Zheng Yan fell silent. She had indeed thought about it, but what opportunity was there to stay in Beijing?
Lin Wanwan saw that she was not speaking, so she did not disturb her.
He looked up and asked Mu Lin, "Little Lin, why did you decide to study law? Why didn't you study economics?"
"Why did you study law?" Mu Lin asked her with a smile.
"I asked first, so you go first."
Mu Lin lowered his head and chuckled deeply, "Because I like it, but I really didn't expect you to study law."
Lin Wanwan raised her head and said, "Law is not the ultimate goal."
Mu Lin raised an eyebrow and said, "Want to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?"
Lin Wanwan stared at him in surprise, "You investigated me? You've got some nerve!"
Mu Lin laughed even harder and turned to her, saying, "Do we even need to investigate? You don't know how popular you are at school now. They say your husband and mother-in-law drove you to school when you started, and Senior Cheng even brought you to school and showed you around the campus."
"Who is spreading rumors about me? If I catch them, I'll break their legs."
"Now I realize you haven't changed at all since you were a child."
"Don't spread rumors, I've changed too, I'm even more beautiful now."
Mu Lin lowered his head and chuckled, "Indeed."
When Mu Lin returned to the passenger seat, he noticed that Lu Feng's expression wasn't good, but he ignored it and remained seated calmly.
When Mu Lin got out of the car, he waved to Lin Wanwan, "I'll go to Brother Qin Mu's house first, and tomorrow we'll go directly to Brother Gu Bei's house."
Lin Wanwan rolled down the car window and waved to him, "See you tomorrow."
Mu Lin seemed to remember something, and said as if he had just recalled something, "I almost forgot."
He pulled a box out of his shirt pocket. "Here, this is for you. I bought it in Hong Kong. I was planning to give it to you when I had the chance. There are several more at home that my mom and I picked out. I'll give it to you next time."
Lin Wanwan gave him a knowing look, took the box and said, "Thank you. Lu Feng and I will go see Auntie when she comes back."
Mu Lin nodded, smiling gently.
When Lin Wanwan and the others returned home, Song Lanzhi was still waiting for them in the main room, and Tuanzi was playing on the carpet.
Seeing Lin Wanwan enter the room, he climbed up from the carpet and pounced on her with his short legs.
"Tuanzi, my good son, did you miss me?" Lin Wanwan picked him up from the ground.
"Oh dear, my little dumpling has gotten chubby."
Tuanzi hugged her neck and called "Mommy," followed by her brother's laughter.
Lu Feng picked up Tuanzi and said, "Don't hug him, he's gotten too heavy."
"She's definitely heavier, Mom. You saw Zheng Yan when school started."
Song Lanzhi stood up with a smile and said, "I remember, I remember. Come and sit down. Is it windy and cold outside?"
Zheng Yan stepped forward to greet her. She was originally from Northeast China and had a forthright and outgoing personality. Since she had decided to come, she didn't stand on ceremony and went up to greet Song Lanzhi.
"I've come shamelessly, and I'm going to bother Auntie for two days."
Song Lanzhi smiled and stepped forward to take her hand, "No need to bother us, no need to bother us. We'll go to Grandpa's house tomorrow and stay there. We'll bother Grandpa."
"I was afraid you wouldn't come, please sit down, please sit down," he said, pulling her to sit on the sofa. Just then, the aunt brought in the soup.
Lin Wanwan looked left and right. "Where's Bai Ying? Did she fall asleep before I even got there?"
"She waited for you for a long time but you didn't come back, so she went to take a shower first. She should be out soon now."
Song Lanzhi urged them to drink the soup, saying, "You drink the soup, and let me hold the dumpling."
Lu Feng handed the child to her and gave Lin Wanwan a bowl of soup.
"Thank you, honey."
Seeing her like this, Lu Feng's cold face finally warmed up a bit. "Drink slowly, it's a little hot."
Lin Wanwan smiled at him, "The soup smells so good, is it pigeon?"
Song Lanzhi nodded and said, "Yes, I stewed three. Drink more if you like."
"Mom, aren't you going to drink?"
"You guys drink, I won't be able to sleep if I eat tonight."
"Wanwan, you're back?" Bai Ying came in from outside the door, walked around the screen, and ran over when she saw Lin Wanwan.
"Come and have some pigeon soup," Lin Wanwan waved to her. "Let me introduce you. This is Zheng Yan, my roommate and classmate. She's the one who caught me on the playground last time, otherwise I would have fallen."
Bai Ying immediately looked at Zheng Yan and said, "Thank you," and then bowed to her.
"Oh my god, why are you still thanking me? If you thank me again, I'll leave right away."
Lin Wanwan was amused by her accent. "Don't scare her. Sit down and drink your soup."
Bai Ying sat down next to her with a smile, "Then thank you this time."
“Yanyan, this is Bai Ying,” he said, then looked at Bai Ying. “Yanyan is a little older than you, so you can call her Sister Yan.”
"Hello, Sister Yan! I heard from Auntie that you live at home, and maybe you live with me?"
Bai Ying looked at Zheng Yan with bright eyes. She didn't have any other friends here, and at night she wanted to be like everyone else, chatting with her girlfriends in bed.
"Don't crowd in, there are rooms available," Song Lanzhi said, waving her hand.
“It’s okay, I’ll sleep with you. I have a little sister at home too, but she’s introverted, not as outgoing as you.”
"You guys eat, Tuanzi is asleep, I'll take him to bed first, don't chat for too long."
"Okay, Mom," Lin Wanwan said with a smile.
After drinking a bowl of soup, Lu Feng conscientiously cleared away the dishes and took them to the kitchen, while Lin Wanwan accompanied Zheng Yan to Bai Ying's room.
"Are you sure you want to sleep with Bai Ying? There are other rooms at home, my mom has already prepared them."
Zheng Yan smiled and nodded, "Bai Ying doesn't want me to stay?"
"No, no, it's too boring for me to live alone," she said, taking Lin Wanwan's arm. "Don't ask anymore, we'll live together."
