"What can I do? Can I control it? They're the ones who say we're great, and they're the ones who say we're feudal dregs and the Four Olds. How pathetic am I? I even go to teach them, and they want me to promote traditional Chinese medicine. How come they get all the good things? Am I a worthless wretch?"
"Dad, I didn't ask you to teach at school. I meant that Sister Wan's suggestion was great. You're so capable, why can't you open a traditional Chinese medicine clinic?"
"Open a clinic? Who's going to give me the license? I don't even have a license, how am I supposed to open it? Can I just open the shop and tell people I'm a barefoot doctor?"
Jin Feng's face turned red with anxiety. There are plenty of people running pharmacies without licenses these days, so why can't others?
"Uncle Jin, if you're worried about this, how about I think of a solution?"
"Find a way?" Jin Hai sneered self-deprecatingly. "Find what way? You think you can get the government to issue me a certificate?"
Seeing that she was about to say something, Jin Hai waved his hand and said, "Alright, I understand your feelings. Isn't it good for me now? In the past, wealthy families, nobles and kings, also kept doctors at home."
“In other countries, this is called a family doctor. If you don’t mind, I can be your family doctor in the future as a way of repaying you by giving me this house.”
Seeing his dejected expression, Lin Wanwan felt a little sorry for him.
"How about this, I'll fund you to open a traditional Chinese medicine clinic. You won't treat outsiders, only family members. We'll still pay for each consultation. You can also sell Chinese medicine, and people can come with prescriptions to get the medicine."
"Let me think about it. Let's go to your house."
"Lulu and Xiaofeng, do you want to go play?"
Jin Feng shook her head. "Thank you, Sister Wan, but I won't go. I have an appointment with a classmate to do homework together later."
Jin Lu, on the other hand, had bright, sparkling eyes as she cautiously looked at Jin Hai.
"Let's go, be proper when we get to their house."
Jin Lu nodded happily.
"Let's go."
Jin Hai was a little surprised when he saw where Lin Wanwan lived.
You live here?
"Yes, it's my husband's family's house."
Jin Hai followed her inside.
"Auntie, could you take some snacks to the living room for Lulu? Do you have any white fungus today?"
The auntie smiled and said, "Yes, I made it this morning. I'll go get it."
Jin Lu thanked her repeatedly, "Thank you, Auntie."
"You're welcome, this girl is really pretty."
Lin Wanwan patted her head, "Isn't she cute? Our Lu Mei is the cutest."
Jin Lu's face was flushed, and she looked a little embarrassed.
When the three of them arrived in the living room, Song Lanzhi saw that she had brought guests back and quickly stood up.
"Wanwan, why didn't you tell me you were bringing guests back?"
"Mom, this is Jin Hai, Dr. Jin, and this is her daughter, Jin Lu."
Song Lanzhi nodded. "This is the traditional Chinese medicine doctor you invited before? Dr. Jin, please have a seat." She then immediately pulled Lin Wanwan aside and asked, "Are you feeling unwell?"
Then he hurriedly went to ask the aunt to serve tea.
Lin Wanwan quickly reassured her, "No, Mom, where's my older brother? Didn't you say this morning that he had a headache? The doctor couldn't figure it out after the checkup, so I went to ask Dr. Jin for help."
“Your older brother is in his yard, I’ll go get him.”
Lu Feng walked in just then. "Looking for my older brother?"
Lin Wanwan nodded and explained to him.
"I'll go wake up my older brother; he's probably just fallen asleep."
The two arrived shortly afterward. Lu Anyang looked very tired, but he couldn't refuse Lin Wanwan's kindness.
Jin Hai didn't waste any words. He took his pulse, asked a few questions, and looked at him with a frown.
"You not only need to take medicine, but you also need to get acupuncture."
Upon hearing his words, Song Lanzhi quickly asked, "Dr. Jin, is it serious?"
"If you start treatment now, it's not considered serious."
Lu Anyang didn't say anything. He didn't resist, knowing it was his family's good intention.
Jin Hai was quite familiar with Lin Wanwan. "I'll write down a prescription, including how to take it. I also need some ingredients to make incense, which I'll write down as well. Buy the ingredients and send them to my home. You can drink this medicine first, and once the incense is ready, I'll combine it with acupuncture for a more noticeable effect."
Lin Wanwan laid out the brush and ink for him. "Thank you for your trouble. I'll have someone prepare the things and send them over as soon as they're bought."
Jin Hai wrote for quite a while, filling two large sheets of paper, before he finished.
"Dr. Jin, would you mind taking my mother's pulse while you're at it?"
Jin Hai glared at her, "You're pushing your luck."
Lin Wanwan smiled and bowed to him, "Thank you very much."
After taking Song Lanzhi's pulse, Jin Hai asked her some questions as usual.
"Try to keep a cheerful mood. Let go of the past and don't keep thinking about it. Since we're going to make incense this time, I'll make some for you too. You don't need to take the medicine."
Song Lanzhi nodded, "Thank you, Dr. Jin."
Jin Hai glanced at her and Lu Anyang and said, "You two should learn from this girl. Take things easy and don't dwell on things you can't understand. If you keep thinking about things you can't figure out, how can you be healthy? It's common for you to have trouble sleeping. Your mood is very important."
After hearing his explanation, Lu Anyang laughed and said, "Okay, thank you, Dr. Jin."
Lin Wanwan was displeased. "What's wrong with me?"
"I'm saying nice things to you, but you can't understand good and bad words."
As Jin Hai was about to leave, he looked at Lin Wanwan and said, "You look so pale, what are you doing wandering around outside? Go and rest."
Lin Wanwan touched her nose. "I'll go in a bit."
Jinlu was playing with Tuanzi in the yard when she saw Jinhai was about to leave, so she stood up as well.
Tuanzi hugged her tightly, "Sister~"
When Yuanyuan saw her brother hug the older sister who was playing with them, she immediately followed suit and hugged her too.
He stumbled and staggered forward, barely able to walk.
