherry blossoms still hanging on her clothes.

The woman said that these rose hips could fetch a good price, and they could have a nice meal that night.

I don't know if it's true or not.

But her second aunt wanted to sell her, and her grandmother also came with ill intentions. These are all true facts.

“My second aunt said she wanted to sell me and take all the money, not giving my mother a single penny.”

Jiang Lao Er's family immediately retorted, "Nonsense! I clearly said half for each of us!"

After she finished speaking, she realized something was wrong, and the villagers who had been watching the commotion also realized what was going on. "Jiang Lao Er's wife, why don't you sell your daughter?"

"Have you no shame? Aren't you afraid that Jiang Laosan will come after you later?"

Jiang Lao Er's wife was tricked, and she felt a burning pain on her face.

She glared fiercely at Jiang Mingzhu, "Don't come begging to me for help if you starve to death or get beaten to death later!"

“Zhu’er is my precious daughter. I love her too much to bear. Hit her? Second sister-in-law, you’re used to hitting your children at home. You’re just being petty.”

That sounds too high-sounding; how many people would believe it?

Who in Jiangjia Village doesn't know that Gu An'an often beats and scolds these children?

The snickers from the crowd made Gu An'an feel a little guilty, but when she thought that it was all the original owner's evil deeds, she became righteous again. What did it have to do with her?

"The old Gu An'an is dead. Today, everyone will bear witness that from now on, I will love and care for these children as my own. If I ever beat, scold, or humiliate them again, may I, Gu An'an, be struck by lightning and die a horrible death, and be condemned to the eighteenth level of hell for eternity!"

The curse left the villagers wide-eyed.

Everyone is very superstitious, and when such a vicious curse is uttered, one can't help but feel sorry for Gu An'an.

She was not even fifteen when she married into the family, and a few days later she was kicked out of the Jiang family's old house by Old Madam Jiang. She then had to raise her children and make a living here.

Although she was said to be marrying Jiang Laosan, she was essentially living a life of widowhood, since everyone said that Jiang Laosan had disappeared without a trace and had long since died.

Being abandoned by both her husband's and her own families, Gu An'an's life has been tough.

Now that she dares to make such a vicious oath, it seems that Gu An'an intends to start a new life.

Let's just wait and see how things develop. What else can these outsiders do?

The villagers who had come to watch the commotion all left, while Old Lady Jiang, who had suffered a loss in silence with her younger daughter-in-law, gave her a cold look, then limped away, clutching her buttocks with her second daughter-in-law's arm.

We can deal with that little bitch another time!

After seeing the group off, Gu An'an breathed a sigh of relief.

Seeing Bao'er timidly tugging at her sister's sleeve, she picked up the little girl and said, "Bao'er, are you scared? Don't be afraid, let's go inside, it's cold outside."

She was holding one child in her arms and leading the youngest of the Jiang family by the hand with her right hand, leaving the two older children staring at each other in the courtyard.

Jiang Mingyi still harbored some doubts—

Is what this woman is saying true?

However, what he said was to comfort his younger sister, "Don't be afraid, even if the sky falls, your brother is here for you."

Jiang Mingzhu nodded. She had to make a choice today. If that woman broke her vow today, then she shouldn't blame her for defying her superior.
