Lin Wanwan had just arrived at the school gate when she heard the school bell ring.
I waited for ages but didn't see Tuanzi and Yuanyuan come out.
Lin Wanwan was a little anxious.
Just then, a little girl ran over and asked, "Auntie, are you Lu Jing's mother?"
Lin Wanwan smiled and bent down to look at her. "Yes, do you know me?"
"Yes, I know you. Auntie, you're so pretty. Everyone in my class knows you."
"Really? Thank you. You're beautiful too."
The little girl was a little embarrassed.
What's your name?
"Auntie, my name is Li Meihua, and I am Lu Jing's classmate."
"Oh, I see. Have you seen Lu Jing? Auntie has been waiting for him for a long time."
The little girl hesitated for a while, then waved to Lin Wanwan.
Lin Wanwan squatted down, and the little girl whispered a few words in her ear. Then, seeing her grandmother, she immediately waved to her, "Auntie, I'm leaving. You can't say I told you, or our teacher will scold you."
"Okay, thank you, Meimei. Come to Auntie's house to play next time, okay? Auntie will make you a little dress."
The little girl nodded vigorously.
Lin Wanwan locked the car door, picked up her bag, and walked towards the school.
After registering at the entrance, I walked towards Tuanzi's classroom.
As soon as I got to the bottom of the teaching building, I saw Yuanyuan with a long face, anxiously looking towards the school gate.
Upon seeing Lin Wanwan approach, Yuanyuan immediately ran over.
"Mother!!!"
"Xiao Jing, why are you standing here?"
"Mom, brother..."
"It's okay, Mom knows, don't worry."
Lin Wanwan took a handkerchief and wiped his sweat.
"Let's go find my brother."
As Lin Wanwan approached the office door, she heard loud insults coming from inside.
"Do you think you don't need to study just because your family has some money? What will you do if you become illiterate and become someone who contributes nothing to society?"
Lin Wanwan's chest heaved with anger.
I composed myself, knocked on the door, and then went inside.
"Lu Ming, why didn't you go to the school gate after school? Mom has been waiting for you for a long time."
Lin Wanwan saw the man in the office, who looked to be in his thirties. The moment she saw him, a look of amazement flashed in her eyes.
Upon hearing his name called Lu Ming, he immediately looked over with disdain.
"You are Lu Ming's mother?"
"Yes," Lin Wanwan nodded politely, "Are you Lu Ming's homeroom teacher?"
Before the man could say anything, Lin Wanwan didn't give him a chance and immediately spoke.
Did I just hear you verbally abusing my child at the door?
She turned to look at Lu Ming and waved to him, "Come here to Mommy."
"Tell your mother, was the teacher just verbally abusing you? Why did she verbally abuse you?"
Lu Ming hesitated before speaking, "Teacher Jin said I don't study hard and that I'll be illiterate in the future."
Lin Wanwan took a deep breath, "What was your ranking in the whole school at the end of last semester?"
Lu Ming didn't know what Lin Wanwan was up to. The teacher replied, "Last semester, I was ninth in the whole school. Mom, I will work harder in the future."
Lin Wanwan looked at him and nodded. "Mom thinks you are very amazing. You ranked ninth in the whole school, and you got a perfect score in English. Mom and Dad think you are very outstanding. You are not illiterate, you are polite, and you study well. Whether in your parents' eyes or in other people's eyes, you are a very outstanding person."
"Excellent?" The man sneered. "He doesn't study properly all day, he just reads extracurricular books. He's only in elementary school now. Is being ninth place so impressive? What about middle school and high school?"
"Teacher Jin, right? When did Lu Ming start reading extracurricular books?"
“It’s wrong to look at these books no matter when. School is a place for learning. If he brings books that are not conducive to learning, then there is something wrong with his thinking.”
"Lu Ming, tell your mother when you watched it?"
"When get out of class ends."
"You said you watched it after class, but who knows if you watched it during class?"
"Mom, I didn't. I listen attentively in class and only look at it after class."
"Okay, Mom believes you."
Lin Wanwan looked at the man in front of her and said, "Teacher Jin, does Lu Ming's reading of extracurricular books affect other students? Does it affect his grades? Or is it because he hasn't done the homework assigned by the teachers? If none of these are the case, I think my child is not at fault."
"That's right? He's reading books that have nothing to do with studying, and you call that unrelated?" The man glared at her.
"Don't think you can rest easy just because you have some money. If he doesn't study hard, and you're the ones teaching him, he'll be ruined sooner or later. There's no way to communicate with people like you who only have money but no culture."
Lin Wanwan took a deep breath. "Teacher, I don't know what you mean by 'uncultured.' Lu Ming's father graduated from the National Defense University of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and I graduated from Renmin University of China, with a master's degree. If you think that's uncultured, then what is your educational background? What's the point of saying 'uncultured' over and over again?"
The man was dumbfounded. "You're not...?"
Lin Wanwan chuckled lightly, "What do you mean, 'not'? I'm just a stinking businessman, and his father is a stinking soldier?"
The teacher was dumbfounded; that was indeed what he thought.
"Teacher, who gave you the right to treat children with prejudice? I think you must apologize to my child for your words and actions just now."
The man's face flushed red. "Why should I apologize? Does he think he's right to read extracurricular books?"
Lin Wanwan looked down and asked Lu Ming, "What book are you reading?"
"War and Peace"
"Did your dad give it to you? Was it in the original language or in Chinese?"
"original?"
"Can you understand it? I can understand most of it. If I don't understand, I'll ask my dad when I get home tonight."
Lin Wanwan nodded, "My son is amazing."
"Did the teacher say he was reading books unrelated to learning because he couldn't understand them? The original text of the book might be a bit difficult for you, but I still hope that you can understand the situation before criticizing my child next time. Moreover, I think what you just said is not good for my child's mental and physical health. I think you, as a teacher, should know that you should apologize when you do something wrong."
“I think the school has to give us an explanation,” Lu Feng said as he entered and put his arm around Lin Wanwan’s shoulder.
Looking down at Lin Wanwan, he said, "I'm sorry I'm late. Something came up before I left, and I was delayed."
Lu Feng arrived in a hurry and didn't even have time to change his clothes. Lin Wanwan heard him say that there was some kind of commendation ceremony that morning, and that she had to wear a military uniform.
Seeing him covered in medals, his hat resting on his wrist, Lin Wanwan's eyes lit up with hearts. Her husband was so handsome.
Lu Feng looked sharply at the man in front of him. "I heard everything clearly when I came here. I've already sent someone to find your principal."
The man was dumbfounded. Looking at Lu Feng's epaulets and medals all over his body, he was so frightened that he couldn't speak.
Lu Feng looked down at Lu Ming and asked, "Where in the book did you not understand? Give it to me and I'll teach you."
Lu Ming looked up at him and said, "The teacher confiscated my book and tore it to shreds."
