Chapter 63 Fly Forest Walk

Gu An'an had no idea that Tian Bu'er would be so foolish. She left the courtyard and headed straight for Taibai Restaurant.

The restaurant had just opened, and the waiters were busy wiping the tables.

Seeing someone come in, he quickly greeted her, "Madam, it's not lunchtime yet."

"I know, I was here yesterday. Could you please tell the shopkeeper that I brought him some fermented pork?"

The waiter laughed when he heard this. This was a restaurant; why would they need outsiders to send them fermented pork?

Besides, if the meat is marinated in wine, can that meat still be eaten?

"Go find the shopkeeper. Can you afford to compensate him for missing out on making money?"

The sudden harsh tone made the waiter's heart tremble, and his eyes looked at Gu An'an with a hint of fear.

This woman looks so much like the angry shopkeeper.

Manager Lin of Taibai Restaurant was practicing Tai Chi in the backyard when he heard the waiter mention fermented pork. He grabbed a long robe from the side and draped it over himself. "Did Madam Gu come alone?"

The waiter thought for a moment, "She came alone, carrying a ceramic jar."

What jar? That's a treasure!

As they walked forward, Manager Lin suddenly remembered something. "Let's see what's in the kitchen and bring over some pastries first."

The waiter was dumbfounded. What was this fermented pork that the shopkeeper valued it so much?

As the waiter brought over several plates of pastries, he couldn't help but widen his eyes and stare intently at the shopkeeper who was enjoying the food.

This meat is really well cooked—

Its color is as bright as agate, yet it is also crystal clear.

The aroma of meat mingled with a subtle fragrance of wine, making one's mouth water.

"The meat is a little cold; it would taste better if it were eaten fresh out of the pot."

Manager Lin could certainly tell the difference, but even so, it was still enough to amaze people's taste buds.

It melts in your mouth, smooth and not greasy, with a perfect balance of sweet and sour, leaving a lingering fragrance on your lips and teeth.

It's absolutely delicious.

"It might be a bit abrupt to mention the price. I wonder what you think would be a suitable amount, Madam Gu?"

Manager Lin isn't stupid; it's better to be direct than to beat around the bush.

Gu An'an laughed, "I originally thought Manager Lin would make me redo it."

"If that's the case, then that would be perfect."

He simply felt that integrity was paramount in business, after all, this wasn't a one-off transaction.

Who knows, this Lady Gu might come up with something even more amazing in the future.

"One hundred taels of silver." Gu An'an thought about this price for a long time. "It's a fixed price. If there's anything good in the future, I'll send it to Manager Lin again."

The price is neither high nor low. If we don't sell this order, how can we have future cooperation?

Gu An'an had no intention of becoming the richest person in the world; she was content with having enough money to live a comfortable life.

Shopkeeper Lin was taken aback by the price, but quickly agreed, "Okay."

Taibai Restaurant has many branches throughout Daye County, but business in Anping County isn't very good. It's not that the restaurant is poorly managed; it's just that business isn't that easy in a small county. This isn't a prefecture or the capital.

If this fermented pork can attract diners, it might improve the business of the Taibai branch in Anping County.

Being a businessman, Manager Lin readily handed over the silver notes to Gu An'an.

"There are still five taels of silver left. It may take some time for Madam Gu to personally demonstrate it."

Gu An'an smiled and accepted it, "No problem, no problem, Manager Lin is too kind."

Manager Lin quickly arranged for someone to accompany Gu An'an to make the purchases, and had several chefs from the restaurant keep an eye on things.

While waiting for the chopped meat to be put into the pot to steam, Gu An'an instructed, "It will take at least an hour, preferably an hour and a half. Also, since the restaurant is open for business and sells food to customers, it would be best to buy some matching bowls and plates as well."

Manager Lin couldn't help but nod upon hearing this. He had watched Gu An'an make this fermented pork, and he had to admit that she was truly generous in sharing her knowledge.

He was quite honest, a completely different type of person from the sixth young master of his family who came to inspect Anping County.

"Thank you for your hard work, Madam Gu. It's lunchtime now. Do you have any other plans? If not, would you like to try our restaurant's signature dishes?"

Gu An'an wasn't in a hurry to go home. She had already made arrangements with her family, so she was happy to stay and get some food. It would be even better if she could take some back with her.

"That's really too much trouble for you."

As Gu An'an walked from the back kitchen to the front, she saw Lin Zixing leaning against the counter.

My good mood inevitably faded a bit.

Lin Zixing, however, noticed the person coming from the kitchen and remarked with a flicker of interest, "I never expected that I, Lin, would have such a connection with Madam Gu. We meet again so soon."

Yes, they're like buzzing flies, so annoying and impossible to get rid of.

Gu An'an smiled and said, "It is quite a coincidence, but Young Master Lin can only be ranked second on my list of coincidences."

"Oh, really?" Lin Zixing smiled brightly. "I wonder who this person is who's ranked first? Money?"

He picked up the teapot and poured a cup of tea for Gu An'an.

No one is perfect; who doesn't love money?

Gu An'an smiled upon hearing this, "No, I suppose Young Master Lin doesn't want to know the answer either, so I won't say it."

Her deliberately mysterious manner aroused Lin Zixing's curiosity.

"Lady Gu really knows how to bewitch people."

This is an extremely troublesome person, and if possible, Gu An'an would never pay any attention to him.

But since she had encountered it, she wasn't afraid.

"No, it's just that comparing a fly from a latrine to Young Master Lin..." Seeing the handsome man looking as if he had swallowed a fly, Gu An'an quickly covered her mouth, "Look at me, what nonsense am I talking about? How can Young Master Lin compare to a fly from a latrine?"

After saying that, she seemed to realize something was wrong and frowned repeatedly. "It's my fault for not knowing how to speak. Young Master Lin, please be magnanimous and don't take it to heart."

The smile on the man in brocade robes froze for a moment before he slowly spoke, “Madam Gu is truly an interesting person.”

He underestimated her; he was actually tricked by this young woman.

"Young master, you flatter me. I am very stupid. Fortunately, you don't hold it against me. Otherwise, I would be so angry that I wouldn't be able to eat. I would be a very guilty person."

He apologized verbally, but every word he said was actually stirring up trouble.

Lin Zixing chuckled, "What Madam Gu said makes sense. It's fine to joke around with me a little. But there are some things you can't say to outsiders."

Gu An'an looked puzzled upon hearing this, "Does Young Master Lin consider you my wife?"

Once again, Lin Zixing's handsome face froze with a smile. His usually smiling peach blossom eyes stared straight at Gu An'an, and he said with a half-smile, "Madam Gu is really sharp-tongued and never gives an inch. No wonder."

He then got up and left, which puzzled Gu An'an.

No wonder what?

What was the meaning behind Lin Zixing's meaningful smile at the end?

Holding the teacup, Gu An'an found the tea extremely bitter for the first time.

It really doesn't taste right.
