Lu Feng sat down next to her, put his arm around her shoulder, and asked softly, "What are you looking at?"
Lin Wanwan gave an irrelevant answer, looking up at him and asking, "Did you run into Xiao Hai?"
Lu Feng nodded. "He apologized to me. Did you scold him?"
"No, I just reasoned with him."
"I'm sorry, I just..."
Lin Wanwan smiled and kissed him. "I know, there's no need to say sorry. You're just worried about me and feel guilty and remorseful. We don't need to say 'sorry' between us. If you have to say it, then use another three words."
Seeing Lu Feng's puzzled look, Lin Wanwan hugged his waist, tilted her head up and whispered in his ear, "I love you. From now on, I will say 'I love you' all the time."
Lu Feng felt his breathing slow down, and he remained silent, unable to speak.
Only when footsteps sounded outside did Lu Feng kiss her ear and say, "I love you too, more than you can imagine."
Lin Wanwan didn't actually know how long she could love; she had never tried.
He didn't know how long Lu Feng could love him, but at least for now, they both wanted to love each other forever.
After dinner, everyone gathered around the sofa and chatted.
Lin Wanwan leaned against Lu Feng, feeling drowsy, while Zheng Yan looked absent-minded.
He Yumei checked the time and said goodbye to Song Lanzhi, "We're going back now, it's too late."
Lin Wanwan looked at Lu Feng and asked, "Let's go to the train station and wait. You can take Mom and Dad home first, and then come back to pick up Zheng Yan and me to go to the train station."
Lu Feng glanced at the time, nodded, and said, "Okay, Mom and Dad, I'll take you home first."
Lu Feng lowered his head and kissed the top of her head. "Then I'll go first. You can sleep if you're sleepy. I'll take her to the train station."
"It's okay, I'll wait for you."
Tuanzi was a little sleepy, so she climbed into Lin Wanwan's arms and lay down.
"Tuanzi, are you sleepy?"
Tuanzi hugged her neck without saying a word.
"How about Mom takes you to wash up, and then tells you a story?"
Tuanzi hugged her and nodded, calling out softly, "Mommy~"
Song Lanzhi went to hug Tuanzi, "I'll take her to wash up, and then you can coax her to sleep. She really misses you."
Tuanzi wouldn't let go, leaving Song Lanzhi both amused and exasperated.
"Grandma will take you to take a bath. Mommy will wait for you here, okay?"
"Mommy, don't go!"
Lin Wanwan kissed his little face and said, "Mommy won't leave, don't be afraid."
Tuanzi then let go and followed Song Lanzhi to wash up.
Bai Ying stood up and said, "I'm going back to my room to study. You two can chat."
"Why are you in such a hurry? Let's talk first. I haven't chatted with you in a long time."
Bai Ying smiled and sat down next to her, reaching out to take her arm.
"How's your studying going lately? Your broadcasting teacher says you seem distracted. What's wrong?"
Bai Ying lowered her head guiltily, "How did you know?"
"Even though I'm at school every day, I still care about you a lot, okay? What's wrong with you? Tell us if anything's wrong. Did someone at school bully you?"
Bai Ying remained silent, but Lin Wanwan knew that her guess was pretty accurate.
"What are you doing? Didn't you say you were going to work hard towards your goal? Now that you're facing problems, how are you going to work hard?"
"Actually, it's nothing. It's just that I don't know anyone in the school. I'm a transfer student and I'm from out of town."
Lin Wanwan finished her sentence, "They looked down on you? They mocked you?"
Bai Ying nodded silently.
Lin Wanwan sighed and asked her, "So, where do you think the difference lies between you and them?"
Bai Ying thought for a long time before speaking, "They have seen more than I have. They grew up in the capital. I haven't. There are many places and things they are talking about that I don't know."
"I see. So, even if you know what they're saying, do you think it will have any impact on you?"
"Let me put it another way: if you knew what they were saying, what good would it do you? Besides being able to have a conversation with them, would there be any other benefits?"
Bai Ying thought for a moment and shook her head. "No."
“Bai Ying, the so-called knowledge you’ve gained is just one aspect of this world. They’ve seen the prosperity of the capital, but they haven’t seen the majestic snow-capped mountains and vast plateaus of Gansu Province. There are still many things in this world that we haven’t seen. In a few years, ten years, or twenty years, you’ll find that their so-called knowledge is just the tip of the iceberg. You don’t need to feel inferior at all. Life is so long, maybe they will have to look up to you in the future.”
Bai Ying looked at Lin Wanwan with sparkling eyes, unsure of what to say for a moment.
Zheng Yan, standing next to her, excitedly slapped her thigh and said, "Wanwan, you're absolutely right. The world is so big. They've only seen Beijing, but I've seen not only Beijing but also Liaoning Province. I've seen more than them. We still have decades left in our lives. If we work hard, maybe I'll be even better than them. Bai Ying, don't be so self-conscious. Let's all work hard together."
Lin Wanwan smiled and nodded, "That's right, there's no need to be so self-conscious. Our path is ahead, we're not going to stay in the same place forever. Let's work hard, we're all very capable."
Bai Ying suddenly felt a little discouraged. "But they all ostracized me. No one talked to me or played with me. My deskmate talked to me a few times, but she was also ostracized by them later."
"Bai Ying, there are many unknowns in our lives, and the scenes will keep changing. You may make a good friend at school today, but she may transfer schools tomorrow. Even if you graduate together, you will still go your separate ways after college. It is fortunate that you are in the same school, but you will go to different places to work after graduation."
