"Want me to play along?"
"Is there any way?"
Lin Wanwan leaned close to her ear and whispered a few words.
Zheng Yan looked at her suspiciously, "Will this work?"
“I don’t know either, just give it a try, you won’t lose anything,” Lin Wanwan said, her eyes darting around. “But you should talk to your husband about this properly, otherwise he might get angry, and you two might end up unhappy.”
Zheng Yan nodded.
Seeing that she was still in a bad mood, Lin Wanwan sighed and said.
"Why are you thinking so much? They are his parents. Just let him handle it."
"That's because you don't understand him. Although he's not blindly filial, he wouldn't do anything too outrageous."
“But he loves you more, and Brother Ren isn’t such a clueless person.”
Lin Wanwan nudged her shoulder, "Don't look so gloomy, you're all so happy today."
Zheng Yan rolled her eyes at her, "I know, I won't spoil your fun."
"It's not that I'm being a downer, it's my mother-in-law."
The private room was large, with five tables set up. My grandparents were there, and the four of them sat on the sofa chatting.
My uncle and aunt, as well as my godfather and godmother, were all gathered around.
Lin Wanwan pulled Zheng Yan over to say hello.
After looking around one last time, he asked, "Why didn't Bai Ying come?"
"She'll be later, she's very busy right now."
Lin Wanwan took Xu Zhang's hand and asked, "Godmother, why have you lost weight recently? Are you not feeling well?"
Xu Zhang shook his head. "It's nothing. My stomach has been a little upset lately. I've already taken some medicine."
Lin Wanwan frowned. "Wasn't it checked?"
"I am a doctor, what kind of examination do you need?"
"That won't do. You can't be careless about your health. I'll take you to Dr. Jin another day and have him take your pulse."
Xu Zhang was about to refuse when He Yumei grabbed him and said, "Just listen to him. She's a little busybody now. If you don't agree, she'll keep nagging you until you do."
Xu Zhang was at a loss for words, both amused and exasperated.
"Okay, okay, I'll listen to you, I'll listen to you."
Lin Wanwan then let her go.
Gu Changfeng laughed and said, "Only you can persuade your godmother. Your brother had been talking about it for a long time, but she always said it was fine."
"I'm fine. It's probably just gastritis. The hospital was too busy recently, so I guess my diet was irregular and that's why I got gastritis. It will be fine in a while."
"That won't do either. I'll only feel at ease if you see me. Let Dr. Jin take your pulse and see if you're overworked. Why have you lost so much weight recently?"
Jin Hai entered the private room just then, and said with a stern face, "I haven't eaten yet, and you've already assigned me work again?"
Chen Min slapped him.
Lin Wanwan knew Jin Hai's personality, so she smiled and said, "I didn't mean that. I said I would come to see you another day, not now."
Jin Lu ran to Lin Wanwan's side and took her arm, "Sister Wanwan!"
Are you happy going to university?
Jin Lu said with a smile, "I'm just happy."
"I wasn't lying to you, going to university is really great."
"No, it's a good thing I listened to you back then, studied for a year and got into university, otherwise I would have regretted it later."
"As long as you don't feel like you're wasting an extra year, it's fine."
Jin Lu smiled and said, "I don't think so. Going to university is really fun."
"Are you dating someone?" Lin Wanwan whispered gossipingly.
Jin Lu blushed and said shyly, "I didn't."
"There's no need to be so embarrassed. Let me tell you, don't date any shady boyfriends, or I'll break your legs."
Gu Bei walked over and heard her say she wanted to break someone's legs, so he bent his hand and tapped her on the head.
"Whose leg are you going to break?"
Lin Wanwan turned around and saw it was him. She squinted and asked, "Brother, did you bring your girlfriend home today?"
Xu Zhang got excited as soon as he heard this and kept Gu Bei reading it for half an hour.
Lin Wanwan thought viciously to herself, "If you hit my head again, I'll make your mother nag you to death."
Gu Bei was caught red-handed. He touched his nose and listened helplessly to his own mother's nagging.
Cheng Jinyan was the last to arrive.
He came with his grandparents.
Lin Wanwan was familiar with them, so she obediently went up to greet them.
Grandma Cheng, holding her hand, said, "You've gotten so thin again, your face is all pale."
Lin Wanwan said with a grin, "That's great. Other people lose weight by eating only one meal a day, but I can lose weight without dieting."
"That won't do. A fuller face is more attractive."
Lin Wanwan touched her face and said with a smile, "Yeah, I think so too. A little bit of plumpness looks better and is considered a sign of good fortune."
Grandma Cheng immediately said, "Yes, yes, a little girl should have a round face to look good; she's too thin."
Lin Wanwan immediately coaxed her, saying, "Then I'll eat more later. You can keep an eye on me. I'll eat more meat and grow up to be plump and fair."
Grandma Cheng laughed heartily and patted her face.
She and her husband both liked this girl. She knew her grandson liked her too. She was so lovable—beautiful, good at making money, academically excellent, and filial. It was hard not to like her.
She just got married too early, and she blames her grandson for not being lucky enough to have her. She wished he could have met her sooner.
Grandma Cheng sighed inwardly.
Lin Wanwan was unaware of any of this. She felt that the adults were just using her as an excuse to get together.
Lin Wanwan was willing to be a tool, burying her head in eating.
Lu Feng was at another table, with Gu Bei and Cheng Jinyan, and he kept glancing over here.
Gu Bei couldn't take it anymore and slapped him, saying, "My sister won't run away, can you stop looking?"
Lu Feng looked away, and paused for a moment.
