Lin Wanwan nodded immediately.
She looked disheveled, with messy hair and wrinkled clothes.
Cheng Jinyan felt a tightness in his chest; he had never seen Lin Wanwan like this before.
"It's alright, the child has been found. That old woman wanted to sell the child to the south and was about to leave today, but my colleague intercepted her. She thought the child was about to arrive."
Lin Wanwan suddenly felt a ringing in her ears, and the sounds around her became ethereal. She stared blankly at the person in front of her, her mouth opening and closing as if she were saying something.
She tried very hard to hear clearly, but the sound seemed to grow more and more distant and ethereal.
A familiar voice, tinged with surprise, rang out, "Mom!!"
Lin Wanwan saw a small cannonball rushing towards her and hugged her waist.
She swayed, feeling a little unsteady on her feet.
Cheng Jinyan reached out and put his arm around her waist, and Lin Wanwan managed to stand up.
Her voice trembled, and she asked uncertainly, "Yuanyuan?"
Yuanyuan looked up and saw Lin Wanwan's face covered in tears, and she burst into tears instantly.
"Mommy!!! Waaaaaah... Mommy, I'm so scared."
Lin Wanwan then squatted down and hugged Yuanyuan tightly, "Don't be afraid, Mommy's here, isn't she?"
Cheng Jinyan looked down and patted her, "Don't hug me so tightly, Yuanyuan can't breathe."
Lin Wanwan immediately let go of his hand, looked at his round little face which was flushed, and reached out to touch his face.
"I'm sorry, Yuanyuan, Mommy is late. I'm sorry, Mommy lost you."
Lin Wanwan's face was covered in tears, and she looked at him with blurred vision.
Yuanyuan was like a little angel, wiping away her tears and comforting her in return.
"It's my own fault for being so stupid. I shouldn't have believed her. It's all my fault for not training properly with my dad, which is why I was taken away."
Mo Qing glanced at the mother and child squatting on the ground, then at Cheng Jinyan, whose eyes were full of heartache.
She reached out and punched him lightly, mouthing, "You've been married for so long and you've never said that before."
Cheng Jinyan shook his head and turned his face to the side.
Mo Qing looked at him in surprise.
After a long while, Cheng Jinyan lowered his head and patted Lin Wanwan again, "Get up first, go and eat something. Yuanyuan, are you hungry?"
Upon seeing this, Yuanyuan immediately rushed into Cheng Jinyan's arms, saying, "Uncle, Yuanyuan is scared."
Cheng Jinyan picked him up in his arms.
Mo Qing, who was standing to the side, was amused by him. "You don't look scared at all. The people below said that when they found that old woman, she had a bruised and swollen face. They found out that this kid beat her up."
Seeing Lin Wanwan supporting her knees, Cheng Jinyan handed Yuanyuan to Mo Qing and reached out to help her up.
Lin Wanwan was about to say thank you when her body went limp and she fell directly into his arms.
Cheng Jinyan immediately scooped the person up in his arms and said, "To the hospital."
Mo Qing immediately opened the car door for him and then took the three of them to the hospital.
When Lin Wanwan woke up again, looking at the pale ceiling, she tried to sit up in bed.
Only then did I notice that I had an IV drip in the back of my hand.
Cheng Jinyan leaned back on the sofa by the window and fell asleep.
She was still holding Yuanyuan in her arms.
Lin Wanwan composed herself and did not call out to him.
It wasn't until the IV drip was almost empty that Lin Wanwan struggled to remember to call the nurse.
Suddenly someone opened the door and came in; Lin Wanwan didn't have time to see who it was.
Cheng Jinyan, who was on the sofa, was awakened by the noise in the room.
Be careful.
Cheng Jinyan placed Yuanyuan on the sofa and came over to help her.
Why didn't you call me?
The nurse came in to check the IV drip, and when she saw that the medication was finished, she immediately removed the needle.
"Why don't you find a hotel to sleep in?"
Cheng Jinyan looked at her and said, "You're terrifying. You even fainted. How could I dare to leave?"
"I should be fine. I was just too anxious and suddenly realized I couldn't hold on for a moment. I'm sorry to have worried you."
"You scared Yuanyuan."
Lin Wanwan looked rather listless, and said softly to him, "Brother, thank you this time."
Cheng Jinyan couldn't stop laughing. "I'm really not used to you being like this. Lin Wanwan, who talks like a little devil, come back quickly."
Lin Wanwan reached out and slapped the hand off her head. "Why are you like this?"
"Would you like to get up and eat something?"
Lin Wanwan nodded. "I'd like to wash up. Do you have any clothes I can change into?"
"It seems there was some in the car, and the auntie seems to have packed it up."
Lin Wanwan woke Yuanyuan up after she finished washing up.
"Mommy~~"
Yuanyuan hugged Lin Wanwan's neck and rubbed against her.
"Get up quickly, Mom is hungry, let's go eat together."
Yuanyuan became very clingy and kept wanting Lin Wanwan to hug her.
“Yuanyuan, you’re five years old now. Didn’t you say you were a big girl? Mommy is a little tired and can’t carry you anymore.”
Cheng Jinyan picked him up in one go, "Uncle will carry you. Your mother is too hungry to walk, how can she have the strength to carry you?"
Lin Wanwan was starving and buried her head in her food, eating with great relish.
He wanted to eat more after eating two bowls of rice, but Cheng Jinyan stopped him.
"Don't eat anymore, you'll feel unwell later."
Lin Wanwan then gave up.
"I've already called your family to let them know I'm safe. Lu Feng should be here soon."
"Is he done with his work?"
Lin Wanwan's voice was devoid of any emotion.
"It should be him. He just happened to answer the phone when I called back."
Thinking that Lu Feng would probably go to Mo Qing's place, the group drove directly to the police station.
As soon as I got out of the car, I saw Lu Feng parked his car on the side of the road.
Lu Anyang and Lin Xiaohai also got out of the car.
Lin Xiaohai ran the fastest, rushed to Lin Wanwan, grabbed her arm and looked her up and down.
