Chapter 11 Five Taels of Silver in Hand

After giving the little cub a good rub, Gu An'an was very satisfied, and they arrived at the county town just in time.

After asking around, Gu An'an went straight to the pharmacy.

The clerk at the pharmacy saw a young woman approaching with a child and quickly greeted her, "Madam, what brings you here...?"

Gu An'an placed the bamboo basket on the counter. "I've picked some herbs. Will you buy them?"

The shop assistant was taken aback when he saw what was in the box. "What is this?" He had been an apprentice at the pharmacy for a year and a half and had never seen this herb before.

"Rosa laevigata." Gu An'an laughed. "It's normal that you haven't seen it before. Why don't you ask a doctor to come and take a look?"

The waiter took a good look at Gu An'an. He saw that the woman was dressed fairly cleanly and neatly, with a very pretty face and a smiling face that was not unpleasant to look at.

"Please wait a moment, madam."

Not long after, a middle-aged man with a goatee came out and narrowed his eyes when he saw Gu An'an.

The tall, thin man stood behind the counter, picked up a rosehip, and examined it closely. "You know medicine?"

Gu An'an smiled neither humbly nor arrogantly, "I know a little bit."

The middle-aged man glanced at it and said, "Two taels of silver."

This price isn't high, considering Viagra is a best-selling drug, and it's still a popular choice even now.

Gu An'an immediately raised the price, "Five taels."

This left the guy standing nearby dumbfounded. What kind of medicine could be so valuable!

The man stared intently at Gu An'an, "Young lady, this price is a bit too expensive."

Gu An'an smiled brightly, "You're an expert, of course you know how effective this treatment is. If it can cure even one important person, you'll definitely be paid handsomely."

That makes perfect sense, "If you come across any good herbs in the future, we hope you can send them to our pharmacy first, and we can discuss the price then."

With five taels of silver in hand, Gu An'an was overjoyed. She was right to have studied biology back then. "No problem, no problem."

Watching Gu An'an walk away, the shop assistant couldn't help but ask, "Shopkeeper, what kind of medicine is this that costs so much money?"

The middle-aged man grinned, and after a long pause, he said, "It's medicine to cure a nobleman's illness." It's not convenient to talk about urological ailments, but once cured, a reward of gold and silver is certainly expected.

He had only seen it in an ancient medical book. How could this young lady know so much about the medicinal properties of the rosehip?

"Go and follow her, see where she goes."
