When Lu Ming picked up Lin Wanwan in his car, he pursed his lips, about to say sorry.
Then Lin Wanwan asked worriedly, "Are you hurt? Why did Meng drive here?"
"Mom, I'm fine, but Zhou Yang is in the hospital."
"Let's go take a look."
Seeing that Lu Ming looked unwell, Lin Wanwan comforted him, "Don't worry, didn't the doctor say he's fine?"
"I knew my limits and didn't kill him."
Lin Wanwan chuckled lightly, "Then why are you making that face?"
"Have I caused trouble for you and Dad again?"
Lin Wanwan reached out and ruffled his hair, "Why is a child so mature? Your father and I have worked so hard for so many years, and we can't even solve this little bit of trouble you've caused. What a waste of our lives."
"Besides, this wasn't entirely your fault. Don't worry, your dad and I will handle it."
Lu Ming pursed his lips and apologized, "Mom, I'm sorry."
Lin Wanwan looked at him with amusement, "So should Mom say 'thank you' to you? You hit someone to protect me."
"Mom~~~"
"Alright, don't worry about that. This whole thing was caused by the Zhou family. Zhou Yang insulted me in front of you. If you don't beat him up, your dad will beat you up instead."
The two looked at each other and laughed.
Lin Wanwan reached out and ruffled his hair again. "Did he break something in your room? You're usually so composed, you would never hit someone so hard."
"He smashed the ceramic ornament you gave me."
Seeing his unhappy expression, Lin Wanwan reached out and pinched his cheek. "Tuantuan, how about Mom makes you another one for your birthday next time?"
Hearing Lin Wanwan's tone as she coaxed the child, Lu Ming blushed slightly.
"Mom, I'm not a child anymore, you don't need to coax me like this."
"You and Yuanyuan will always be children in my eyes. Don't worry, it's not as serious as you think."
The two parked their car and went upstairs.
As soon as I entered the inpatient department, I saw Lu Feng and Zhou Ming coming down from upstairs.
Lu Ming obediently called out, "Uncle Zhou."
"The doctor said everything's fine, Lu Ming, don't worry too much. Why is your sister-in-law here too?"
"I came to check on Zhou Yang, is he alright?"
Zhou Ming looked helpless. "It's okay. The doctor said I can be discharged after a night's rest."
"Shall I take Lu Ming up to take a look?" Lin Wanwan asked him.
"No need for sister-in-law. He was the one who spoke rudely to you. What are you looking at? You ill-mannered brat."
Lin Wanwan pursed her lips, "Let's go up and take a look, otherwise it won't look good for either of our families if your sister-in-law makes a scene."
Zhou Ming thought for a moment and nodded, "Then I'll go up with you."
Lin Wanwan did not refuse, and the group went back upstairs.
As soon as Lin Wanwan reached the door of the ward, she heard a woman inside the ward cursing her by name.
Looking up at Zhou Ming with amusement, she asked, "Why does your sister-in-law always look down on me?"
"Sister-in-law, don't take it to heart."
Zhou Ming felt helpless; his brother and sister-in-law could never see the bigger picture.
Lin Wanwan reached out and knocked on the door, and the angry shouting inside immediately stopped.
Who is it?
"The person you just insulted."
The people inside fell silent instantly.
Zhou Ming didn't expect her to say that, and he exchanged a glance with Lu Feng, rubbing his forehead.
Lu Feng said he had no other choice.
Several minutes passed before the door opened.
Lin Wanwan looked at the person in front of her and said with a smile, "Should I excuse myself first, and I'll come back after you've finished cursing?"
Yang Ping's smile froze for a moment, and her words caught in her throat.
Zhou Ming stepped in to smooth things over, saying, "Sister-in-law, they've come to see Xiao Yang."
Zhou Jun said from inside the house, "Come inside, everyone. Don't stand at the door."
Zhou Yang lay on the bed, propping his head up and looking this way. There were still some unfinished snacks next to him.
Seeing this, Lin Wanwan breathed a sigh of relief; it seemed that it really wasn't serious.
"Is Xiao Yang feeling better? Is he still dizzy?"
Zhou Yang glanced at his mother, then turned back to Lin Wanwan, "Auntie, it's not serious, don't worry."
"This is also Lu Ming's fault. You only scolded me a few times and threw his things. How could you fight with your classmate?"
Before Yang Ping could say anything, Lin Wanwan immediately interrupted her.
"Xiao Yang, Auntie has already reprimanded Lu Ming. No matter what, it's wrong to resort to violence, don't you think?"
"Auntie, I..." Zhou Yang blushed, looking at Lin Wanwan, not knowing what to say.
Lin Wanwan smiled and said, "President Zhou happens to be here today. Xiao Yang was injured, and it's definitely our fault. I'll have Lu Feng personally deliver the medical expenses and Xiao Yang's post-discharge nutrition expenses to our home."
Zhou Jun's face stiffened. "What are you saying, President Lin? Zhou Yang was in the wrong from the start. He spoke rudely to his elders. We, as his parents, failed to teach him properly. We should compensate him for the things he broke."
"It's nothing too expensive, Mr. Zhou, you don't need to worry about it. It's just a birthday present I made for Lu Ming when he was a child. I've already promised Lu Ming that I would make him another one."
Zhou Jun and Yang Ping didn't look too good. They weren't stupid; they were shrewd people. They understood the implication in Lin Wanwan's words, and they couldn't bring themselves to get angry.
Neither of them looked too good, and Lin Wanwan didn't say anything more.
"Since Xiao Yang is alright, our family won't bother him any longer. I'll have Lu Feng bring over the medical and nutritional expenses tomorrow."
Zhou Jun stood up. "President Lin, do you have time to talk?"
Lin Wanwan glanced at Zhou Yang on the hospital bed and Yang Ping behind him, "Next time, I won't bother your family today. I just heard my sister-in-law cursing, and it seems like everyone is in a bad mood. Let's do it next time."
