Chapter 106 Prenatal Checkups

“Teacher, you’ve come,” Zhou He reached out to help her.

Qian Qian dodged aside and led Lin Wanwan forward.

"You go about your business, what are you doing out here? I didn't call you because I was afraid you'd make a big fuss."

Zhou He said with a smile, "It's just me coming out to greet you, there's no need for a big fuss."

Qian Qian waved her hand, "You don't need to come either. I can take it myself. What are you doing out here, a dean? Go do your thing. I've already called Xiao Li. I'll go directly there. You know I hate this kind of thing the most."

Zhou He gave an awkward smile.

Lin Wanwan quickly tried to smooth things over, "Grandma, Dean Zhou isn't here to see you. Maybe he's here to see me. Don't chase him away. What if he doesn't let me give birth at the military hospital later?"

Qian Qian was amused by her and patted her hand, saying, "That's right, we have to try to please him."

Zhou He immediately followed with a smile and went to the other side to help Qian Qian.

"That's right, I'm here to see my niece."

Qian Qian stopped chasing Lin Wanwan away and led her to the obstetrics and gynecology department. Along the way, people came up to her and greeted her, calling her "Professor Qian".

Qian Qian nodded with a straight face.

As soon as Lin Wanwan arrived at the obstetrics and gynecology department, a middle-aged woman in her forties greeted her, "Teacher, you're here so early?"

“If we come late, the department might not be available,” Qian Qian said, pointing to Lin Wanwan beside her. “She’s my granddaughter. I brought her here for a check-up because she just came back from the army. I was worried about her and brought her over to have her examined.”

“My niece is really beautiful,” Li Li said as she stepped forward and looked Lin Wanwan up and down, her mind filled with doubt but her expression remaining unchanged.

She had heard a little about what happened to the teacher's family, and she had even met the granddaughter, but she wasn't as pretty as the one in front of her.

"Director Li, thank you for your help today," Lin Wanwan said with a smile, linking arms with Qian Qian.

Song Lanzhi also stepped forward to express her gratitude.

"Don't mention it, it's rare for the teacher to come all this way to see me," he said with a smile as he turned to see Dean Zhou. "Senior Brother Zhou, are you worried about me? Why did you come all this way alone?"

Zhou He said with a smile, "Since the teacher is here, I have to come and see him."

Qian Qian said irritably, "See? Go back now. Wanwan is just pregnant. When she moves in to give birth, you'll have your turn to help."

Zhou He looked up and smiled, "Don't worry, teacher, I've had Li Li arrange everything. You can go check now, I'll go back to my office."

Lu Feng and Song Lanzhi went up to exchange pleasantries with him, and then Zhou He left.

After Lin Wanwan finished her check-up, both the child and the mother were healthy. Li Li then gave her some instructions.

He chuckled as he finished speaking, "With the teacher here, I feel like I'm being a bit redundant."

“What do you mean by superfluous? You are the doctor now, I have already retired.”

Lin Wanwan smiled and said, "Grandma doesn't want to take care of me anymore, so I can only trouble Director Li."

“Call me Aunt Li. I’m your grandmother’s goddaughter, after all. How could your grandmother bear to abandon you? This is the first time she’s asked me for help.”

Lin Wanwan looked at Qian Qian and only dared to greet her after seeing her nod.

"Thank you for your help, Aunt Li."

Li Li gave Lu Feng and Song Lanzhi some instructions on their diet during pregnancy, and also told Lu Feng about the emotional changes a pregnant woman experiences.

Lu Feng took out paper and pen and wrote everything down, including some dietary restrictions.

Seeing his nervousness, Li Li smiled and said, "You don't need to be so nervous. Wanwan seems to be in good condition. She can eat most things, but there are some things you need to be careful about. Just remember them. Also, pregnant women's emotions tend to fluctuate a lot, so try to go with the flow."

Li Li paused and smiled, "But seeing how good your relationship is, I guess there shouldn't be any major problems. Don't be careless about coming for regular check-ups. Before 28 weeks, you should have a prenatal check-up every four weeks, about once a month. In the late stages of pregnancy, you'll need to have it more frequently. I'll remind you then."

Lu Feng and Song Lanzhi thanked her, and Li Li waved her hand with a smile, "Don't be so polite, just come over regularly."

It was almost midnight when Lin Wanwan got home after the checkup. She was starving and immediately started looking for food as soon as she arrived at the Xu family's house.

The aunt served her steamed egg with minced meat. "Teacher Xu asked me to make this at 11 o'clock before she left home, and I've kept it warm."

Lin Wanwan put down her bowl and hugged Qian Qian affectionately, saying, "Grandma, how can you be so good to me?"

"What's so good about me? I don't care about you anymore, I'm fine," Qian Qian swayed and patted Lin Wanwan's arm that was holding her.

Lin Wanwan didn't care, she hugged her tightly and swayed her body, "Grandma is the best, I love Grandma the most."

"Hahaha, you little devil, hurry up and eat something, aren't you hungry?"

Qian Qian hadn't been this happy in a long time. Xu Tian and Xu Jinbu would only act coquettishly when they asked her for money.

Unlike Lin Wanwan, who would always cuddle and act coquettishly when going home or leaving the house.

Qian Qian and Xu Zhe have been in a good mood and their spirits have improved a lot recently.

Gu Bei saw this and felt grateful to Lin Wanwan.

Bai Qi and Bai Ying returned from outside and saw Lin Wanwan come back. Bai Ying immediately ran over and asked, "How did the checkup go?"

"I'm healthy, and my kids are even healthier. Where have you all been playing?"

"Grandma and my brother went shopping. Beijing is too big. I bought things for Grandpa and Grandma."

Bai Qi took the items and handed them to Qian Qian and Xu Zhe.

Bai Ying said with a smile, "Mom said that from now on we are all family, and you are my maternal grandparents. Even though Mom is not at home, my brother and I will take good care of you. I will also come back to Beijing to visit you and Grandpa often."

Qian Qian was happy. Her own granddaughter couldn't compare to these two who weren't her biological children. "Good girl, come back often in the future. I originally wanted you to live here, but your maternal grandfather said that Wanwan's place is closer to the school. I thought about it and it makes sense. Remember to come back for dinner on weekends."

"Auntie, are you worried about me? I will take good care of Bai Ying," Song Lanzhi said with a smile.

"Don't worry, don't worry, you're the most thoughtful person I know, I trust you completely."

The Lin family went back last night. While eating steamed eggs, Lin Wanwan asked Lu Feng to call home to let them know she was safe.

After finishing her meal, Lin Wanwan insisted on waiting until the elderly couple took their afternoon nap before leaving. Lin Wanwan was in a good mood today and said to Lu Feng, "Let's not go back, let's take Bai Ying for a walk."

Lu Feng nodded, "I'll do whatever you say."

Tuanzi fell asleep, and Song Lanzhi smiled and said, "You guys go play, I'll stay here with your grandparents."

Lin Wanwan hugged her shoulders and said, "Thank you, Mom. Mom is the best." She then kissed her cheek.

"This child, one minute Grandma is the best, the next minute I'm the best, who is the best after all?"

Lin Wanwan's eyes darted around. "Of course, my husband is the best. Otherwise, how would he have met such a wonderful mother?"

Song Lanzhi smiled and pointed at her, "Sycophant."

As they went outside, Lin Wanwan pulled Bai Ying aside and said, "How about I take you to get a cheongsam made? You like them too, and the cheongsams made by that master craftsman are so beautiful."

Bai Ying nodded excitedly, "Okay."
